It is slowly being updated but a classic that should be visited

Fine Victorian pleasure pier which has survived when many others along the south coast have been lost. Some decking work underway to improve but could also do with a lick of paint

Nothing to write home about but a lovely bit of old fashioned seaside and a nice place to sit and pick more donkeys from the racing pages!

First thing you see when you get to the seafront is the Pier. The pier looks beautiful, there's some shops and places to eat on the pier, besides that you have a great view of the seafront whenever you are on the pier. You can even see the cliffs!

Fairly well maintained pier, pleasant short walk to the end. Some amusements, craft shops, pub and food 'stalls'. Pretty much what you'd expcet from a pier.
Night Club at the end mainly frequented by teens and twenties.

Not a lot there really. Perhaps because weather was bad nothing much was open.

Great vantage point to look across Eastbourne and the South Downs. Good for the kids if they like the slots!

Eastbourne is a more refined resort , a pretty promenade against a back drop of some quite impressive hotels makes for pleasant strolling at most times of the year. There are fewer concessions and kiss me quick type venues here, more associated with the more lively ( younger) resorts. Most of the sea side entertainments are reserved for the remaining victorian pier.

Even if penny arcades/ mini fun fairs are not your thing or the miriad of souveneer type shops it is a must see and do attraction if for nothing more than the fine view and a nifty pint in the pier bar.

It was nice to stroll on the pier after dinner. Most of the shops were shut but we didn't mind as they were not our kind of shops anyway.

The pier is a nice diversion on the sea front walk - worth the 15 minute diversion and if the sun is out what could be better than an ice cream off the pier.

As a previous reviewer has commented, there are better examples of period piers, but the Victorian tea room does give some impression of how things might have been back when the Edwardian pier was built. These days its the amusement arcade which has prime position, but you can buy fish n' chips, icecream, and there is a stall selling winkles, anchovies and eels for the more adventurous!

Its certainly an Eastbourne centrepiece not to be missed as part of a visit to the area.

This is a very sedate walk and typical of a seaside pier. The victorian tea rooms are worth a visit. The view back over Eastbourne is super particularly at night. You will be disappointed if you expect it to be like Brighton pier and believe me it is all closed by 9.30 pm apart from the night club at the end. It is such a shame as I am sure that more could be done to attract visitors.

Theres an arcade, pub, nightclub, sea food counter ,burger bar, tea room cafe 2-3 tourist shops, pic a mix and other shops... My favourite activity was the fact you can hire a rod and fish at the end of the peer for 12-13 hours a day for £10 I was watching the locals and touists catch mackeral and filling up their buckets ...wonderfull !

The pier is best viewed from a distance.. up close the need for paint and attention becomes overwhelming. It has a great 'feel' and atmosphere under the peeling paint.
