Having read the reviews I decided to try it and I'm not sorry.
Had the mixed dips and mousaka. Both excellent and great value as part of a set lunch.Service good as well and will be good to come back for dinner.
This is a welcome addition to Eastbourne.

I am from Greece and I can ensure you that it's the best place to eat authentic greek food. I went with my friends and everything was perfect. From the starters I loved hummus as it was the first time I tasted it. Our main courses were mouzaka, souvlaki and the fantastic exohiko. The Greek salad and the salad with super foods were also gr/eat. I also noticed that there are many options for vegetarians and vegans and that is so nice. The environment is friendly and the stuff ready to help you. Wish to had restaurants such this one to Greece too.

When I booked the restaurant the man spoke a few words of Greek to me and I was immediately charmed since having lived in Greece for some years I learned the language. Anyway, the ambience was just right with simple décor but most important - little pots of real flowers on each table, lighted candles and Greek music playing. Attentive staff and a wonderful selection of Greek foods, many of which I haven't seen since I lived in Athens, make this a very special restaurant.

This restaurant is now listed as number one in Eastbourne but I'm not convinced that it deserves this high accolade. I certainly couldn't fault the service. Our waitress was very patient, friendly, helpful and attentive. However, I didn't find that the food was especially good when compared with other well rated establishments. It was acceptable, but no more than that. Maybe I'm just being picky or maybe it was the head chef's night off. Would I eat there again? Possibly, but there are many other good restaurants to choose from in Eastbourne.

Wonderful newish Greek restaurant in Eastbourne, opened a tad cheekily in Terminus Road just eight doors along from the Athens, which has been slightly resting on its laurels in recent years. Fab range of completely fresh mezes (let down a teeny bit by a leaden spinakopita - far too much pastry and cold in the middle). All redeemed by wonderful chicken souvlaki - cooked perfectly, tender and moist. Decent Greek wines. Sitting in the (intermittent) British sunshine outside, you could have been in Greece.

Five of us went to Gr/Eat based on the reviews here. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was perfect, the food was wonderful and the staff were friendly and attentive.
We had the special meal of appetisers, and main course. We didn't want dessert so they gave us extra mezes! The range of things we tasted was really amazing. You certainly will not leave hungry. One person asked for a doggy bag as he couldn't finish his main course and they gave him one..
The wine list, while not extensive had a good range of Greek wines and we would recommend the red Keramos. When we finally finished the meal we were given a home made cherry liqueur which was very, very good.
Go there ,you will have a great night out.

Finally got to eat here! You have to book in advance as they are always booked up but for good reason! There aren't very many tables so it's a calm atmosphere, friendly service and delicious Greek food, I would highly recommend it!

Authentic, delicious, sensibly priced Greek food. We sat in the sunshine outside and felt like we were on holiday. Service was quick and friendly, and there was problem accommodating dietary needs. Don't hesitate, this is a great find.

We love Greek food and decided to have a day out to Eastbourne just so we could try this restaurant based on the good TA reviews. Everything we tried was delicious - we shared the Fava dip (which is one of my favourites and I was delighted that I was able to buy the dried Fava beans there so I can make it at home), Feta Saganaki, Grilled Halloumi and a portion of Calmari. After that feast we settled on a pork gyros each - again very tasty. Service was friendly and efficient, prices are very reasonable, portion size was generous and we thoroughly enjoyed it. If it were nearer to us we'd certainly be visiting on a regular basis. It's not a huge room and it was busy so we were glad that we had booked a table.

Visited for lunch today, after reading the reviews on here and we were not disappointed. Delicious meze, lots of food and all delicious. My two children both had the chicken gyros, which was also wonderful. Will certainly be returning for dinner next time. Highly recommended.

Believe it or not, this was the first Greek restaurant m'Julia and I went to in the UK in the six years we've been together. We loved it. Felt welcomed. Gr/eat food, a Gr/eat team working there. We'll definitely eat there again when we next visit Eastbourne

What can I say that has not already been said! Wonderful authentic Greek food, beer and wine, the latter being available to buy for home consumption at an incredibly competitive price. All this complimented by a friendly team of people who clearly have a passion for delivering the very best in customer service, my wife and I are already looking forward to our next visit.

We've been away for 7 months, found this fabulous restaurant on our return.
Haven't had a decent Greek meal for a very long time, this was worth waiting for.
We visited on a Thursday lunchtime, it was busy, and got a table inside. Although there's tables outside in the sunshine too.
We ordered a trio of lovely greek dips, with pitta & white bread, and a Greek salad with Feta cheese, to share. Everything was fresh & really tasty, the salad was delicious. To follow we ordered a Moussaka and pork kebab.
The Moussaka was the best I've tasted in years. Very impressed with the service, quality and quantity of food. The portions are quite large.
But the meal deal on offer for lunch was great value.
Going back this week, love it.

We visited Gr/eat on Wednesday 27th July at 6.30pm. Wednesday was a very busy evening in town as there was a bikers/rockers meet with loud live music performed right at the front door and Harleys flying up and down the thoroughfare outside which was closed to traffic for the event.
Prior to the live music the atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely, relaxed, friendly and typically Greek. Wonderful. The decor is modern but simple with a deli to the rear and it is spotlessly clean.
I had no objection to the noise but I think the restaurant staff felt that it impacted on the ambience that they work hard to create and they did look a little annoyed at the racket outside competing with their Greek music which they then switched off. I think this is a true reflection of the pride that this restaurant takes in its level of service and authenticity. The menu is traditional and a feast for anyone who loves Greek cuisine. Our eyes were way bigger than our bellies. We ordered dips, olives and 5 dishes from the mezze menu, my husband felt he would also order a main for good measure. We were warned that we had ordered a lot of food! Which was nice because the restaurant treated our enjoyment as a priority where other restaurants might just try and sell as much food as possible.
The dips were fresh, home made and served with lovely warm pitta. We then enjoyed aubergine, halloumi, baked feta in a sesame crust drizzled in honey, Greek sausage and calamari. My mouth is watering just thinking back to the fresh beautifully prepared dishes served in generous portions.
Wine is very reasonably priced and the rose was lovely. Husband struggled but gastronomic pride forced him to battle on and eat some of the main course even although it had clearly defeated him. This restaurant is a joy, a treasure that I can't fault other than accessibility for wheelchair users. The toilets are in the basement down steep steps but this is very common for commercial properties in Eastbourne. Wonderful, delicious food, great atmosphere, professional and friendly staff. 10/10 and we will put it at the top of our list if we return to Eastbourne. Well done !

"You will want to keep the taste of the food in your mouth for a while" says my 11 yrs old boy. I believe he is right! The service is superb! The food is freshly Homemade and delicious. The owner Vasilis knows what he is doing. He is a very good host. All the other staff if very friendly as well. Once you try here, you will not be able to go anywherelse in town. I can't suggest you anything because everything is delicious. Must come more than once! We definetly did come more than 3 times in a week.

This has become my favourite restaurant locally. It has an authentic laid back Greek atmosphere, and although the menu is limited the food is well prepared and very tasty. It is not the biggest restaurant in the world and can be very busy at weekends. I have noticed it is gaining in popularity and more and more local Greek people are eating there, which says a lot I think. If you are busting Eastbourne and like the feel and taste of the Greek Islands then you should pay a visit.

The atmosphere is lovely - nicely decorated and welcoming and attentive staff. We had the mezze and in line with previous reviews I would concur that the portions are huge. For £19/head we had six or so different mezze brought out - mostly vegetarian and a wonderful variety of delicate flavours. After finishing those we were feeling fairly full - so when the waitress asked if we'd like a break before the main I thought she was joking - clearly not. We then had pork and chicken souvlaki and a beef stew (served with rice and chips respectively). Then baklava, which needless to say we couldn't finish.
The wine list is very good with some nice Greek wines at very reasonable prices. To answer some of the less good reviews below - understand what Gr/Eat is not. It is not gourmet cooking - it is honest home fare. So chicken souvlaki is just chicken and a few vegetables on a skewer served with chips - but it is seasoned and cooked to perfection, with the chicken juicy and tender. The broad bean mezze is a big plate of broad beans in tomato sauce - but I have not had a better bean stew.
It's the sort of place that if we found on holiday in Greece we would be tempted to go back every night.
