This was my first visit to the Royal Hippodrome Theatre in Eastbourne and also my children's first to a theatre. I have two children aged 6 and 3 and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We were sat up in the dress circle and I was a bit worried they may not be able to see the stage. But the view was great - plus booster seats were offered which made it even better. Would definitely return.

Lovely old theatre but needs serious investment. Run mainly by volunteers who are very welcoming. However I feel that unless funds can be raised the venue will not have a long term future which would be very upsetting

More than 3 hours passed far too quickly with hilarious anecdotes, I didn't want the evening to end.
Roll on the next instalment of his life. The world seems a better place when described by Danny Baker .

Lovely twee theatre. Volunteer staff were wonderfully welcoming and friendly.
If you would like a pre-show drink / meal then the Marine pub is close by and serves good pub food in a relaxed envoronment

We enjoyed every minute of it. Danny was extremely entertaining. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The inside of the building was fine and the seating was authentic and atmospheric. The outside of the building looked very run down.

We've seen a couple of shows at the Hippodrome, both of them really excellent. The theatre is a gem of a building which has retained all of it's character. It's well-staffed and all of the staff are really friendly and helpful. It's close to the seafront and surrounded by lots of places to eat, so part of the recipe for a great night out.

Danny was brilliant enough but when he spoke of the history of the theatre, it brought it all home. Great atmosphere, comfy chairs and a nice drink or two in our seats. Fantastic volunteers run the place and they obviously care. We will be back.

Listened to Danny for years enjoyed every minute of the show. Had my disabled son in law with me. We couldn't fault the theatre at all.

I visited the Royal Hippodrome Theatre in Eastbourne for the first time last night to see Danny Baker. The show and the atmosphere were both brilliant, but the Hippodrome is sadly in need of funding for a facelift. The volunteers did a fine job and clearly are proud of Eastbourne's beautiful old theatre, but it has a 'charity shop' aroma about it, I assume from the old upholstery and damp.
The theatre was much smaller than I imagined, with an impressive ceiling and I'm sure was once a very beautiful building in its heyday. Alas this beauty has faded but is too precious for the scrap heap so the powers that be must support Eastbourne's heritage and fund a facelift before it's too late to save.

Any visitor to Eastbourne should check out this wonderful hidden gem..... tucked away off Seaside you would not know this lovely old theatre exists. Sister theatre to the Theatre Royal in Brighton and now a theatre focussing on the community it offers some rare treats such as last nights fabulous show by the Dublin Legends. Trul friendly and helpful staff, a varied and interesting programme, lovely old building.... what more could you ask!

Many people local people have never been to the Hippodrome, now known as the RHT (The Royal Hippodrome Theatre) in Eastbourne but this is a must. It is the oldest theatre in town and is well worth a visit. Shows are well advertised and a very varied. During the summer there is a variety on two nights a week but there are always a great variety of shows on each week.Lits of good music, variety and speciality acts. The staff are friendly, there is a good bar and if you are really interested in the theatre there is a monthly tour.
The only downside is the lack of parking but it is in town so there is street parking.

The staff were very helpful and organised and made everyone feel welcome. We're enjoyed all the songs and features and, of course, the opportunity to see Cilla.

We would certainly consider coming to another evening at the theatre.

The Royal Hippodrome is a lovely theatre which the wife and I love. Small but really nice and comfortable with a great view of the stage. My only bug bare is the parking is ridiculous, multi story closes at nine street parking almost nonexistent we arrived over an hour before the performance and glad we did we parked approx a mile away. Can't fault the theatre though

I had and always have a wonderful experience at this wonderful Theatre. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and cannot do enough to make your evening great. Thank You very much for all your hard work, dedication and drive. You have made such a beautiful Theatre a resounding success. Saw CILLA AND THE SHADES OF THE 60'S on Thursday the 9th of March and enjoyed my evening so very much.

My first visit to this theatre. Initially I was a bit critical and fault finding that was to be truthful undeserved. It did seem on first impression to be maybe a bit amateur in several respects – but then I overheard one of the staff telling a visitor that it was entirely manned by volunteers, I felt more than a little ashamed at my petty critiques. Suddenly I was transported into appreciation of everything. The little bar (which was rather concealed) was run by an obviously amateur but very efficient helpful barman. Beer was good and I never noticed any “sorry, don’t have that sir”, all well stocked and variety. The show, a tribute to John Denver by Wane Denton was as good as any tribute band I have ever seen and better than many. My only complaint at all was that we were held in the foyer for 30 minutes while “I’m afraid we have a lighting issue so must wait until it’s fixed”. Completely untrue as we noticed the band was obviously late as they were outside unloading the equipment! Were they to have said that, and allowed us in, we could have had a beer before the show! A loss of revenue to the theatre and a loss of a pint for me. Anyway, a truly worthwhile evening and are now booking for other shows, only disappointed that I have missed so many others.

Lovely show to take the little ones to - they loved meeting all the characters in the interval and the singing and dancing went down well.
