Visited the hotel to celebrate my mum and dads 80th birthday. Delivered a cake to reception, staff happy to bring in when required. Alexandra, a key member of staff engaged with myself early on. She made sure that everything ran smoothly. Every member of staff friendly and efficient. We occupied a large part of the drawing room, relaxing and cosy. Gorgeous Christmas tree gave great backdrop for photos (apologies for nieces playing with the baubles!). A happy occasion.

Staff were fantastic!

Bedroom was warm and cosy and spacious modern furniture. Slept so well. Bathroom was clean and hot water was on constantly no drips nothing.

Was a break away, and I will sure to be back!

Oozing Edwardian Charm, and with five star service to match, this hotel is truly grand in every sense of the word, with friendly, genuine staff. Rooms are cosy but not overly pretentious, and the comfortable lounge has recently had a make-over. We stayed with friends for two nights, and thoroughly enjoyed our meals in the Garden Room, the walks along the front, and the live music in the Grand Salon and the lounge

There has to be something for everyone at this Hotel, and while it has a few very minor details that need attending to, I still find it an Oasis to come back to for the spaciousness, the friendly but not-overly-attentive staff, the excellent food, and the wonderful seaside location. Can't recommend it highly enough

Took my parents there for a Sunday lunch in the Garden room, my mother sadly is wheelchair bound and always panics about going out. The facilities are perfect, easy to get the wheelchair up the ramp, wide open doorways, easy access disable loos and the tables are the right height. More importantly the food was great, staff were attentive without being overbearing, we will return.

My husbands company invited all the staff and partners here to celebrate Christmas for a black tie dinner and dance and to also stay at this lovely hotel for one night.
When you arrive the hotel has limited parking if the valet guys are not outside just go into the reception they will arrange for the car to be parked.
The evening was really good the food very good service great staff very helpful and nice couldn't fault the evening the suite was also nice we had a sea view with a huge terrace although it's winter we did go out and have a look at the view.
Will be back soon thank you, the hotel is dog friendly so will bring our lovely King Charles cavs next time.

It was lovely to see that the Grand is not sitting on it's laurels. We were really impressed hoe attentive the staff were without being cheesy.
Our room was lovely. Our breakfast was excellent, enhanced by Attilla who was charming and yet friendly at the same time.
It can only be helped by a lovely sunny December morning walking along Eastbourne's beautiful seafront.

On arrival we received a pleasant greeting and given the card key to our double bed room we were impressed by how members of staff stopped what they were doing and opened the landing doors for us. On entering the room we immediately noticed that a double bed at the Grand Hotel means two single beds pushed together although the room was large it had a very small bathroom.

After an enjoyable dinner in the Mirabelle restaurant we sat next to a lovely log fire in the main hallway but what spoilt the ambience was the coffee table next to us had the remnants of an afternoon tea for two that had been left from earlier that day. Throughout our 2 hour stay in the hall no member of staff came anywhere near us and at 10.30pm we went to bed.

After breakfast we decided to have a game of snooker and entered the snooker room where both full size tables had their lights on but there were no snooker balls or cues and no sign informing one as to where to get them.

Whilst our overall impression was that the Grand is a nice hotel there is clearly a management issue as there are plenty of polite staff but our experience of other 5 star hotels would question the Grand Hotel's rating.

Came for our work Christmas party and decided to stay. The room was amazing and the little touches made it a really great experience. The bed has to be one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The staff were friendly and helpful, could not do enough for you.
The meal at the party was disappointing and to be honest the choice on the menu was very limited and was especially let down with the choice of desert (all fruit based, no chocolate option) I did request just ice cream as an alternative but was told this was not possible. The overall evening however was lovely and the breakfast was great with lots of choice. So overall I had a really good time, just would have liked a better selection on the menu especially the desert.

We came for a 24 hour stay with some close friends and I am pleased to say that this was one of the most enjoyable stays I can remember. The Grand is not a budget hotel, and what you pay for is the highly attentive, yet not overwhelming presence of some truly lovely staff who were on hand to meet our every need. This was true of everyone we met from the concierge to the barman and beyond. When we arrived we sat in the bar area for sandwiches and champagne and immediately began to enjoy the very special feeling of being totally indulged.
We ate dinner at The Mirabelle. Our Maitre D; Ben was on hand to advise on every aspect of our meal, but never intrusive. The food and wine was delicious.
Our room, overlooking the seafront was spacious, very comfortable and clean.
Breakfast in the morning was another sumptuous affair.
Unfortunately, i would not be able to stay in such grand style every weekend, but thoroughly enjoyed the time we had here. Will definitely come back again.

Spoilt by family and pampered by the Grand staff. An experience not to be missed. Afternoon Tea as you always dreamt it should be. Beautiful sandwiches, delicate quiches, delightful pastries, fresh scones with jam & clotted cream and fresh tea topped up a couple of times during our stay.

We went for the champagne option (it was my 50th so why not!!) and this just transformed an excellent afternoon into an exceptional afternoon.

Spectacular surroundings to indulge yourself. Friendly, professional staff ensure every need is met - you will have a memorable experience.

We stayed here for two nights as a little weekend getaway by the seaside. Location-wise its on the seafront so stunning views however in hindsight we should researched the town a bit more. The town is tailored more towards... the elderly, very few bars or mainstream shops but if you're jus coming for a bit of R&R then it does the job! We stayed in a suite with a seaview which was gorgeous, the room was massive with its own (very large) lounge with 3 piece suite. My only comment would be, whilst its nice to see that a hotel has kept its beautiful period character, it could do with a bit of a touch up - some of the carpets were very worn and the walls needed a repaint in places. The breakfast was lovely - great selection of fruit, yogurts, continental or fry and both a la carte and the normal restaurant for delicious and good value for dinner.

My boyfriend took me here for afternoon tea for our anniversary and it was such a treat. Excellent service when we arrived and throughout. The setting was beautiful: high ceilings with chandeliers and oil paintings, a piano playing and a warm fire in the fireplace (which we sat right next to!) The food was amazing, the best quiche I have ever tasted and all the flavours in the sandwiches were completely complimented eachother. There was actually too much food for us to eat (even though wed had no breakfast) so we had to take some home boxed. I would definately recommend a visit here!

We took advantage of an Autumn Break package recently, making the fourth time we have stayed at this hotel. Whilst the staff are generally attentive and helpful and the food in the Garden Restaurant superb, a major renovation is required to bring the hotel into the C21st. When we check-in we were advised that we had been allocated a recently re-furbished room, hhmmm. The finish was not up to a 5 star standard and was very similar to the one we have previously stayed in 2 years back. Would we stay here again, yes but only on an offer package, compared with other 5 star hotels we have stayed at it just misses the point.

We stayed at The Grand for one night. We loved the hotel and found the staff to be very welcoming and friendly. We ate in the lounge in the afternoon and we're pleased with the service. Stayed at The Grand for a last-minute weekend away. We were thoroughly impressed from start to finish. The service was impeccable, the bedroom spacious and well appointed and dinner in Mirabelle was superb (restaurant manager Benjamin was particularly courteous and professional). There is a tangible sense of history to the place, and the location is perfect. The pool is on the small side, but perfectly nice and my wife's manicure was apparently 'one of the best'. We will definitely visit again.

We stayed here last weekend for a 1 night Spa Break package – loved our stay in the hotel but spa needs refurbishment

The Grand is a really beautiful hotel, a little bit dated, but that is part of its charm; it’s like you are stepping back in time when you enter. The staff are all attentive and provide an exceptional level of service. We had a suite for our stay that was essentially a huge one bedroomed apartment, with beautiful ornate furniture and one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. The veranda overlooking the sea would have been nice to enjoy on a less severe winter’s day. We enjoyed relaxing in the main front lounge with a drink, and then later the most exquisite hot chocolate with pots of cream, chocolate flakes and marshmallows. The breakfast has a big range of choice, with everything beautifully served. On the morning we were the hot breakfast was ordered rather than a buffet - we didn’t end up eating again until late afternoon!

Everything about our hotel stay was fantastic… until we got to the spa. The treatments we had were great (but old fashioned massage tables with no proper place or hole in table to rest your head where you can breathe ok. Found it a bit claustrophobic.). The gym was much bigger and well equipped than a standard offering of a couple of machines most hotels have. But beyond the gym and the treatments themselves, the rest was a disappointment. We were there on a Monday daytime, and the pool and associated facilities was mostly full of pensioners who seemingly all know each other and regularly come here and there just wasn’t enough space for everyone to comfortably be using the facilities when you factor in the pensioners, four people who were doing some sort of spa day with lunch and hotel guests. To put it into context – there are 7 sun loungers for the whole place (4 taken by those on spa day) (but plenty of chairs), the pool is small and only fits 4 or 5 people swimming comfortably, the ladies changing room only has one working shower which you had to queue for and also it was busy enough to have to wait for a cubicle to get changed in. particular mention in fact to the ladies changing room which is in a notable state of disrepair and quite shabby and certainly not what you’ve expect from staying at a 5* hotel. What didn’t help was that the pool area was overwhelmingly hot, and it was not at all pleasant to try and relax on one of the sun loungers whilst overheating! The sauna and steam room were actually positives as well. The Jacuzzi had been recently reopened but I think was having some maintenance issues. Overall the hotel needs to throw some money at the spa for some refurbishments to make it worthy of being part of a 5* hotel – with facilities as they currently are choose elsewhere to do a spa day or spa break.

Traditional and timeless Hotel with very helpful staff, from the reception to the chamber maids all the staff go out of their why to help, they listen to what you require then try their best to deliver, excellent English breakfast perhaps one of the best we have had in recent times, bar menu very good for lunch snack, dinner menu varied a little on the expense side but you get what you pay for, the bedrooms are comfortable as you would expect in this type of establishment

We have stayed many a time at this hotel over the years and each time we have enjoyed our stay.

It may need a little updating in the rooms but I love the character of them and I love the character of the hotel. It's beautiful. It's very clean and house keeping are on top of everything.

We usually eat in the garden restaurant and the food is always delicious. There are a couple of managers and staff that we have seen on several visits I'm unsure of their names but it's two gentlemen and a lady who are so helpful and friendly.

The bar area is lovely and relaxing although if your sitting out by the fireplace you can be slightly neglected and forgotten by the staff so maybe the hotel could take that into consideration?

I have to say aside from what I mentioned the staff are so friendly and helpful at the hotel and always make you feel welcome.

The hotel allows dogs which I can't say bothered us but what did was that they allowed the dogs to roam freely with their owner not on leads. If you aren't comfortable with animals I don't really think this was appropriate.

Overall I would recommend this hotel. It's a relaxing escape and if you want that just a little something extra special this is the place to go.

P.s. The cocktails are amazing - def worth trying!

Arrived to find a note at reception saying that the Jacuzzi and steam room had broken down. Then had lo wait for one of the rooms to be ready. This was over a two day/one night stay on 2/3 November. Hardly a busy period! We had booked 6 spa treatments covering two days. My 93 year old mother in law and I went down for our first treatments. Back, neck and shoulder massages. After going down in the lift to the basement, where we walked upon, quite frankly a very old carpet to a Spa area that looked like it was built in the 70's. Then to cap it all the treatment beds did.not have padded face holes, but archaic, uncomfortable beds with retractable headrests (like.a cheap car). I asked for a pillow and was refused one. Very uncomfortable and very cold. Also the 'whale' music on a loop was crackly and highly irritating. This place needs a lot of money throwing at it. Straight after my treatment I went up to my room, got dressed and went down to reception to cancel the following days spa treatments due to the poor standards in the Spa. In there defence they immediately complied with my requests and took money off our bill. In my experience that means they were used to customers complaining about this aspect of the hotel. On the plus side we had a lovely tasting
menu that evening and the beds were very comfortable. I should also like to point out that the standard of finish and cleanliness in the bathrooms left a lot to be desired..

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at The Grand Hotel, Eastbourne. The last weekend was a Gala Weekend entertained by The Pasadena Roof Orchestra. An interesting reception, we met the musicians and the leader Duncan Galloway. They played lovely 20's, 30's, and 40's music in the beautiful Compton Room with dinner dancing. The hotel is very elegant, comfortable lounges and excellent service.
We recommend The Grand Hotel for a relaxing out of season.

We took our grandchildren here for the weekend and could not have chosen a nicer place. Lovely, kind staff eager to help with a smile. We had a Master suite which, though not cheap was perfect for the four of us with so many nice touches, a decanter of sherry, nougat, fruit, biscuits and squash for the children.
The bed linen was of exceptional quality, although to be fair the mattress on the bed had seen better days as there was a large dip in the middle. Yes, the furniture and decor is a little dated but somehow it seems fitting as the building itself is so different from modern hotels- wide stairways and corridors, high ceilings and stained glass in the windows. It has a proper traditional, friendly feel.

We definitely plan to return with the grandchildren in the summer as they can't wait to try the outside pool as well as the inside one which was the highlight of the trip.

I have just returned from a weekend away at the very beautiful Grand Hotel where I had a brilliant stay. The massage I received at the spa was excellent. The breakfast buffet was delicious, the staff were really friendly and our room was really comfortable. I will definitely return. Thank you for such a perfect stay.

This is currently the only 5 star seaside hotel in the country (there are two which will in the next year or two apparently be upgraded to retain their former 5 star status). For now the Grand shows how it’s done.

The staff, many of whom have been here for years, are almost all excellent. On this visit, the porters as usual were warmly welcoming. The head of guest relations couldn’t have been more helpful in finding me a room I was very happy with, and the restarant managers of both restaurants run them with suitable aplomb.

Some of the rooms have been redecorated. The results are not a success. The first room I was offered was an executive grade room which had a bright purple colour scheme and wall lights with exposed bulbs (no shades) which gave a most unpleasant over bright/harsh light. The aim is probably to introduce a ‘boutique’ hotel influence, to try an appeal to a new generation. I must be among the hotel’s younger customers and if I want a boutique hotel room I stay in a boutique hotel (of which there are some of the very best nearby in Brighton). It would be a terrible shame if the purple spread throughout the hotel. They really should get Colefax & Fowler in to do the decorating as that would prevent this kind of thing. The second room I was offered had not been redecorated and was far better. All rooms now have kettles and Nespresso machines, and so morning tea service is no longer standard.

I ate all my meals in the hotel and they were all excellent. The quality of both the haddock and salmon at breakfast is the best in any hotel. The restaurant manager in the Mirabelle, the sommelier in the Garden restaurant, and the pianists in both restaurants deserve particular praise. Would be nice if the pianist also played for Sunday dinner as the atmosphere was rather moribund.

On my visit they had kept the outdoor pool going into November to compensate for parts of the indoor leisure facilities being closed for renovation. They should do this every year as it was great fun and very refreshing to have a swim in a warm pool when the air temperature had a nip to it.

Overall, staying at the Grand is a real treat and I very much look forward to returning.

Attended a business awards here yesterday. It exceeded my expectations! The venue was amazing! The food was spectacular! The service was outstanding. We were looked after by Tom ( Events Manager) and he could not have been more hospitable. Yes this venue is more pricey than others but it is the Grand and it is the best hotel in Eastbourne and even then it's still not overboard in price! You get what you pay for and I would say it's worth it!

My daughter and I stayed two wonderful, pampered nights here in October of 2015, and said we would most certainly return. True to our word, we booked again in October 2016.....for THREE nights this time, AND we brought a friend along with us!

The food was once again glorious - and the service was fantastic - with young Nick in the Garden Restaurant, and Benjamin in the Mirabel. Our rooms were extremely well appointed and comfortable.

Spa treatments were fabulous as well (though we were sad they changed the pedicure option to a 'shape and polish'. Not nearly as pampering).

Hotel location honestly is wonderful, with the boardwalk right in front of the hotel. Long walks in sunshine on a warm autumn day - glorious!

We went to Beachy Head this trip - had no idea how lovely it was there.

Can't wait to return in 2017!! Probably with more friends. 4 nights?? Who knows.
