Perfect for us as a restful break between Xmas and New Year. We love the character of the hotel (we affectionately joke that it is a cross between 'Faulty Towers' and the 'Shining') but in fact we have been coming for the last nine years and have found it consistently excellent in all respects and always recommend it to our friends and family.

Have stayed at The Grand quite a few times and it never fails to please, the staff are so well trained and very friendly with many long serving staff which says a lot. Not stuffy at all.The refurbished room we had this time was lovely, beautiful soft modern colours without loosing sight of the character of the hotel. Just love The Grand.

This a well known hotel with old style courtesy. I have been staying here on occasions for years and it has kept up with the times with modesty and charm. Breakfast excellent.Help with parking in front of hotel. Nothing too much trouble for the friendly staff.

I stayed here for our anniversary. On arriving at our room it became clear that it wasn’t all that we were expecting for a five star hotel. The room was tired and in need of a refurbish. Cold ,out dated, and like staying in a nursing home.
“Still it will do “”. Hope the foods nice.
Garden room for dinner.
Not too busy.
Soup came out cold. (And it wasn’t supposed to be)
I didn’t want to ruin our anniversary by moaning about dinner as well as the room. So I keep quite and wait for my mains. I had the beef. That was near on cold and tasteless. The Mrs had the lamb. Yep cold fatty and over cooked carrots that were you guessed it Cold.
Oh well at least we visited The Grand. Before we left the next day my wife went to the spa. She came back and said the grout was black with mould and the silicone was the same but that was hanging off in places. Overall. Very dirty.
I was emailed by The Grand to review my stay so I told them all the down sides and I didn’t even get a reply So after a couple of weeks grace I have publicly given them this review. How on earth they got 5 stars is beyond me.

For location, good food and welcoming and courteous staff one can hardly do better. No wonder it is so popular. Its style might seem to some as old-fashioned but with it comes a gracious atmosphere and a level of staffing that encourages attention to the needs of the guests.

High standard of service, good Christmas programme. Nicely situated for level walking with sea views.Obviously an old building so unfortunately no rooms with separate shower and bath which would suit us better.

A fantastic hotel with a very warm welcome, amazingly helpful staff and a wonderful atmosphere! A really lovely stay. The hotel has a very homely feel, with staff on hand to help with any request or query.

The Christmas package was amazing from start to finish the service was fantastic and the food divine. My room had a sea view which was great to wake up to every morning. The carol singers started the Christmas feeling then the various bands each evening a real treat. I can’t recommend this hotel enough x

Arrived on Sunday 23 December and departed Thursday 27 December. I have nothing but praise for the friendly, cheerful and helpful reception and service throughout our complete stay. This was our first visit and we found it exceptional.
For our own requirements there was too much food available, but they of course were catering for all tastes.
Strangely we only seemed to chat to couples who lived within a few miles of the Hotel, and many told that they booked every year.
Although we only had the basic room it was spotlessly clean with all we needed, including a coffee making machine.
Thank you

We enjoyed it so much we have already booked for next year 2019. I would have liked a room with a shower cubicle.Other than one or two minor dislikes we would have not hesitation in recommending the hotel to others

We had a wonderful stay at The Grand we have stayed a few times before. It’s an amazing hotel, with good facilities and the staff are so friendly and always happy to help. I would definitely recommend this hotel. I did however find the bed was very flat on one side of the mattress as if too many people had sat on the edge it had collapsed slightly. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Excellent experience which lives up to name 'Grand'. Superb service from polite and customer-oriented staff. Seasonally decorated which adds to the overall pleasure of a Christmas visit, Will certainly repeat this next year, as in previous 5 years.

Once again we have had a lovely stay at the Grand Hotel. The service was wonderful and we will definitely look at staying again next Christmas. This does however depend on the price as looking at next year it seems to have increased by about £50 which happened this year as well. This is a real shame as soon it will become unaffordable for us to keep coming as a family.

Our first time staying here, and wow was it worth it! This is a genuine 5 star experience from the moment you pull up in front of this magnificent hotel. The service throughout is friendly and knowledgeable, , including reception and the bar, the mirabelle restaurant is excellent, and the staff first class! Would recommend this hotel every time!

The winter offer is very good value and we love this hotel for its traditional courtesy to the customer and also for the superb comfort of the lounges which very few hotels can better. The Garden Room Restaurant food was excellent, all served promptly by courteous and attentive staff.

The hotel is nice and for me is the best in the area. Not as expensive as you may think. So before you choose one on the sea front, come here spend a few quid more and you were certainly be rewarded. It has a pool, nice bar, good parking, great food and much more. For me it was £10 per night more (£30 including breakfast). and i was more relaxed the following day.

This hotel just gets better. The newly refurbished Mirabelle restaurant is better than ever and the Garden restaurant is still as great as it always has been. The quality of staff is unsurpassed, the bedrooms are constantly being updated and the overall feel of the place is unique.

We booked the Grand for my mother-in-law's 80th birthday. Hubby and I went down a day ahead of the others and booked the presidential suite! Although it was a bit dated it was huge and impressive. We loved the balcony even though it tipped down with rain most of the time. We hosted a small party in our room which was perfect. We tried both restaurants and they were equally good. Really excellent value for money and superb food and service. Breakfast was also good and my husband particularly enjoyed the kippers. Having spent the previous weekend at the Savoy in London it was easy to compare. The Grand beat the Savoy hands down for rooms, service, value and food and drink offering. Cocktails were excellent! The only thing that the Savoy had was location. I woukd recommend staying at the Grand fir a special occasion. We felt very special and it was worth every penny.

We arrived on the Sunday and everyone was very polite and friendly. The hotel seemed to be quite before the Christmas rush. We had a lovely room although it was at the back of the hotel. The hotel wasn’t full so thought they could have put us in to a room at the front as it was quite. The food was amazing, the staff were so friendly and helpful. Spent a bit of time in the spa which was clean. I can’t fault this hotel at all.

The accommodation was booked by a Friend for our Wedding Night, it was amazing and we definitely would recommend to anyone who wishes for somewhere special to stay after the Wedding celebration. Thank you Grand Hotel and Staff for a lovely experience.

Disappointment,as the evening was for a celebration with friends and we found the food was not to the standard of a 5 star hotel. This applies to the food for the dinner dance and the breakfast the next morning which was tepid and the selection was poor..
