The gallery was showcasing abstract artists, which was not in my field of interest however it was still fairly interesting. The facilities and toilets are very clean and the have a cafe on the upper floor but we arrived much later so unfortunately it was closed . There is a lift and stairs. You need to pay for the exhibitions but there was no entrance fee.

I can thoroughly recommend a visit here. The current pay to view exhibition on the early works of Hockney and Davie is well worth seeing although waiting to queue for a 30 minute video is a bit ridiculous. The Ravilious room is well worth seeing as is the current selection of art from the Towner collection. The Syrian artwork whilst interesting is an example of Israel bashing. The cafe here is very good. All the exhibits apart from the one pay to view exhibition are free.

Air con in galleries a real plus. We had an hour to spare and returned to the Towner for our third visit. Free except for the special Hockney/Davie exhibition. We like Hockney and had not seen these early works and the fee of £10 is to be expected.

Cafe does great cappuccino even though they forgot to put it on their special reduced menu.

Covid precautions fine.

For my shame this was my first visit to the Towner despite being a local. Firstly, the colourful Dance Diagonal mural on the outside it stunning and probably my favourite piece of artwork 'in' the Towner. But there are plenty of treats inside too.

I was really impressed at the gallery's preparation for life during covid. All staff wearing visors, lots and lots of clear signage throughout, saw plenty of cleaning of door handles and my details were taken for track and trace. Probably one of the most well-executed examples of covid security I've seen. Also nice to see almost every visitor wearing masks even though it's not yet law.

The exhibitions were great. The Lawrence Abu Hamdan audio-visual exhibit was simple but poignant, I really enjoyed the Caroline Lucas exhibition and there were a huge number of local scenes depicted and there was - as you'd expect - a big environmental bias.

The Hockney and Davie Early Works exhibit was great. Nicely curated and lots of useful information presented with the displayed works.

Staff were plentiful and friendly. The roof-top cafe was a great place to grab a coffee and tables were all spaced out as you'd hope.

This is a great asset to Eastbourne and looks wonderful both inside and out. It was nice to see so many people enjoying it safely.

The Davie and Hockney exhibition is well worth a visit. We were impressed with the staff and the arrangements for social distancing and the cleanliness. Really well organised and mask wearing requirement an added bonus - ahead of government policy. The small cafe was well set out and organised as well

A wonderful art gallery and cinema space, backing on to the wonderful Devonshire Park tennis centre, close to the lovely Eastbourne sea front. The Devonshire Quarter contains the town's theatres and conference centre and is a must see. The Towner currently has a Hockney exhibition, and the Ravillious room is a gem.

visited yesterday with my wife and a friend who lives in Eastbourne, enjoyed the Caroline Lucas exhibition and also the pictures and woodcuts of Eric Ravilious, a prominent artist who lived in the area in the 1930's. Enjoyed lunch in the cafe and later went for a stroll along the seafront where we saw a murmuration of starlings swooping over the Pier - apparently Eastbourne is quite famous for this, I hadnt heard of this before. PS - entry to the gallery is FREE!

This is the most beautiful gallery with the most delightful staff. We did see two exhibitions both of which we enjoyed. However a visit to the coffee shop was lovely. The coffee and cheese scones were just the best. The lift was out of action and the duty manager went to the trouble of taking us up in a lift via the next door building - what kindness. Thank you.

A light and welcoming gallery with a choice of concurrent exhibitions which are, at present outside (Lothar Gotz to greet you on arrival), as well as inside. The David Nash exhibition was exhibited in areas that allowed space for full appreciation of the full variety of his work over the years. Not the first time I have visited the Towner and it certainly won't be the last with all that's on offer this year - especially with so much for free. The cafe is an excellent place to reflect between viewing different galleries with a good variety of choice, catering to different diets.

This gallery is a gem. Today we saw the David Nash exhibitions. Fascinating. His work in wood is imaginative, skilful and really makes the viewer reflect. There are exhibits over two floors and they include works on paper as well as the monumental wood sculptures. Do not miss the video of Wooden Boulder, a rough hewn monster that he placed in a Welsh stream in 1978 and tracked it out to sea and back until he lost sight of it in 2015.
It needs a minimum of 2 hours to take in the exhibition but you could spend much longer if you had the time.

Excellent purpose built art gallery in Eastbourne. It’s definitely the highlight of the town and for some arguably the only one. The gallery is spread over three floors with separate rooms allowing for different themed exhibitions. There’s also a nice cafe. Entrance is free although donations are requested.
