Fantastic night seeing Elton john

Love this little theatre and some great shows too. Went to see jive talking, a bee gees tribute, absolutely amazing.

Wow what a brilliant place to see live music great tribute bands really friendly staff great to have this perfect theatre 🎭 Excellent thanks.

We went to Epsom Playhouse to see ‘Rocket Man’ (Elton John tribute act if you hadn’t guessed ! ). The tribute act was great but mixed feelings re our first visit to Epsom Playhouse.

Positives:-
Very good for parking as the Ashley Centre is very near-by.

Small theatre so viewing the stage shouldn’t be an issue

Quant seating upstairs in gallery type area.

The sound system and acoustics was very good for a theatre of this size.

Negatives:-
- The bar is quite small and therefore leads to a very long queue at the internal. Fair enough you can pre-order drinks many times you just want to a drink on impulse. This was not possible last night so I was unable to get my daughter a drink. There was a small soft drink vending machine but that only took coins. Perhaps they should upgrade that to a card ‘tap’ payment system?

- Comment linked to above but there seemed to be no where to purchase soft drinks, treats etc other than the bar and coin only vending machine. There was a small area selling ice creams, very small tubs at £4 each but other that that nothing else appeared available. Perhaps consider even getting more vending machines if space is an issue…?

- The seating in the stalls is quite cramped for taller people like myself. Perhaps consider taking out a row of seats to make the leg room better…?

Crowd ambience - We had a large party behind us that thought it was absolutely fine to chat to each other loudly during the event. I looked round more than once and indicated my annoyance but they seemed happy to continue with their discussions! They also seemed quite ‘well on’ so it seemed best not to discuss further with them. Also we didn’t want to move seats as they were no other blocks of 4 seats available near the stage and the view from the seats were good. There was also a large party of in the upper area that shouted loudly at times especially when the artist was speaking. I’m sure the staff do their best but perhaps they need to monitor the crowd more closely, particularly as the venue seems to a lot of tribute type events?

I suppose that behaviour has become a challenge for many theatres (particularly since Covid) and perhaps standards have also just changed through generations eg where it’s acceptable to get ‘bladdered’ first and then talk, shout during a show? Shame though for us that want to enjoy it though….

All that said the show was really enjoyable and the tribute artist amazing but sadly we probably won’t return to the Playhouse again. Not unless there are some significant improvements with the points mentioned and certainly better management of the audience.

What a lovely little theatre, friendly staff, really comfortable seats, brilliant show, women in rock, wow, what voices, absolutely loved it, parking nearby in multi story, will be keeping my eye on upcoming performances

Lovely to have a theatre so close to us. We saw The Rhythm of Dance was overwhelmed with the superb dancers and the music was quality as well very very enjoyable.I must say the staff are very helpful and friendly to.Thankyou.

Quite a small foyer, but staff friendly and helpful. Cosy little bar/cafe with reasonable prices. Great sound system and good teired seating. Big plus point is the Ashley Centre car park adjoining where you can walk under cover if it's raining. Evening car park charge is £3.00

What a lovely theatre,great views and seating, good bar and light food. Varied mix of shows forthcoming. very close to Epsom centre and train station .

Great venue with a fabulous atmosphere

My first time at this venue to see Francis Rossi - Tunes and Chat 2023 Show. Good views from all comfortable seating with leg room for my 6'3" build, I estimate 400 capacity. Car Parking available in adjacent amenity. I would attend venue again for future events.

Went to see The Beatles Experience, took my 6 year sold who loved it.
They put on a very good range of shows for all tastes, ages, and types at Epsom Playhouse, It really is one of the towns gems.

Nice small venue with a good variety of performances, reasonable ticket prices and friendly, experienced staff.

We stayed in the Premier Inn only 5 mins walk away. It is a lovely theatre and only holds 450, so it makes it much more intimate. Very friendly staff that make you feel welcome. We saw TJ Higgs, and it was a great experience. Although the Theatre was not full, it was still comfortable and friendly, with very reasonable priced tickets. We will definitely keep an eye on their entertainment calendar and hope to return.

Newly refurbished seats, better than other local venues.Surrounded by restaurants and bars,has food and drink at its own bar.
Great variety of acts, music, comedy, drama,local and national shows.
Lovely staff and easy access, always a treat.
A great example of a lively, local theatre that serves the community.
The roster of performance and talent continues to improve year on year and often matches bigger venues near and far.
Never been disappointed.
Just back from another show where the audience sang and danced the night away.
Pre-order your interval drink as it's always busy.
Ice cream (including vegan) available in the foyer and vending machines.
The bar is well staffed and provides coffee and tea, snacks and a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Tickets can be purchased via the website, phone, email and in person at the box office.
