I recently purchased a house insurance online from them.
Ups:
1. Low cost.
2. Easy to buy (if you're used to buying online).
3. Customer service operator Joe was good when I had issues. He resolved it promptly and reassured me of any concerns.
Downs;
1. Answers given online before quotation was generated wasn't all correctly transferred to buying stage so checks need to be carried out for every line at every stage.
2. Question wasn't asked during quotation or buying stage but answer was assumed and written in policy so again, checks needs to be carried out at all stages.
3. Amendment (this wasn't due to customer's fault) was hand written on re-issued policy. I expected the re-issued policy have the correct information printed on, not crossed out by pen and written on. This doesn't provide professionalism image of the company.
4. Queries were dealt with by Rock Insurance. I feel HQD should give a clearer explanation of the connection between the two companies.

Overall, I'm happy with the company so far and would recommend people to give it a try.

I have had a landlords insurance policy with Bedford Insurance since 2010, each year the renewal quote is generally competitive so I continue to renew and having as a subsidence claim my options are limited. The overall service and experience has been ok, I have had one claim which required phoning and speaking to staff and it is normally hit and miss on the level of service in return. Overall I am ok with the service but there have been times when I have called and staff have been rude, impatient and patronizing but on other occasions I have had a very friendly, helpful and polite response. Consistency in mannerism in regards to call handling would be good, it doesnt take much to have a smiley attitude on the phone.

Avoid this company at all costs, they have insured my car and my van for years but in the last 2 years things have changed. The staff have become unhelpful and very rude. This year i went to renew my car a month early as i have bought a new car. My quote was £1,400 , last year it was £600 . Im in my 50ies and have years of no claims. Then they said it was a computing error and that they would get back to me. 1. Week later and nothing I've since insured my car elsewhere (£333.56) . This is where it gets interesting. I've asked for proof of my no claims bonus. Guess what? Still no joy. Over a week ago, phoned again this morning and was told they'll send it out, was told this a week ago. Their great when your given them money but after that forget about it. P.S. i will 100% be cancelling my other policy when it's due. Absolute disgrace of a company
