On a business trip to Guernsey this hotel was recommended by the client, and I'm glad I took them up on the information! Beautiful entrance foyer, warm and helpful staff, well decorated and exceptionally comfortable. Plenty of wall sockets and good wi-fi speed made a nice change. I did have an issue with the TV in my room stopping working, and the staff couldn't fix it. They offered me another room to move to or another room to just watch TV in. As it was my last night I wasn't too worried but instead they offered a complimentary drink from the bar - just the ticket! Great service all round. Breakfast was quickly served and very well cooked, the tea was lovely and plentiful.

If I have any slight negatives about the hotel it would be that if you struggle with movement, the amount of stairs may prove troublesome, and the restaurant is quite expensive. The food was absolutely gorgeous, but you do pay for the privilege. The town centre is but a few minutes walk away, but everything seems to close around 5pm, and the walk back is all up hill so you may get some unexpected exercise. There's also a nice little park opposite the hotel for some fresh air. Enjoy!

We had the absolute pleasure of spending 8 nights here to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. Everything about this hotel is amazing - the welcome; the rooms; the food; the cocktails and wine; the service and ALL of the staff. We were made to feel so special and everyone knew us by name.

It was just the most luxurious experience and we chose it as we have stayed at another Red Carnation Hotel and the organisation's motto of "no request is too large; not detail too small" is exactly what is delivered.

Breakfast is amazing as are the evening meals - varied menus cooked with skill and with very high quality produce and very good value. The wine list is also comprehensive and the Provence rose is particularly good.

What was really special were the individual luxury touches and the personal surprises the hotel staff arranged for our wedding anniversary. They were completely unexpected and are memories we will treasure forever. WE WILL BE BACK. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. IF WE COULD NAME YOU ALL WE WOULD!

Difficult to find without a sat-nav so, if necessary, make sure you know exactly where you're going. Signage to any hotel in St Peter Port is conspicuous by its absence (as it is for any other visitor attraction if it comes to that). Parking at the hotel is limited. Make sure you understand how to pay for parking (which is good value) as are the buses. If you don't enjoy a long walk up hill be prepared to take a taxi.
Our room was on the small side so I wished we'd got a larger one

On my third visit to the Duke of Richmond what can I say that hasn't been said before. After a delayed start to my holiday due to fog I Arrived to be welcomed by Elysia and the team on reception and after check in made my way to my King size superior room on the third floor . A side view of the port and the town provided interest at all times of the day.
Breakfast as usual was wonderful start to the day with an array of both hot and cold food.
Most evenings I ate in the Leopard Bar and Restaurant where I think the food and service would be hard to better. I particularly like fish and the chefs provide a great variety of fish cooked to perfection.Always interesting to watch the chefs at work through the glazed screen!
All the staff without exception were a credit and it was pleasing to be welcomed by Olga and the team.
I hope to be able to return 'home' in 2019 . Thanks for a lovely week.

Spent 4 nights here in September . Excellent hotel, great location just 10-15 minutes walk into St Peters Port harbour. Breakfasts were excellent as were the service and staff. I would fully recommend this hotel and hope to visit again soon

We booked this hotel form 1st to 4th September 2018 for a family party of six to celebrate my father’s 80th birthday. This is without doubt one of the best hotels I have stayed in. We all had wonderful rooms, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were great with a good selection of choice, my parents had lunch one day which they enjoyed. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which again was excellent and staff kindly presented my father with a birthday cake which was a lovely and unexpected surprise.

The outside terrace was lovely with comfortable furniture and as the weather was so nice we were able to have breakfast outside. I used the swimming pool on one occasion and it has to be the warmest pool I’ve ever been in. The hotel is in an excellent location although is a bit of a climb uphill from St Peter Port which may be problematic for any one with mobility problems but there are plenty of taxis which are cheap enough.

Last but not least, all the staff are fantastic, all have excellent customer service skills and they go the extra mile to ensure their guests have an enjoyable and relaxed experience. They presented my father with a birthday card which they had all signed and left their own little messages which made it very personal.

We all said we would like to return to Guernsey and stay in this wonderful hotel in the not too distant future. Thank you to all the staff who made this a special and memorable occasion.

A great experience with staff that couldn’t do enough for you.
A great selection of teas to choose from and staff willing to explain the different types.

A great selection of sandwiches and cakes and more than happy to do a vegetarian option.
Would recommend booking direct. The cruise party that came in only had half and hour, not enough time to enjoy and do the tea justice.
Would highly recommend.

My partner and I stayed here twice in August, once with our family and so impressed returning a few weeks later whilst working Guernsey.

The location of the hotel is a 5-10 minute walk into St Peter Port depends on what pace you take. The hotel is clean, modern and welcoming.

Our room was spacious and well equipped for our stay. In my opinion the hospitality in Guernsey is second to none and staff cannot do enough for you. The breakfast is splendid and variety offered very pleasing, the outside area looks out over St Peter Port and is a real sun trap in the summer months.

The pool is warm and again the area surrounding the pool a sun trap, perfect for a cooling swim then chilling out on a day bed. They offer complimentary iced juice / water all day by the pool which is a thoughtful touch to add.

We dined one evening there and the food and service was of exceptional standards.

The only draw back is the lack of parking but this is standard in St Peter Port as parking is very limited everywhere, you do find a space on a side street after a while just don’t forget your clock in the window. There is a small car park opposite the hotel reception but it has a dozen spaces maximum.

I have stayed in most of the hotels in Guernsey, both with family, my children and whilst working, this is my absolute favourite and I cannot recommenced highly enough.

I shall be returning very soon.

This is the second time we stayed at this hotel and as with the first time it was absolutely faultless. It’s in a lovely location and it’s always very clean and pleasant. However the most outstanding thing about this hotel is the staff. Every single one of them will greet you with a with a smile and nothing is ever too much trouble they are always on hand to help. We love it here and cannot wait to return.

A three day break in Guernsey with stunning weather was good in itself but the Duke of Richmond Hotel was a perfect place to add to the holiday. From an initial welcome, to impeccable service and great food, the whole experience was wonderful. The staff in the hotel reflected a League of Nations with about 14 different nationalities making up the team. Every member of staff was friendly without losing their professionalism.
Although we were able to get a parking space they are in short supply but street parking is nearby.

Well words fail me really. This is an awesome hotel situated at the top of the hill but in easy access to the delights of ST Peters Port.
The staff are friendly, helpful and will do their utmost to help you.
The food was first class and easily competes with the restaurants in the town.
Our room was beautifully presented with a feeling of stepping back in time to the hotels of bygone times.
Well worth a visit to Guernsey just to stay in this hotel.

Our holiday in Guernsey was a very special one for my wife and I as we were celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary and were looking for something special and different from our normal choice of Greek isles etc.
The journey to Guernsey was excellent as we flew direct from Norwich Airport (20 miles from our home) by Aurigny Airlines and arrived in Guernsey in just over an hour after an excellent flight.
We stayed in the Duke of Richmond hotel in St Peter Port which as ideally situated near the town centre and port. The hotel was first class with excellent food and the very best of service from all of the very friendly staff - nothing was too much trouble. They even made our anniversary extra special by providing us with little extras in our room and free prosecco with our celebratory evening meal.
During our stay we hired a car and saw most of the island and visited many of the local sights including the German Underground Hospital, the Little Chapel, the Little Chapel, the German Occupation Museum and Castle Cornet etc - all of which were very interesting. We also took the ferry across to Herm for the day and walked round the complete island, which was beautiful and very peaceful.
Tip - If you do not want to hire a car, the island bus service is quick and cheap.

We chose Guernsey for our honeymoon, and wanted to stay in St. Peter Port for the first part of it. The Duke of Richmond seemed to be a great hotel to start our journey, and it really was! The staff was really friendly and very service oriented, the breakfast was very nice with the possibility of sitting outside! The hotel itself was a blast - very unique decorations, furniture and rooms. Would really recommend a stay at this hotel!

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and cannot fault in the slightest any aspect of our stay.
Every member of staff is so attentive you really couldn’t ask for more.
Everything about this hotel is quality and would recommend 100 percent.

This was a trip of two halves. My 16year old Jack Russell has just died and we wanted to have a short break away. We booked a three night stay in a “superior” room with sea view. The room (500) was like a padded cell! It was very small with hardly room to move. The walls were covered in a pink striped fabric which matched the blinds and made the room feel claustrophobic. There was nowhere to put our cases other than on the floor, taking up what little free space there was. Kettle and drinks tray was in the wardrobe. There was a tiny table to put it on but it didn’t feel safe.
The positives were- great staff throughout the hotel. Food was great, although service was slow and the tables way too small.
The main part of the town was downhill which made the walk back quite a challenge.

Lovely hotel, great customer service from arriving , bar staff, resturant service . All staff are attentive without being intrusive. The room was immaculate everything you could need , although it would be nice to have fresh milk in the fridge instead of mini cartons.
The breakfast is great, lots of choice and all fresh.
There is a bit of a walk down hill to the main centre but after breakfast you will need it .
Loved the island and will definitely be back.

Lovely hotel. A bit uphill from the centre but worth the climb. Swift and efficient check in with porter assistance with luggage. Good sized room with view over the park. Just a little more thought could be given to the tea making facilities as beverage tray and kettle housed in the wardrobe so not very convenient to lift out onto the narrow dressing table to use. Bathroom well designed with shower over bath and good quality toiletries.
Restaurant and bar offer customer friendly service and Olga and William stand out from the other staff in their efficient yet unobtrusuve manner. Varied menu with daily specials board.
Personal touches add to the ambience of this delightful hotel so yes we will return.

This hotel is located near the top end of Candie Gardens. It is a quarter of an hour walk through the Gardens and down the hill to reach the Town Centre. However, be warned that it is a real uphill climb back to the Hotel from the Town Centre. We used a local taxi to take the strain of the climb at a cost of about £6.00

When we checked in everything went smoothly. The check in process was well organised and friendly. The hotel took a swipe of my credit card to meet the cost of my meals and drinks. This was very convienient.

We were initially allocated Room 108. This is a Classic Double crammed full of furniture.I have never ever before had to rearrange a hotel bedroom before I could find space to open my suitcase.

To visit the bathroom in the middle of the night it is necessary to negotiate two of three steps. From the bedroom to the bathroom. I thought was a tad risky while half asleep.
The chest of draws looked attractive but was totally impractical. It could not be used for clothing. The draws were too small. The draws would have been perfect in a Sitting Room but useless in a hotel Bedroom.

No where to store suitcases. One window with limited natural light.
If you opened the window to let fresh air in all you got was a fishy smell from the kitchen extractor fan which vented underneath the bedroom window. The smell was not very pleasant.

We asked and were moved to room 111 which was much better. There were two windows for natural light. We were away from the kitchen extractor fan and the bedroom and the bathroom were both on the same level. Room 111 was also crammed with bits and pieces with very little free space. The Wardrobe and shelves were much better than room108

Breakfast was beautiful. Good choice Good servings and efficient serving staff. The Head Waitress, Olga was welcoming and extremely efficient in the way she managed and organized the Dining Room.

The tables in the conservatory area are far too small for two people to sit and dine comfortably. It was necessary to reorganise table space each time the waitress appeared with another course. These tables would be better suited for single diners.
After the first day, we realised that the tables in the Dining Room were much larger than those in the Conservatory. We now had uncluttered space to enjoy our meals for the rest of our stay.

The restaurant has a good selection of meals both at lunchtime and in the evening with something to temp the most discerning of diners. Food presentation was superb. Portions were adequate. Prices were a little on the high side but this is after all a high class establishment.

Despite my comments I really did enjoy my stay here. I would stay here again and am happy to recommend the hotel to others.

My mum and I stayed in a standard twin room for two nights whilst visiting family who live on the island.

Location:
The hotel is less than a 10 minute walk from St Peter Port where you’re spoilt for choice in terms of restaurants, shops and the key attractions. It’s worth bearing in mind that the walk back involves a steep hill climb. Not a problem for us but I can certainly anticipate it being too much for some - nothing you can’t get around with a short taxi journey though.

Rooms:
Our room was perfect for the duration of our stay. It was quiet, wonderfully clean with very comfortable beds and a good shower. There was everything you’d need in terms of added extras too (coffee, tea making, toiletries, slippers and robes) plus lots of plug sockets which I appreciated for my various technology!

Staff & Facilities:
The entire hotel is beautifully appointed and we wished we had more time to enjoy it! The pool area looked stunning and we had a wonderfully relaxing breakfast on the terrace in the sun one morning.

We only ate breakfast during our stay and what a treat it was! It had a vast choice of cold items with plenty of hot options that are cooked to order. Every member of staff we encountered was courteous and friendly - they were so attentive and everyone was clearly there to make sure our stay was faultless...which it was!

I couldn’t recommend this hotel highly enough for anyone seeking a relaxing and luxury retreat. We hope to return in the near future!

We had an enjoyable 4 night stay at this hotel in Guernsey just a few days ago. The hotel, about 12 minutes from the airport, is situated in a quiet area high above St Peter Port (about seven minutes to the sea front by car). It has a spacious restaurant and a large terrace that overlooks the pool and has a view of the sea.
All members of staff were welcoming, pleasant and helpful.
Breakfast was substantial; offering a selection of cold meats, cheese, fruit and pastries and a range of different cooked dishes and served by a very efficient and attentive staff. We had dinner there three nights out of the four and were not disappointed with the quality of the meals. The excellence of the food was complimented by the expertise of the staff. Olga, the maitre d’ ensures the ship runs smoothly. But what also impresses is the ethic of the waiting staff in the restaurant and bar to help one another and ensure that the customer is served quickly and that any request is fulfilled. It was also reassuring that the partition between the kitchen and restaurant was glass-fronted. We were unable on this trip to take advantage of the pool but from the terrace bar it looked most inviting.
We were on the first floor where the lift was not a feasible option for the carriage of suitcases which may be a problem for others less mobile. However it did give quick access to the terrace and reception. Our room was a good size as was the bathroom although the three steps up to the wardrobe and bathroom was a bit annoying. I suspect that other rooms may not have this feature. The bed was massive and very comfortable.
Parking on the island is free but you need to set a clock for allocated 2 hour or 10 hour bays (parking is free between 6pm and 8am). Each night we parked our hire car in the same road as the hotel (the few parking spaces belonging to the hotel were continually occupied), but as long as we left by 10.00am the following morning this was never a problem.
One little niggle is that a few times the reception desk was unmanned (we appreciate that they had other tasks to perform in the office behind) which is inconvenient when returning a key or needing some information.
We would unreservedly recommend this hotel to others.

What can I say, the hotel itself is lovely, with outstanding service, very comfortable rooms and well equipped. Would recommend this hotel. The food in the restaurant was fantastic and the staff cannot do enough. From the staff on reception to the housekeeping staff, all very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend!

Can’t rate this hotel highly enough. The staff are brilliant, extremely courteous and very helpful. Our ferry to Jersey was cancelled at the last minute and the hotel was able to re-accomodate our group of 16 at very short notice.....brilliant.
Rooms are very clean, modern, with lovely touches like great towels, great pillows and a comfy bed.
Definitely recommend very highly.

OK lets be honest. My first impression was not good. On arrival the reception team couldn't find our booking, eventually told us one room number and gave us a key for another room. We had pre arranged and paid for champagne to be in our room on arrival, it wasn't there, but was later put into the room when I complained. From then on in the staff were very attentive and the hotel was great.

On our 1st night we had a meal in the Leopard Bar and could not fault the food or the staff in any way. I can recommend the Lemon Sole and the Ham Hock. We also had another meal later in the week and again this was great in every aspect. I would suggest that you book a table before you go or at least early morning on the day you want it.Breakfast is very good, with plenty of choices that I'm sure accommodates every pallet.

The bar has a huge variations of drinks and im sure they will have anything that you are looking for. Can I suggest that you have a 'liquid cheesecake' cocktail and if Alex is on duty ask him for his own designed cocktail, the 'Pinkett' and I'm pretty sure you will not be disappointed with either. It was interesting that I overheard another guest saying that the staff had made his holiday for him and would be recommending the hotel to friends.

The hotel is only a 15 min walk from the town centre / Harbour but please note that the walk back is ALL UPHILL.

A final word from me, the staff and food make the hotel and all need a big pat on the back.
