A cracking day out. The zoo is stunning and I would recommend saving 3 to 4 hours to visit. The food is also good.Visited on

This is not really a place for kids as it focuses on the conservation and captive breeding of small primates and relatively obscure birds from the Indian Ocean islands. There are a few trophy species but not as many as there were some years ago. A careful reading of the displays and some patience when viewing the exhibits is needed to get the most out of the place. It's also fairly expensive throughout.

Loved the amphibians all the animals looked happy. I was worried about the beats, but there was a sign explaining why. But was absolutely taken by the butterflies.

Jersey Zoo was established in 1959 by Gerald Durrell. We had a great afternoon there. While a lot of animals were nowhere to be seen there were plenty on view. We caught it on a sunny day and it was just lovely wondering around. There were plenty of places to stop and rest or have our sandwiches. You can buy teas, coffees and food there too if you wish. Some highlights: the butterfly sanctuary, the orangutan, the reptiles and the list goes on. There were four of us, including 2 seniors, and we all enjoyed it.

Excellent Zoo, one of the best we have visited. Great enclosures, knowledgeable staff, great history and fabulous setting. Superb, thankyou 👍

My only reservation about this otherwise very good 'zoo' is the relatively small enclosure for the bears. A bear was pacing repeatedly showing symptoms of restlessness or discontent, which made me unhappy. Photo added but a video would show the behavior I am referring to.

Nice zoo, it's a pity that we didn't see all the animals outside and were a bit bothered by wasps.

Nice experience. Came to learn about Durrell during the visit and was very impressed with the work it has taken to bring the endangered species together. Definitely worth a visit.Visited on

Great zoo, went in summer holidays and was not too busy, did not have to queue at all and the park is big enough that people are spread apart and the zoo feels quiet. There is a huge range of fascinating animals and other displays to look at. The zoo feels like a nice environment as well due to the fact the main aim of the business is conservation of endangered species so you are supporting a good cause by paying to visit. There is also a nice cafe and shop.

Surely one of the best zoos/conservation centres in the world. Beautifully landscaped, thoughtfully laid out - an inspirational place to visit. I’ve been several times and it always reveals new delights. I can’t rate Jersey Zoo highly enough.
The children love it, going round with the map, seeing the monkeys, orangutans, flamingos, snakes, butterflies…the list goes on….and I love that beautiful little hidden orchard.
The Café serves a wide variety of food (chips slightly too salty for my taste-sorry!) and all of the cafe staff were very helpful.
The shop at the end and the charity shop are well-presented & tidy. The welcoming staff too are lovely and, well, welcoming!
It’s very moving to visit a place like this, to see the love and care that go into all aspects of its upkeep. It’s a true Jersey gem and I look forward to many return visits as our children grow up.
