A beautiful building with so much architectural detail to view. Even if you are not religious you can't fail to be impressed.
Try to time your visit to hear the choir, maybe at evensong.

A very impressive building, packed with artefacts and always looking for innovative ways to increase appeal. The stone work is sublime and the location commands the skyline from every direction. A draw for artists over the century's and tourists alike

I visited on a Saturday and the Cathedral was preparing for a singing concert taking place in the evening. The Cathedral is extremely impressive and the carvings on the outside are very detailed. We were able to see the Lichfield Angel sculpture and the wall painting. The chapel of St Chad can be accessed by a flight of stairs and it is a lovely space for prayer and reflection. The Cathedral features some stunning stained glass windows.

Have visited many fine cathedrals and this one has nothing not seen before...at least it is still free to visit this one although it is made VERY clear that you can donate in MANY different ways. The most impressive aspect of this cathedral is the front..

A wonderful day spent in Lichfield, The Cathedral is a splendid building, Architecture going back centuries. Also the museum of Erasmus Darwin, farther of Charles Darwin is not to be missed. The Cathedral tea rooms are also a delight to visit.

Passing through on a cycle ride I stopped at the Cathedral grounds for a quick snack. Sitting on a bench outside the Cathedral I was astonished to hear a most wonderful sound, which I can only presume was Choir practice, coming from a building directly behind my seat. The surprise element of the moment was what moved me and I lingered longer just to enjoy the music.

Free to enter, but donations hoped for. Some splendid stained glass windows, part of a mediaeval wall painting, many tombs, including one of two children, a ninth century angel, some Minton tiles and a soaring roof. Plenty to explore.

An impressive cathedral well worth visiting. There are free tours at selected times and the staff are helpful. A bonus at the moment is the Turner exhibition with the original copy of his painting of the cathedral plus some of his sketches leading up to the work. This is also free!

When on my travels I always make sure I visit the local church, chapel or cathedral in the area; I have an active interest in British History and architecture. So I have visited quite a few.
This was my first visit to Lichfield Cathedral and it will not be my last. What an amazing place; full of history from early Christian roots (St Chad), the Civil war, Victorian architecture, stone sculptures/ figures and much more. For me the most outstanding points were the stone figures both in and outside the cathedral. The link to early Christianity is very interesting and St Chad is buried here.
The examples of stained glass and alabaster are beautiful. There is an interactive information screen which covers the stained glass;it would be great if the Cathedral could invest in these screens for the multitude of stone head figures. But there are information boards scattered about.
It is free to enter; donations are politely requested. I view this type of donations as an investment for future restoration work and visitors. Access is good for wheel chair users. There is parking close by; just get their early. Lichfield is full of many interesting sites and the Cathedral is the highlight. At the moment they are running a free Turner expedition. I suggest at least half a day exploring. The staff are very helpful also.

Lichfield is only small but the cathedral is large and impressive. Great architecture inside and out. Worth a visit and a peaceful stroll around

Absolutely beautiful cathedral. An absolute must to visit if you are in the Midlands area. Very friendly and knowledgeable stewards who will tell you the history. Superb coffee shop in the close. Try to time your visit so that you can hear the choristers!

The architecture and skill of the craftsmen/women that created this building was awe-inspiring.
The serenity of the atmosphere inside was amazing and you can't help but sit quietly and contemplate things.
You don't need to be religious in any way to appreciate this place.

I'm not a religious person at all. However, when I was in Lichfield this weekend, after walking through the lovely town, I came to the beautiful cathedral. Had a walk round inside, lit a candle for my beloved late Nan, made a donation. Really is a stunning building. Got a couple of lovely pictures from the outside as well on what was a nice sunny day.

One can only stand outside Lichfield Cathedral and admire its magnificence. The interior is stunning and one can only marvel at the skill of the masons who worked on the building over the centuries and are still using traditional skills in restoration.
An interesting fact that I learned was the for a time Lichfield had its own Archbishop in the 8th century during the time of King Offa.

We spent a lovely time wandering around this beautiful cathedral. It stands on a slight rise at the top of the town so is visible for many miles. I don't know what stone that it is constructed with but it has weathered to a reddy/brown and is very impressive.
Once inside, (free entry but they ask for a donation), you are immediately struck by the vastness of the space and the wonderful calm and peace.
It is the only cathedral in England that has 3 spires which surprised me as it is in a small provincial town and not a large city but no less impressive for that.
The stained glass windows in the Lady Chapel are well worth studying and when you need refreshment cross the road and have tea at the Chapters Cafe you won't be disappointed.

We spent an hour or so visiting the Cathedral over the Easter weekend. It is apparently the only Cathedral in the UK with three spires. The exterior of the cathedral, in particular the facade is especially pleasing with statues of the early Kings of England and some very fine and intricate carving and tracery. Some work is needed to restore some of the crumbling red sandstone especially the flying buttresses. There is a very eroded statue of King Charles 11 on one side of the Cathedral which probably is beyond restoration. Inside there are the usual medieval tombs, architectural details and stained glass all of which are fascinating. As Cathedrals go it is not immense.

The first time I visited this beautiful place it genuinely inspired me to move to the area. I am not a religious man but there is something about this place that moves you. I urge anyone with the opportunity, to go here and marvel at this magnificent place. I love going here to gather my thoughts

We had limited time to visit but what a phenomenal structure with it's unique three spire construction - Entry is free (allegedly) albeit they expect a contribution preferably with gift aid for UK residents.
Our visit was brief but has so whetted the appetite we will return for an extended visit.
We were blessed with a choral and orchestra performance and the acoustics were fantastic.

We could see it in the distance as we were in town for lunch, we walked around the outside of the and found it stunning with lots of detail in all of the stone work. Entrance is free but we gave a donation, we went around the cathedral and wondered how long it took to build the entire place. We went into the chapel and it was nice and there is a gift shop.
