Quintessential England. The Cathedral is a reminder of Lichfield's awesome heritage and past.

On this occasion, this amazing building was complemented by a wonderful display of Christmas trees prepared by local organisations, the opportunity to join in making 10,000 paper angels, and a Christmas market. No wonder it was busy!
There are no charges although donations are, of course, very welcome.
Apart from the seasonal trappings this is a spectacular building - although, like many cathedrals, the outside is suffering the ravages of time.
Any visitor to Lichfield really ought to visit the cathedral.

In Lichfield for the weekend and visited it's cathedral. Stunning! Really beautiful as is the area surrounding it. Inside the cathedral was a food and craft fare with lots of interesting and diverse artisan stalls. Overwhelmingly though, was the wonderful community atmosphere and, apparently, there are several other events leading up to Christmas. Catch them if you can.

A few of us from a trip visited the cathedral.
It was free entry just a donation required.
What a magnificent building.
Very interesting read all the way round.
We were able to light a candle in memory of someone ( donation) and we also assisted in making an angel and adding comments to a loved one, they are trying to make i think 10,000 to hang at Christmas.
Will look beautiful.
They had an evening service that night in the dark which sounded brilliant however we had a prior engagement

Its a lovely building inside and out. On entry you'll be given a guide and advised about how to donate (at the desk or in the donation boxes). We were approached by the priest to ask if we had enjoyed our visit and everybody was very friendly.

We visited on a wet and cold day at 4pm. The two welcomers were very nice and explained that a donation would be appreciated, and would we like to gift aid it. It was done so nicely you couldn't find fault. I specifically came to take some pictures and was pleased to see this is free. As it was such a dark day all the lights were on and it has to be one of the best-lit cathedrals I have ever visited. Atmospheric and, at the same time, illuminating all the important features. There was another very helpful man in the Chapter House telling us about the carvings. The only minus point is the Guidebook which wasn't easy to use as you walked around - it is more of a souvenir to read back at home. Loved our visit and recommend it highly.

A very good visit on Remembrance Sunday. The cathedral is unusual in having three spires and the interior is stunning especially looking up at the central arches. I enjoy monument sculptures and there are many good examples here. There is a model in the cathedral and this gives a good idea of it's structure. The staff and helpers are welcoming and great assisting with queries. We had a choir singing at the time and this added to the atmosphere.

How can you not enjoy such a visual experience as this. It really takes your breath away when you first see it.

The detail of the craftsmanship is beyond belief.

The outside of the cathedral is stunning, as is the inside. On arrival you will be given a ticket at a reception desk, this is so the cathedral can monitor the number of visitors they have, you will be asked if you would like to make a donation towards your visit - there are donation boxes around the cathedral if you wish to donate. The inside of the cathedral is stunning, we have made 3 visits so far and every time we go we see something different. What a beautiful place to spend an hour or so.

We went, one damp and gloomy day, drismal ,I call it ! The building is stunning , and the small amount that I knew about it was useful.(school not competely wasted) There was a small group of people holding a service, in which we joined. We loved it. There is a chapel dedicated to the Zulu battle at Riorkes Drift ,the flags and Zulu shields !!make an impressive and poignant display. We loved it, but words are not enough. Just go

As magnificent as I recalled from childhood. Allow plenty of time to look round, and to enjoy a stroll round the Minster Pool and the cafe.

A truly amazing and beautiful Cathedral, the three spires dominate the local skyline and once at the cathedral they stand proud before you, once inside the place is very well kept and has some wonderful displays and artifacts. The staff are helpful and will explain the history of this truly beautiful cathedral, well worth a look if in the City.

I often visit Lichfield Cathedral as I live not far away. It is a beautiful place and I often take friends and relatives there from overseas and they are always amazed at how interesting it is. I recently went to see the light show to commemorate the Battle of the Somme. It was the most moving and spiritual experience I have ever had. The Cathedral is full of history and is home to the Staffordshire Regiment.
