We made a return visit to this wonderful medieval cathedral after 20 years and it is well worth the visit. This cathedral is an amazing structure built in 1195 with so much to see. We also had the chance to visit the home of and museum to Erasmus Darwin the grandfather of Charles Darwin. He was a doctor and inventor and you can learn a great deal here. The city itself has some pretty old buildings. It's all worth a day out.

Had a lovely walk round with my mum. Beautiful facade and interesting chapter house. There was a wedding going on and as they left the organ started up. Awesome, the whole place was vibrating.

Lichfield Cathedral is definitely amongst the top that England has to offer. With its finely sculpted facade it is an impressive building on the approach. The only three spired cathedral in Europe, it's beauty continues on the inside, with a vast array of stained glass, hidden nooks and chambers, as well as exhibits and tombs to explore. Truly a must visit!

The cathedral of Litchfield City is one of the less well known cathedrals in the UK but is no less spectacular than any of the more famous ones. It's impressive façade is a focal point as you enter the cathedral close and the surroundings are very pleasant with a gift shop, Erazmus Darwin house and a cathedral coffee shop and restaurant all in close proximity. The interior of the cathedral reflects the 1200 years of history at this location and there are informative displays regarding the cathedral as well as local history and relics in the Chapter House. It is free to enter with a donation requested on exit. Certainly one of the most noticeable local landmarks and well worth a visit.

The cathedral is absolutely beautiful and well worth a visit. There was a service on when we got there and although we were welcome to go and join in we decided to have a picnic in the grounds and enjoy the spectacular architecture from the outside in the sunshine before we went inside. A lovely family day out.

A bit taken aback by the welcome - pushing for donations immediately we entered the sacred building. Undoubtedly it is a beautiful building and well looked after but it is a house of God and anyone should be able to enter without being harassed for money. If payment is so important just set an entry price and be done with it. As it was we made a donation into the box before we left the building but it might have been more if we hadn't felt so pressured.

On a par for cathedral buildings. Free entry. Some interactive things for little people. Close to town centre and the Beacon Park.

The cathedral is large and impressive. It seems to have fared badly in the Reformation and even more so in the Civil War. This means that what you say today is a good Victorian restoration, but it does not have quite the same impact as say Durham, Lincoln or Ely. The Belgian Stained glass rescued after the French Revolution is excellent. The exterior is grimy.

Im not really a church loving person i like old buildings and this one is par for the course. If your interested in historic buildings then give a try i was dragged round under duress but others will love it not my cup of tea .

Donations taken at entrance. Guide books at exit.

The cathedral itself is wonderful, lots to see and learn. The guide book (£5) is better than most cathedral's.

Had asked if a guide was available (offered to pay) but told the guide was waiting for other people.

The chapter house is incredible in itself let alone seeing some of the Staffordshire Hoard (different bits from the bits I had seen at the British museum). Not sure why 3 volunteers/staff needed to be there when one bearded guy was playing flight simulation games on his handset and was distracting.

Would be good to see the statute of Charles II given some love. Would have liked to have ventured up to the spires but no such luck.

Went into the Cathedral's cafe for lunch but was too busy so went into town instead.

All in all, a low key visit with so much more to explore. We noticed a poster for a photography session and saw an embroidery themed group tour which shows how keen the cathedral is to open itself to people of different interests. Keep it up!

Coming from York, we thought we knew a thing or two about large churches but this really surprised us. It is so much bigger than one would anticipate from what is, in effect, a small town rather than a city. There is much to see and the volunteer guides are only too keen to point out the best. As would be expected, there is a tranquil air about the cathedral, probably more noticeable to people like us whose home town is always full of tourists, not least York Minster. Not to be missed.

I can't get enough of this place. I love the serenity, history and the architecture. There are knowledgeable guides with fascinating facts and each time my wife and I visit, we always seem to learn something new. Places like this are a national heritage and need preserving because NEVER will anything as impressive as centuries old churches and cathedrals be undertaken again.

What a massive Nave with a view from end to the other. The three spires towering over the cathedral and stories told by the guide, made this a memorable visit

Lichfield Cathedral is beautiful no matter when you visit. We are local and bring friends and relations all the time. It is easy to find and simple to park in the City Centre. Lots of History, friendly staff and very nice. Recommended for all ages. Just a short walk from the City Centre.

As we walked upto the cathedral, we realised we were approaching a special place. The exterior, especially the West Front, is among the most beautiful I’ve seen in the UK.
On entering we were warmly greeted, later we appreciated the help from the friendly volunteer in the Chapter House, who helped us understand the treasures there.
The interior of the building is rather plain compared to the ornate exterior. There were less memorials than we expect to see in a church of this age.
The Chapter House has the Lichfield Gospel on display, plus various parts of the Staffordshire hoard (Anglo Saxon treasure). We appreciated the display about writing a manuscript. I’ve always marvelled at the time it takes a scribe to produce a single ornamented page. Now I understand his labour is just a small part of the work involved in producing the single sheet.
Entrance is free. However you are given tickets, and the volunteer strongly urged us to make a donation at that point – rather too much pressure was used I feel. We refused to donate at that time, but did leave a donation later.
Toilets are outside, but clearly signed. By the toilets the cathedral runs a café, which served us an excellent lunch, and again the staff were very friendly.
This is a special place. It’s one of the finest cathedrals I’ve seen in the UK, so if you have the opportunity, do visit it.

We love visiting the Cathedral. The people are always welcoming and there is so much to see from the 'defaced' gargoyles within to Staffordshire gold and the icon of St Chad.

Definitely worth a visit. Sit quietly and reflect or wander around taking in some great history aided by some very informative volunteers. A highlight was coming in for the men's and boy's choir for Evensong with some beautiful Psalm singing.

Breathtaking 💗💗💗

Stunning, in a beautiful setting on the river. It's amazing it just pops up out of no where in the middle of what feels like a little village.

A must see.

This is such a beautiful place!
Due to lack of time, I didn't have the time to go in to the cathedral. Or at least, that was the plan but the whole place was so impressive that I HAD to see more and took the time to go inside!
