We visited this gothic cathedral 30 years ago, and I want to reacquaint myself with the three spires and the reddish colour of the stone. It is far better than I remember! We attend Sunday Choral Eucharist which we enjoy, but the building itself is a wonder. There are many stained glass windows, but the Lady Chapel with its collection of large Belgian windows is wonderful. There are also many ornate iron grills, and the columns are clusters of stone straws which flare out at the top. There is a strange Chapel of the Head of St Chad, even though the bones and head of St Chad have been missing for 500 years! And finally, there are lovely views of the cathedral across the Minster Pool just south of the cathedral. A treat!

Took a group to the Cathedral and was very impressed with the way our group was helped and welcomed. A great place to visit.

The Cathedral is not only open for public worship, but aims to be a focal point for the city as well as a religious centre.

Right now, the Cathedral is hosting the Turner exhibition, which includes J. M. W. Turner’s painting of Lichfield Cathedral, together with some of his sketches. The exhibition is not merely about Turner: the Chapter House, which contains most of the exhibits, displays paintings of the Cathedral by various artists over the years, including the Cathedral’s artist in residence, Peter Walker.

It is well worth the visit, but if you miss the closing date of 11 June 2017, keep an eye out for other exhibitions and events. There is always much that’s happening.

Visited the Cathedral to see the Turner painting of the Cathedral. A small free show that includes works by other artists including Piper and Girtin. You are asked to make a donation.
The exhibition is only there for a few more weeks before the painting is auctioned by Sotherbys.
The Cathedral itself is a beautiful piece of architecture and is well worth seeing. We walked through the city and ate at The Stables.

Would highly recommend visiting the cathedral, especially now. There's an exhibition on right now, based on paintings of the cathedral over the centuries. The star of the show is the Turner painting, which is going to be sold by Sotheby's. I loved the mixed media work by John Piper, who designed the stained glass windows of Coventry Cathedral. Look above the door of that "room" to see the Mediaeval wall painting.

A quiet walk in carefully tendered grounds brings you to Lichfield Cathedral. It felt like a personal pilgrimage to turn the corner from Mister Pool as you're drawn to the three spires. Highly recommended if you're visiting Lichfield with plenty of coffee shops for a sit down.

We went to see an exhibition of Turner's watercolour painting of Lichfield Cathedral. We were overwhelmed by this magnificent Cathedral and it's three spires. The history is amazing. We got a children's guide which gave us lots of information about the 'angels ' around the Cathedral. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be returning.

Lichfields crown, the Cathedral is stunning both inside and out. A wonderful opportunity to see the Turner picture before it returns to its new owners. A place to sit and contemplate your world.

Lovely Cathedral well worth a visit if you're in Lichfield. The outside is probably more decorative than the inside but the stained glass windows are stunning. It's free to go in, a donation is asked for. The Turner exhibition is a bit disappointing and £6 for a programme when it's just one painting plus a few sketches of Turners is a complete rip off (My opinion....my husband argued with me).

A beautiful building with so much architectural detail to view. Even if you are not religious you can't fail to be impressed.
Try to time your visit to hear the choir, maybe at evensong.

A very impressive building, packed with artefacts and always looking for innovative ways to increase appeal. The stone work is sublime and the location commands the skyline from every direction. A draw for artists over the century's and tourists alike

I visited on a Saturday and the Cathedral was preparing for a singing concert taking place in the evening. The Cathedral is extremely impressive and the carvings on the outside are very detailed. We were able to see the Lichfield Angel sculpture and the wall painting. The chapel of St Chad can be accessed by a flight of stairs and it is a lovely space for prayer and reflection. The Cathedral features some stunning stained glass windows.

Have visited many fine cathedrals and this one has nothing not seen before...at least it is still free to visit this one although it is made VERY clear that you can donate in MANY different ways. The most impressive aspect of this cathedral is the front..

Passing through on a cycle ride I stopped at the Cathedral grounds for a quick snack. Sitting on a bench outside the Cathedral I was astonished to hear a most wonderful sound, which I can only presume was Choir practice, coming from a building directly behind my seat. The surprise element of the moment was what moved me and I lingered longer just to enjoy the music.

Free to enter, but donations hoped for. Some splendid stained glass windows, part of a mediaeval wall painting, many tombs, including one of two children, a ninth century angel, some Minton tiles and a soaring roof. Plenty to explore.
