The 3 spires are impressive and can be seen from around the city. It's a smaller cathedral than many and the stone stemmed softer making it feel warmer. Nice to walk around cathedral close.

I believe that Lichfield Cathedral is the only medieval cathedral to have 3 spires. The cathedral is beautiful inside and has an impressive Rose Window. On special days tours are available to tread the steps to the top of the tower to see a magnificent panorama of the surrounding countryside. In winter months candle lit tours are organised. The cathedral is set in an attractive Close and is adjacent to the City Centre.

A friend from London asked what is there to see in Lichfield? My answer: The only mediæval cathedral with three spires, the shrine of St Chad and a wonderful place of spirituality. Look out for the magnificent Lichfield Gospels and the 'Lichfield Angel.' Next year the superb Herckenrode glass returns from its multi-million pound restoration, so enjoy the Lady Chapel while it is still bathed in pure white light.

You just have to see it! Still cannot understand how people in the 13th century could build such a beaty!

A stunningly beautiful building that took 130 years to build. The interior is adorned with magnificent stained glass windows, the beautiful sculpture of "the sleeping children" and ancient paintings in the lady chapel. Also, the priceless Lichfield Gospels manuscript. These are just a few of the wonderful things a visitor can marvel at in this, arguably the finest situated cathedral in England.

I have been going to the cathedral since I was a little girl. It's easy to take it for granted when you live locally but it really is a special place. If you can, try to coincide your visit with the Lichfield festival in July and catch a recital.

It's worth exploring the immediate area, especially the herb garden (between Darwin House and the Cathedral Close).

The cathedral itself it surrounded by a selection of beautiful historical buildings. The view from the front is quite impressive. Enjoyed the angel trail and other information leaflets which provided items for children to 'find' whilst inside the cathedral.

If you like history you will love Litchfield Cathedral, which has been in existence 1300 years. It is the only Cathedral in England that has 3 spires and the front entrance is decorated with many statues of English Kings, Saints, Angels and bishops. Set in a quiet close of ancients buildings.
Both the exterior and interior is breath taking - inside the vaulted ceilings are some of the best I've seen with beautiful sainted class windows and historic tiled floors. A Jewel in central England. Currently items from Staffordshire Saxon hoard are on display. In the Close outside there is a gift shop and also a coffee shop and there are several car parks near by and a disabled one by the Cathedral.

both the outside and inside of the Cathedral is stunning with so much attention to the detail on all the carvings. A must see if you are in the area.

Unusually now for Cathedrals entry is free. Do take time to see St Chad's Gospel and to climb the stairs to the little chapel set aside for private prayer.
The whole building is well worth an hours of your time.

very beautiful cathedral indeed. The staff were very helpful too. It is "free " to enter, though a donation is expected. Very enjoyable though.

Beautiful cathedral . A bit disappointed that the exhibits from the Staffordshire Haul were away being further researched.

A beautiful building. So much to see. Regardless of ones religious convictions it is a must to see because of its architectural beauty. Not only that but the atmosphere is such that it can almost be physically felt.

I visited Lincoln Cathedral with friends. This beautiful building is located in a pleasant 'Close' with a Shop, Café and Erasmus Darwin's (Separate Attraction) dotted about in different buildings. Before entering the Cathedral do take note of the fantastic statues above the entrance of the Kings of England!
Inside, a warm welcome awaits with one of the Stewards who promptly greeted us and gave us information about the main sights to see around the building. Like most Cathedrals, it is important to look in all directions to see the various carvings, statues and decorations. Lichfield is famous for being home to the Staffordshire Hoard but, at the time of visiting, it was not on show as additional research was being done on it. Their is also a two-tiered chapterhouse with Library tours available at certain times of the year on the second floor. It's a shame that Lichfield has no Tower Tour at present but I was informed that this may be re-introduced at some point.
For a free attraction, Lichfield Cathedral is a must if you happen to be visiting the area. The Cathedral Coffee Shop is also worth a quick stop for some nice cake and a drink to!

Stunning architecture. Worth a visit while you are in the area. Stroll through the town, over the river past the ducks and up to the three spires. It is free to enter, although they ask for donations. Interesting to see the history. There was a service underway when we visited but they don't mind you wandering around. Gift shop inside and a nice cafe opposite.

well worth the trip to see the cathedral ,the staff are helpfull and friendly ,charming shopping area and nice choice of different shops but very much let down by the rubbish about the city the train station toilets smell rubbish again on floor ,came out and across bus station and again rubbish about on the ground not a good welcome for visitors to your city ,the stations bus and train are only small so i would expect them to be clean and more appealing they are not ,clean the place up or you will loose visitors to what could be a beautiful place.

Lichfield has a number of attractions, but the Cathedral is its jewel - magnificent in every way, inside and out! Apart from its architecture, the atmosphere is so very special. They also have a number of music concerts arranged throughout the year and to experience one of these in such surroundings and in such acoustics, is a real thrill!

If you don't do anything else this year - visit this marvel!

A truly beautiful Cathedral inside as well as outside. When we entered we were greeted by a guide who asked if we had been before, her knowledge of the history of the Cathedral was very interesting. I had gone on a rather sad day as my uncle had passed away and wanted to go to the Lady Chapel to light a candle for the family. The guide was very kind and escorted me, I was also able to put in a prayer request which she assured me would be read out. Well worth a visit.
