It doesn't matter how many times I visit this beautiful cathedral there is always something new to see. Christmas is an especially beautiful time with the gorgeous tree displays that have been decorated by people from schools and businesses in the community. There is the Lichfield Gospels exhibition and ofcourse the Lichfield Angel which was found in 2003 during excavations beneath the nave floor. You can sit quietly and reflect or just take in the architecture.

About thirty minutes drive from Birmingham there is a large car park nearby. Visiting the Cathedral is free. The guide book is £5 and they offer free tours which I highly recommend. This is one of the best cathedrals I have ever visited with a long history going back to Saxon times. Every corner reveals something new and the history was so interesting especially the civil war siege. Highlights include the Saxon bible and statue of an angel, the Zulu shields and the medieval wall paintings. The tour lasted about 90 minutes and was so interesting. Highly recommended.

We drive past this city on numerous occasions and never thought to stop. Well we did and were throughly overwhelmed how beautiful the centre is. The cathedral stands majestic and provides a great centre piece.
The staff were informative and the whole experience was lovely. Massive slice of history spread over hundreds of years. We are going back as there was too much to see in our window of opportunity. Free to enter but please give to support this magnificent building. Recommended. The bells just topped it off.

A warm welcome awaits visitors to the Lichfield Cathedral. It was beautifully decorated for the tree festival. A lovely idea and what a good way to get so many groups involved.

You will always find something new in the Cathedral and the Son et Lumiere this year was excellent and moved along very well telling a briliant story.

We were visiting Lichfield for the weekend and decided to spend some time exploring near to the hotel. You can't help but notice the impressive spires of the Cathedral. Lovely to spend time walking around inside this beautiful building and looking at the Christmas tree displays.

As soon as you look at this building it catches your imagination with the amazing scuptures on the exterior which need time to explore and fully appreciate its magnificance. Inside you are greeted with a very warm welcome and entry is by donation of a suggested £5.00. I purchased the guide book which helped me discover many things I think I may well of missed. The interior is as interesting and beautifull as its initial impression on the outside. Take your time as there are so many things that could be missed, the carvings of the different faces all along the walls and the magnificent stain glass windows are wonderful. During our visit poems written by young people lined the walls and were most enjoyable reads; my personal favourite was "I Wonder" by Oluwatobiloba Sofoluwe . I would highly recommend a visit to this wonderful cathedral, I felt uplifted by the beauty and serenity of this lovley building

Always breathtaking and full of mystery every time we visit. Walk around the outside when it's dark and look up too the spires against the night sky.....just magnificent. The small private chapels are a lovely place to sit and reflect as long as you can ignore some very selfish parents letting their children run up and down the steps but that isn't going to ever spoil this truly wonderful Cathedral.
