Peaceful, accessible and we'll thought out. As a serving Royal Engineer I feel the Royal Engineer memorial rather a let down and it could do with a redesign.

We attended the National Memorial Arboretum "Illuminated Arboretum" event last night and it was fantastic. We've been to the NMA a few times in the day but it was really something to see it lit up in the dark. The main memorial in the centre looked even more magnificent. It was tastefully done and extremely well organised. The flow of people was really well controlled so we felt we had our own space to enjoy the walk and take in displays.

What an excellent place to visit, we spent more than 2 hours walking round the Arboretum & still didn't see everything, gives us an excuse to go back. Lovely visitor centre, friendly, helpful staff. The food in the restaurant was really good & not overpriced like a lot of places.

Superbly created memorial to all those that have lost their lives or might still be living with disabilities brought about by their involvement in, not only conflict, but day to day duties with the police, fire service or paramedics. The whole site features names of individuals, groups, units and commemorative tributes in a variety of forms. The central feature is extremely impressive with an alignment slit left between two circular walls that allow the sunshine, if about, to focus on a third wall with statues, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh month. Trees are abundant and we want to return when they will be adorned with spring and summer leaves and colours. The shop and museum are equally impressive as is the restaurant with lovely food and drink for very reasonable prices. We will certainly be going back.

Fantastic place, the memorials are spread out and sometimes not easy to find but worth it if you are looking to remember a relative or be proud when they find the Regiment they served in. Good disabled facilities with mobility scooters available if you can't walk too far and a good restaurant and gift shop as you go in, ample parking and very friendly and helpful members of staff. Well worth the trip.
