Massive amount of war memorials. Free entry, wheel chair accessible, cafe and shop on exit. Well worth a day out exploring history. Lovely peaceful river walk to finish the day off there.

The location is easy to find and well laid out with good paths and signposting around the site. Some stunning memorials. The Far Eastern PoW pavillion is excellent and well worth a visit. The volunteer guides are highly informative and are a great source of information (see below).

On the down side there is little in the way of descriptions on the memorial sites unless you buy the guidebook. For example the stunning glass memorial for the navy does describe how in sunlight there is the outline of a ship in the shadows (thanks to the guide for that). The site map was out of date and at £3 was expensive - £1 uptodate photocopy would be better. Spacious cafe but beef bourguignon with 4 small pieces of beef was, again, expensive at nearly £9 and more like soup.

Visited today. Lots of places to walk and things to see. Well worth a visit! Our 2 year old loved the Stick Man Trail and there was so much space to run around and burn off some energy. The memorials were beautiful and everywhere was so very well maintained and looked after. Make sure you wear some comfortable shoes as you will be doing a lot of walking!
