It's a really beautiful place to visit on a nice day, go for a walk with the family and, perhaps, pay respects to lost friends and comrades.

This is a must see...
Prepare to be humbled by the monuments and the stories behind them.
Perhaps not for younger children (although all are welcome) prepare to spend a good couple of hours if not more.
I was there today (07/10/2023) for the annual RTTW event.

A group of 43 seniors visited the NMA by coach on Friday 6th October and what an amazing place it is. The staff are more than helpful and the grounds and memorials leave a very lasting impression on all. The meal in the restaurant was up with Michelin rating and it is a "must visit" place that should be at the top of anyone's list.

A place to go and remember, but also a place that unfolds history for you, and takes you on a journey.

Beautiful memorials and gardens galore, you can spend all day walking around it. There is a land train you can get tickets for, that can save your feet if you wish.

And the cafe is very nice too, clean, well kept and has a good selection on the menu.

Loads to see and do and with aload of information about what our troops went through in the world war can be emotional in all a great place to go and really helpful and jolly staff. And you can have a break in the canteen. I would say you need about two days to have a good look around and take it in.

The National Memorial Arboretum is an absolute treasure and a profound tribute to our heroes. Walking through its serene pathways, I was deeply moved by the incredible homage paid to those who served their country. Each memorial is a testament to the sacrifices made, telling a unique and powerful story.

The meticulous landscaping and thoughtfully designed monuments create an atmosphere of reverence and reflection. The attention to detail in honouring various military units, historical events, and individual servicemen and women is truly awe-inspiring.

What struck me most was the sense of peace that envelops the arboretum. It's not just a place of remembrance; it's a sanctuary where one can contemplate, learn, and pay respect. The staff's dedication and knowledge enhance the experience, providing valuable insights into the significance of each memorial.

Additionally, the arboretum's commitment to education and community engagement is commendable. The range of activities and events offered ensures that the legacy of our heroes lives on, educating future generations about the importance of sacrifice and service.

Visiting the National Memorial Arboretum was not just a sightseeing experience; it was a profound journey that left me with a deep sense of gratitude and admiration. I highly recommend this remarkable place to anyone seeking to honour the brave souls who have shaped our nation's history. It's a truly humbling and enriching experience that will stay with me forever. 🌹🇺🇸

Many regional army units have been combined into larger units, the history spanning ww1, ww2, and recent operations is here. Fascinating history and current respects. Bring your walking shoes, if you can't walk there's a train, but you must catch it at the center, can't catch it half way around Alrewas.

I love coming here as it is so emotive, if you have any interest in how people and animals suffer in the face of human conflicts. It's not just the armed forces, to whom we should be forever grateful, but many other organisations who support the casualties of war. There are memorials to virtually every organisation that has served our nation. I have personal connections to the Royal Marines, WWII Normandy/Market Garden veterans and BLESMA so I attend the ceremonies when I can and lay a wreath or memento of some kind. You could spend a whole day here easily as it's so big and there is a land train to take you around if you don't want the miles of walking.
There is also chapel where they have memorial services at set times each day.
One slight criticism is the mapping. There is no decent map available of where all the hundreds of monuments are. You can go back to the Central digital information points, search for a memorial or organisation and they will print off an A4 sheet which gives you the rough location, but it's such a tiny scale you cannot read it. I suppose that's part of the experience, like a treasure hunt. Or you ask one of the green shirt guides and they will give you directions. I bought a map in early days, but it doesn't list the memorial, just the 7 areas.
There's a decent café, generally with a good range of hot and cold food and drink, including a roast dinner, although the restricted dietary choices (vegan in this case) are sometimes very limited, and it's quite expensive. Last Sunday it was £3.50 for a brownie slice about the thickness of a digestive biscuit! A filling sandwich was just shy of £4 and £2.30 for a luke-warm, machine black coffee. You can take your own food though.
But for these two things, it would get 5 stars.

Restrooms: Nice clean toilets, accessible, only in the centre.
