Imagine Spa Blofield Heath, Norwich

After a really long week I visited for a facial and to use the spa area. When you draw up it looks oddly like someone's house, but inside it's exquisite. After a glass of bubbly in a sumptuous waiting room, I was led into the spa area. It's quite small but perfectly formed. Great jacuzzi then I went in the first steam room which smelled of grapefruit and was warm but not baking. Really lovely with mood lighting. After you're supposed to go for an ice shower but I chickened out and went for the tropical rainforest shower (a normal shower but infused with beautiful aromas). Then I headed for the hot steam room. Best thing ever. You can have a tropical rain shower of hot SALT in there, which sounds horrible but was amazing. I then did the ice fountain - you grab handfuls of ice and rub them over yourself, which was invigorating. The facial afterwards was sublime and my therapist was fab. She was chatty but not in-your-face, so you could relax. The head massage was heavenly and I was so chilled I could barely make it back to the loungers in the spa area to lie down for a while. I had to drag myself away eventually, as lunch was served in the tiny dining room. The goat's cheese salad was delicious. Best bits? The therapists are lovely. The whole ambience is decadent and welcoming (not like some pious spas where it can feel a bit wholemeal, if you know what I mean!). The steam rooms are absolutely the best I've been in. The tropical salt shower thing was amazing. It's a beautiful place. My friends complimented me on how well I was looking for the next 4 days. My skin had been really dry since the summer but the facial seems to have sorted it out. Lunch is very reasonably priced and very good choice. Downside? It's a bit on the compact and bijou side, so I wouldn't want to be there when it got too busy, but I like the idea that they've got double treatment rooms so you can go with a friend and have treatments together.
