We had a groupon voucher to go here as sraying nearby for the weekend and wasn't really expecting much but we were really pleasantly surprised at how much there is there and the kids had so much fun. We all walked in with the animals and fed baby chicks and some older lambs. The bailiff was really informative and a pleasant guy. We ate in the cafe and had lovely meals at reasonable prices.

Lots of animals to see and touch. Even baby piglets which were so cute.

We have a return free voucher and may just make the journey to visit again.

I seem to be going to so many similar attractions like this and St Fagans takes some beatings.

It is good but not as large as I thought, lovely countryside around.

Was a little disappointed, not really much to do overall.
Very nice scenery, animals are well looked after and information plaques were informative. Found the interactive chats ok for older children but was tough to keep younger ones entertained.

Took our three young grandsons (3,6,7) on a lovely sunny day, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our time there. They liked the gypsy caravan playground area near the cafe, which we returned to as our base after seeing various activities and events. Lots of chickens roaming round, and they got to hold recently-hatched chicks, shown how to hold them correctly by the helpful man in charge. The eldest (7) made a corn dolly for his mother, helped by a patient lady in a small caravan- they all watched and were surprisingly quiet and attentive!. Baby piglets, donkey cart, shire horses, the old farm machinery and the wheelwright were all of interest, and they also enjoyed the schoolroom in the cottage, the maze and the icecreams in the cafe.

I had a great day learning about farming methods of the late Victorian period. The talks and demonstrations by the farrier and wheelwright were very interesting, as was the tour of the farm given by the bailiff. Plenty to see, excellent food from the cafe, and good value for money as well. Highly recommended

Great day out for family with younger children. 10 year old son loved feeding the lambs and seeing the piglets, pigmy goats, cows and horses (shire horses and Shetland ponies). Good cafe for lunch and good picnic areas. Staff were keen to talk about the animals and historic crafts.

Had a wonderful day. Learnt about the farrier and the wheelwright, got to have a sit on a shire horse, and feed the lambs. Kids were intrigued by the whole experience, great day had by all, and the food in the cafe was lovely too

Lovely day spent walking around the far looking at exhibits from the farming worlds history and a variety of animals. We didn't feel the need to rush around at the farm, everything was so relaxed. Very informative demonstrations about being a wheel right a nod how corn was ground using a beautiful shire horse, in a 'gin'. There was opportunity to feed sheep and chickens but we let the youngster do that! Proudly on display in our house, is the corn dolly that I was shown how to make. And the lunch was brilliant value for money. Would certainly recommend to others.

Very interesting and informative. Spent time talking to staff an 89 year old gentleman telling us of his 65 years of working on the farm could have spent longer!! watching the demonstrations and seeing the little piglets.
You get a return ticket. Thinking of a season ticket so much to do over the summer

We were a bit disappointed with our visit , the place looks a bit run down. Yes I know its a farm and I don't expect it to be spotless but there seemed to be a lack of people around , We had expected more things to be actually shown working and more people in costume. Having said that the animals are the stars I think , especially the pig that has just had piglets. I also got to hold a baby duck . There was a really good display of model carriages which was very interesting but that was a temporary display by the model club. There is plenty to see but not a lot of information boards. The café is very good .

What a lovely friendly place this Is. Plenty of walks and things to do. Demonstrations all through the day and hands on for the kids. Walk a donkey, hold a chick or feed the lambs. Staff very friendly also. As for the location. It's a HISTORIC working farm. These arnt found in city centres next to McDonald's.

Great day out and will return this year again.

What an idiotic location! We enjoyed our visit but after a stop for a coffee, only about half an hours worth of attraction. A few farm animals to see but could have been so much more. Good for very young children.

Olde world farm great for children, parents and grandparents- relaxed atmosphere with chickens roaming free and where you can interact with the farm animals.

Loved this little slice of how life used to be back in the day. Excellent performances from the staff recreating how life used to be lived in the countryside. Especially liked all the animals but personal favourite was the two handsome shire horses.

We visited Acton Scott today, three adults, four children and a baby. Admission was average at £34 for all of us but we did get a buy one get one free voucher to go back anytime before October for free. I doubt we shall before then though as the review will explain..
The setting is wonderful and the weather just added to the ambiance today..not a great place to go if it's raining! It states a working farm..we saw two Shetland ponies on the way in, in a metal pen..lots of ducks and chickens, very few sheep, a couple of pigs, one of which had twelve lovely little piglets, two shire horses, calves and a donkey. The only 'work' we saw was the donkey out on the fields..
The children did get to sit on one of the shire horses which was an experience! Other than that there were few workers around, no demonstrations to view and there was talk between staff that were there on how short staffed they were. Given the lack of demonstrations..I recall going many years ago and seeing butter being made etc..we got round the whole farm very quickly and were thankful we packed a picnic to draw the day out a lite longer. Some benches scattered around..plenty of grass to sit on to eat. No toilets that were actually open on the farm, to use the facilities you had to walk back to the car park. The shop was poorly stocked..I was expecting farm produce etc but it was stocked with over priced toys and gifts. There is a cafe on site however we brought our own food so I can't comment on the menu or prices..
An good day out but would have liked to have seen a little more...it's gone downhill since we visited 8 Years ago!

We visited Acton Scott Historic Working Farm at the weekend with my parents who are in their 80's and had a great day out. The talks (we went to ones by the wheelwright and the bailiff) were excellent and would recommend anyone visiting to try to catch them.
It was good having a programme of talks and other events throughout the day as it added some structure to our visit.
The cafe was also excellent selling good food at reasonable prices considering we were a captive audience.
Only improvements I would make would be for additional seating here and there for older people who can't stand up for long periods, and more signage as not everyone would know what individual items of farm machinery were, or what they would have been used for. I would also move the hens away from the calf shed.
All in all a good day out

This was one of those random days out where we spotted it and thought " why not " and I am so glad we did as it was a cracking day out with much to see and do for all the family to enjoy, with petting the animals to the working demonstrations

A brilliant day out. It is what it says it is. Historic and Working. The people working there are extremely knowledgeable and will go the extra mile to advise and explain the workings of the farm to you. Lovely restored 'school house' cafe, serving a delicious choice of food and drinks, not too expensive either.

The Farm is under threat of closure due to possible withdrawal of funding from Shropshire Council. So visit now while you can, you won't be dissapointed.

If you like the idea of a proper historic working farm and a calm, relaxed day out, this is for you! Hold the chicks, feed the lambs or goats, watch the shire horses plough a field or let them take you for a ride on a cart. Acton Scott is a really special place that makes you long for a bygone era with lovely, friendly staff who care about what they are doing.

Acton Scott hold courses in all areas of rural rustic life aiming to educate you in the ways of old. This is the third course I've done with them and it was one of the best courses and days of my life I'll remember for years to come.

Spent the morning grooming the beautiful shires, learning how to tack up with their heavy duty ploughing tack and learning how to wonderful it is to work the fields with these beautiful animals.

PM spent learning how to drive a horse and cart of varying sizes (2 wheel/4 wheel) after a very filling lunch of soup and a sandwich.

I didn't want to leave. Suitable for all levels of confidence and ability.

The staff are obviously very caring towards their animals. Heartwarming.

Fab. Would recommend.

Acton Scott working farm was different in that you are allowed to get stuck in, hands on experience be it with the shire horses or feeding, children and adults can get involved.
Great collection of historic items and a magical coffee shop area.
A must visit if you are in the area.

We were a party of two small children, two 12 year olds, two parents and two senior citizens and we all enjoyed ourselves emensly. There were lambs to feed, blacksmiths to watch, coffee, ice creams and lots of other interesting attractions. We would throughly recommend Acton Scot as a family day out.
