We had a lovely Sunday roast dinner with family for mum's birthday celebration. Nothing was too much trouble, and the food was excellent. Thank you, on behalf of Carol Beaman, for making it such a special occasion.

Check in was straightforward and staff available to help. Room looks a bit old fashioned but really liked the bathroom as well lit with spacious bath. Room supplies were ample.

We (large group of friends), visited Albright Hussey for NYE. It was absolutely fantastic! 3 of us Gluten-free and for the first time ever, we felt as special as everyone else 🥰. The food was incredible, the service second to none, they honestly couldn't have done anymore. We had a fabulous night and cannot thank the staff enough for all their hard work including the DJ who did a great job!
The rooms get a 4 stars because they are not the main attraction of this hotel and there's room for improvement however, I would return and stay here over and over.

Great party venue. Food was very, very good especially for a large party. Disco was not bad. The service was good and beer choice okay. Rooms were present and very clean. Would recommend for any function. Outside gardens were beautiful and they even had two black swans.

Washed ashore here with other stranded souls following cancellation of all trains out of Shrewsbury. Turned out to be a great evening.

The hotel is well priced and looks amazing from the outside the bar area is good and fairly modern compared to the rest of the hotel, the breakfast room and the corridors are period fitting, the bedrooms are comfy although it feels a little dated, I stayed mid week for work and would stay again if I was in the area but I would say the restaurant needs a bit of updating or some better lighting from the dark panelling. It’s a lovely setting and there are good transport / taxi links into the local town for activities or other restaurants if your staying for a few nights

Beautiful old hotel in the countryside. Surrounded by fields and a lovely walk to Battlefield farm shop.
Very close to Shrewsbury town centre. We parked at Battlefield park and ride which was really convenient.
Stayed at the hotel for a private party. Function tool was lovely.

Definitely not deserving of 4 star rating- this hotel is desperate for an upgrade. The TV is tiny and had very poor channel choices. The driveway gives a good impression then you are completely let down. Everything needs review and upgrade.

A beautiful venue, with friendly and efficient service. However, we were given a 'bijou' room, which was so cramped we could not open the wardrobe doors and drawers properly, as there was very little space between the front of the wardrobe and the side of the bedside table - had to squeeze items in and just kept some in the suitcase. TV was tiny - one attempt to turn it on failed, but it wasn't an issue for us. Window looked out on a farm, with horses, which was quiet and peaceful. Bathroom was lovely, with plenty of hot water; but my pillows were the lumpiest I've ever seen! So uncomfortable I could not sleep properly, and with or without pillows had a neck and headache. I think we were unlucky on this occasion, as the rest of the hotel was amazing and beautiful. I would suggest visitors check the room before booking if they can.

We had our wedding at the Hussey and Paul and the team were amazing throughout. We met with Paul and the team on many occasions prior to the day and they helped us to plan and make the day very special. Our guests also loved the venue and we couldn’t recommend the venue enough. The team made sure the day was exactly as we needed, the food was great and everyone couldn’t speak highly enough about the Hussey.

Okay, so Shrewsbury is not the easiest place to stay on a budget. At the time of booking perversely, the Albright Hussey was over a hundred pounds cheaper over the two nights than a Premier Inn or Travelshed. The room i was is was quirky, there were 2 single beds and the bathroom was bigger than the bedroom. Getting back late in tge evening, the main room lightswitch is at the bottom of the stairs that go up to the bedroom, when you get upstairs, theres no switch to turn off the main light, so you have to go back down the stairs, turn off the light, then use the torch function to go back up to bed. The towel rail fell off the wall in the bathroom, (Wrong rawlplugs for a plasterboard wall and too short screws) and the foot fell off the corby trouser press when i moved it to get the to the plugs behind. The bathroom was straight out of Versaille. As i say, quirky.

We booked here as a quick bank holiday getaway, and while the hotel was beautiful and the grounds are great (even in the British rain!) there were a few little details that stopped this being a 5-star review.
The location isn't too far from Shrewsbury town centre, however, it is more ideal if you drive as not everyone can afford or be able to get a taxi here, and public transport looks nonexistent.
On arrival, we were shown to our room and asked if we'd like a cooked breakfast in the morning. We said yes, and looked forward to the morning. The room itself was beautiful, but the bed was far too creaky even to sit on, and not ideal for 'romantic' activities. The spa bath was lovely, however, it is an accessiblility nightmare even for able bodied people. The bath is far too deep with no step up into the bath, or to reach the taps, which could lead to a serious fall. Throughout the night, also, the noise travels quite easily from the downstairs areas into the rooms. Also, we were informed by signage to close the bathroom door whilst running the bath and to switch the extractor fan to clear the steam - but there was no extractor fan?
The next morning we went downstairs to have our cooked breakfast, and while the service was polite, it was also lacking in terms of coffee refreshment and choice of breakfasts.
After this, we went to reception to book out and were presented with the bill of £15 per person for the cooked breakfast - which wasn't mentioned the night before. The issue of the money isn't the problem, but the cost should have been mentioned before taking our names for breakfast. Also, when booking out, we asked for numbers for a local taxi service and the receptionist looked taken aback, and gave us a piece of paper with numbers to call, with no offer to call for us or an offer of help.
The setting was lovely, and the age of the building shone through, however, I would struggle to recommend it at the cost displayed on the website, and struggle to see where the quality of the 4-star rating is.
