After lunching at the Secret Garden Tea Room next door many times we at last dined at the Bistro next door and once again were not disappointed , the setting , service and menu were second to none . My daughter and myself are both vegetarians , my husband and son in law are not , needless to say we all had a wonderful choice from the varied menu and the dishes ordered did not disappoint , absolutely delicious ,cannot recommend it more highly we will certainly be back , the whole experience was more like going to a lovely dinner party with friends ! .

We spent a wonderfull evening with some friends in this french restaurant .
The service was professionnal and friendly and the food was really tasty .The wine list is superb with almost 70 different wines .
The offer is quite cheap for what it is as well with a set menu !We'll try to come back soon !

We came with my boyfriend for dinner and had such a beautiful evening. not only the location is superb, the food refined but the service was excellent. The young manager who served us named Alexis understood perfectly what we were expecting as it was a special evening, he was kind, discreet and extremely efficient. We shall come back !

We were delighted with this lovely place where we went with local friends. Very friendly service and well-trained young staff, not always the case! We were offered delicious little amuse-bouches which you not would normally see in a restaurant in this price range. We loved the French habit of prix-fixe menus and the choices for vegetarians were also very good. Imaginative use of ingredients and lovely flavours. My coq au vin was particularly tender and delicious. The wine list is imaginative and unusual with a good selection of wines by the glass.

Came here for Breakfast on Saturday. The place was pleasantly busy but not overcrowded. Comfortable seating, friendly and attentive staff. We both had poached eggs - always a tricky choice as so many people just cannot cook them properly. Oh, MY, these were just perfect! We did our crossword and were not rushed at all. We were offered (and accepted) a second cup of coffee. Touches like this make all the difference. It was a lovely start to a nice day out.

This an authentic French café in the heart of quintessentially English Sudbury. The service is excellent and the welcome from the staff is warm and accommodating.
The menu is classic French cuisine but there is no stinting on quality. We enjoyed a very filling lunch and all around the other diners were expressing delight at the dishes they were experiencing. It does get understandably busy so it would be well worth booking, or if you want to go for the full blown restaurant experience the Secret Garden Restaurant is two doors back up Friar Street.

Recently visited here for the first time with a party of 5. Couldn’t fault the food or wine. From the starter to the desert everything was very very good. Will definitely return.

The tea shop and garden are lovely, and the new restaurant is fabulous. The atmosphere was romantic, the service perfect, the presentation and quality of the food was outstanding. I was very impressed and cannot wait to go again.

Lookedat several places to eat - this one was was packed i.e. popular and we got the last table ine garden area. The light snacks were appetizing and very tasty, the cakes were very more-ish, and the tea hot and pleasant. Service was quick and efficient (with so many people we expected it to be slow and inefficient). Very, very pleasant - we'd go there again. A secret, indeed!

Lovely old building. Staff very friendly and welcoming. We did not dine there as we only popped in for a drink. We felt the bar prices to be extortionate. However, we are probably not their target market which I would imagine to be diners.

We went for the mid-week option of 3 courses for £23 & the food was excellent. We all had different main courses & all agreed they were very well cooked & presented. As we were driving we only had a glass of wine each and left it to the sommelier to pick for us as we all had different meals. His choice was excellent--he obviously knew his stuff. The young waitress was charming as well.Altogether a lovely evening

Delighted to get back to the Secret Garden, this time to celebrate a birthday. It was great last time but , I believe, the whole experience just gets better and better.
Our starters of Lobster Salad and Heritage Tomatoes were sublime. Clean tasting and light. My partner tells me that her Roast Sea Bass was exquisite. My "Jerk" Sirloin was cooked to perfection and the cumin flavoured guacamole enhanced the whole dish. A lovely selection on the cheese board. As I was the only one drinking (someone had to drive and the birthday took preference), I let the young sommelier choose wine by the glass for each course. A wise move. He clearly knows his stuff and I would trust him again.
Great service and our thanks to what must be a superb team of chefs in the kitchen. Can't wait to get back.

Absolutely outstanding, wonderful food, wine and service. What a team and what a delightful evening. The food is top quality with amazing flavours, wine cellar is of a quality that you wouldn't even see in most London restaurants and at a fraction of the price. I can't recommend highly enough - five star dining.

In this era of identical gastropubs and chain eateries, its good to find a 'real restaurant' with individuality. We very much enjoyed our meal celebrating Bastille Day this year. We followed the set menu with matching wine and much of the meal was delicious. Only the pudding disappointed, the taste of the peaches being completely swamped by too much raspberry coulis. The staff were friendly and attentive despite the restaurant being full for this occasion. I would agree with other reviews that the prices are on the high side and wouldn't want to eat here every week but for a special occasion its a real treat.

The food is fresh & beautifully presented with thoughtful friendly staff. Everything is made in house and nothing's better than finishing your lunch with a great choice of cake or choice of "specials of the day" deserts.
They have now expanded the business into the larger premises next door,so need an excuse to visit Sudbury in the evening (I believe from Thursday through to Sunday) however I think the secret garden is the excuse to visit Sudbury town centre.

Very enjoyable evening meal supported by attentive staff. Attractive building. 3 course meal well presented and a reasonably set price. All in all well worth a visit. Seems quite small so probably best to book in advance which we did
