This restaurant really is lovely and good value for money considering the quality of the food and wine. We really enjoyed it all and the service was attentive and friendly and most importantly sincere.
Recommend visiting the restaurant if you are in the area and book!

I have been here several times. For coffee, for cake, for a light lunch, a full lunch.. and every time it is just superb. If you sit inside, there are several quirky cosy spaces to choose from. If the weather is good, the garden really is a must! It always makes me feel like I’m on holiday! The staff are always helpful, friendly and accommodating. I recently went for lunch and decided on the set menu. However, being gluten intolerant I was unsure what I would be able to eat. The lady who served us spoke to the chef and said no problem at all. I might not get exactly what was on the menu but he would adapt it accordingly. These are people who really understand and appreciate food, and that is so obvious from the way it tastes to the way it is served to you. The day time set menu is really great value for money and something I will definitely consider again. On other occasions I’ve had just coffee and cake. The coffee is always great and I generally get a choice of 2 or 3 GF cake options. The Secret Garden is not just about eating, it’s a whole experience, and I love it!

Visited last weekend. We had booked and just as well as restaurant was nearly full. Staff were very welcoming and friendly and not over intrusive during the meal. Food was excellent with a modern twist to some of the dishes. Good value including a bottle of wine. Excellent range of wines.

We visited this restaurant on Saturday. We were meeting my brother who lives in Sudbury. The welcome for the staff was very friendly and professional. The restaurant is very comfortable.
The restaurant says that all their food was home made! It certainly seemed to be! The meal was very tasty and really great quality. Even the rolls were clearly home made, very rustic, and tasty.
They had a good selection of wine, and we bought a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which washed the fish down nicely!
I definitely recommend this restaurant- not cheap but great value if you enjoy a fine dining experience.

This is a lovely little restaurant where the staff are welcoming and attentive without being over bearing. Food is very well prepared. The fixed price 3 or 2 course meals are a good idea. I would suggest booking is essential and a visit would not be disappointing.

Went to Sudbury to meet up with my wife's sister and husband for a few days. Really can recommend this restaurant. Very friendly and very good food with attentive relaxed staff. Only problem was that my chicken Kiev was over cooked and a bit dry but everyone else's food was really great.

Visited previously as visitors to Sudbury and had excellent lunch so chose to return rather than try elsewhere. We were not disappointed and again thoroughly enjoyed a lunch with a French accent. Even better, the owner and chef gave me a great tip for making my own pate brisee which I intend to put to good use when we go home: perhaps the (ex?) chef who disliked this place did not have the good fortune to meet its charming owner, or the lovely waitress who also served us?
Main problem: being spoilt for choice between two desserts but a spot of sharing solved this. Not sure of Sudbury’s other culinary choices but if/when we return it is most likely to be here again for lunch.

There is a restaurant and a cafe next door. The restaurant menu was too stuffy for our kids so we ate at the cafe. Food was excellent. Service not at all bad considering how busy it was on a Saturday lunchtime. Run by a French guy that really cares. The mackerel toastie was great, my wife had one of the specials; the cakes and desserts are great. The homemade jam and sourdough bread are excellent. Everything cooked in house. I don’t give out five stars lightly - this was easy. Bon apetit!

Restaurant found online by one of our party, and what a good find. Great food, apricot soufflé to die for according to my wife, fantastic waitress who was very knowledgeable about the food and wine on offer, great atmosphere, would go again when next in Sudbury.

Called here on the the off chance and found it to be a real treasure. bit off the beaten track for us, but very well worth while. We had lunch in the garden under the sun shade, a really lovely spot. We have every intention to return and the lamb was superb.
Keep up the good work you deserve to succeed.

Two of us had a wonderful dinner last night and the food was faultless. What is always so note worthy is that the service is equally wonderful and, very importantly, gloriously unobtrusive. Thank you for cooking food to such a high standard. It is a great treat and pure pleasure.

Went for a birthday lunch time meal, from entering the door to leaving the restaurant service was excellent with advice on food and wines. Good price for such lovely food which is served so beautifully on the plates. Complimentary potato wedges with cream fraiche & black bean to start and complimentary nougat and and chocolate to finish. Merguez Salad was tasty and a big plate for a starter. Main was Beef Ribbeye which was beautifully served with sweet potato wedges, carrots and a Swiss chard. The dessert Lemon Soufflé was delicious and so light it melted in your mouth. We will definitely be going back there.

We visited Sudbury and wanted to enjoy a quality lunch so looked for restaurants on Trip Advisor. We found this excellent French restaurant on the website and were not disappointed.
The restaurant itself is a listed building and was very clean with great atmosphere. We received a warm welcome and were served immediately by the very friendly manager.
The menu itself was not extensive - around six to eight items each for starter, mains and dessert. This was because everything was freshly prepared from fresh ingredients. We liked everything on the menu which is unusual so whatever was chosen would have been equally enjoyable. The lunch was fixed price for two or three courses and we thought it was extremely good value.
We loved everything about this eating experience and will return next time we visit Sudbury.

Our first visit to The Secret Garden on Thursday evening was wonderful. We walked in and were warmly welcomed. We hadn’t a reservation, we had only just arrived in Sudbury, but they found us a table. The food was amazing and menu had so many delicious choices that it was difficult to choose. The building is 500 years old and fascinating. I would recommend The Secret Garden to everyone. Although busy the lovely waitress made time for everyone, very efficient and friendly....just right.

Both the Secret Garden restaurant and the cafe next door are excellent places to eat. Go nowhere else to eat in Sudbury if you are having a short stay. The staff, food, service and ambience of both are top notch. The food is interesting well cooked served and tasty to the palette. The owners care and it shows in the detail. Prices are good food is fresh. You won’t be disappointed

The meal was ok but not of the quality one would expect from the exclusive hype that this venue seems to have gained, overall a disapointing evening,
