Light Cinema Walsall

I had wondered why another cinema was needed in Walsall, since the Showcase at Bentley Mill is within striking distance. However, we went to the Light Cinema yesterday evening to see “I, Daniel Blake”, which the Showcase was not screening, and were persuaded that this is a useful addition to entertainment in the town. The cinema was fresh and clean, with more spacious seating than at the Showcase, and a much more intimate atmosphere. Being at the Wharf, it is more convenient for access, although the slight downside is that one has to pay for parking. Apparently it is free across the road after 18:30, but we came to an earlier screening.
We are pleased to see the number of eating places that are part of the complex, including Choquito, which was our favourite restaurant when visiting the Showcase. It has closed at Bentley Mill, but we are glad that it has reopened at the Wharf.
As other reviewers have pointed out, it is easy to book online and choose one’s seats in advance. We’re impressed, and will visit it again in future, possibly in preference to Bentley Mill.

Very nice cinema so clean and new. How long will it last?? Make the most of it whilst it does. Quite a up lift to Walsall town centre.

How refreshing to find a modern, clean and reasonably priced cinema. No long queue to buy tickets, friendly staff and roomy modern seating. Even the bar prices are reasonable.

Been here loads since it opened really impressed, the staff are all friendly and it's clean! No sticky floors I like how easy it is to book online and choose your seats. It has a bar so you can take alcohol into the film if you wanted I was a little sceptical of this at first thinking people would get a little rowdy but so far it's worked well never had any problems. The only down side is the paying to park which you do not have to do at most other cinemas. When they had the £5 tickets it wasn't too bad it still worked out cheaper. However I'd still pay the extra to go here as it's a lot cleaner and the seats are far more spacious and comfy.

Was disappointed when I first went. It had just opened, the car park was full, as you went in there was a mass of people either just coming out or waiting to go in- chaos.
The second time I went, I parked at the Wharf car park, just over the road-free after 6pm & loads of spaces.
Walked over road, easily selected seats and tickets from machine and went through/up to cinema-nice and smooth.
When got into screen seats were spacious and well planned, and the screen was awsome, so much better than the other Walsall Cinema with it's sticky floors and cramped seats etc.

We have all been to watch the bfg this is a great addition to Walsall town centre the place is spotless and theirs plenty of staff on hand to help.
Great afternoon out.
Only negative is the confectionary is expensive but that's expected at cinemas and they do have some good deals and free refills .

Have visited on a few occasions now with both friends and children.
I have to say this is a lovely new cinema!
The prices if you go before 12 are brill, ideal if taking the kids. If you go large with the popcorn/drink combo (only 80p extra) you can have it refilled for free!
Staff are a bit slow in serving both in the bar and at the kiosk.
You have to pay to park if parking neAr the cinema so bear this in mind.
Lots of places to eat before or after close by.
Will definitely be my cinema of choice from now on.

Have to say slightly disappointed that members of staff was told through out the film that, people was getting very noisy and drunk, they was still allowed to continue through the film and upset many people trying to watch it. I give the manager his due, as many of us complained at the end for the way it had been handled, and given vouchers to come back again, i think if your selling alcohol on the premises, security will be needed in the future, such a shame as it spoilt the whole night out.

Have been to the cinema a few times and have. It been disappointed. Only gave 4 stars because hate having to pay to park (although the wharf car park is free after 6pm). Love how easy it is to book online and print tickets when you get there. Although the last time I went the guy scanned the ticket straight from my phone. The cinema screens are always clean and the chairs are very roomy and comfortable.

The cinema has only been open for 6 months, it was my third visit yesterday. Cinema is spotless, seats are comfy, staff are great - a little hidden gem for anyone who hasn't visited yet. Also benefits from bars and places to eat in the nicer part of walsall would highly recommend

A nice new clean cinema with great bars & restaurants in its vicinity.

Spacious seating with a good variety of films showing.

Really enjoyed our evening out and by far the best cinema in this and the surrounding areas.

Great cinema, licensed so you can also have an alcoholic drink. Nice sized screens, comfortable seats. Large popcorn you get a refill. The only improvement would be Ben and Jerrys ice cream

First visit to The Light Cinema it's excellent so clean & comfortable. Well thought out with seating arranged so you can still see when someone is in front of you, low down drinks holders and a table with wine glass holders too. Prices really good only £24 for a family ticket. Paid £10 for a monster combo of popcorn a drink and sweets. Refillable before the end of the film. Can't fault anything really good. Would definitely recommend this cinema it's by fair the best one for miles.

Excellent place to come. You can choose were you would like to sit in the cinema. One of the members of staff show you on a tablet then you choose. Great deals on tickets and family bucket pop corn and drinks which are refillable during the showing of the film.

Great cinema with comfy chairs, a full stocked foyer which is reasonably priced and a welcoming bar area where you can also purchase an alcoholic drink to take into the screening with you. The monthly pass is great value with a discount on goods purchased in the foyer.

I went today with my husband to watch Suicide Squad. As it was our first visit, we were not sure where to pick up our pre-booked tickets. The friendly staff were quickly on hand to help. The screen room was not quite ready when we arrived, the staff were very polite and told us where we could wait. The seating was very comfortable and the whole venue was very clean and tidy. The only negative for me was caused by another customer sitting in the same row (row E) who spent most of the film either texting or checking his phone! Annoying or what. Perhaps a member of staff could do a couple of walk throughs - (old school ushers) which could prevent/ stop this from occurring in future. Apart from that Well done to all concerned!

We visited the Light Cinema on Sunday evening. We parked on Crown Wharf shopping centre, as this is free after 6pm; I am unsure what time you have to pay to park just outside the cinema. We had booked tickets online and the machines to collect the tickets are there when you come into the cinema. The drinks and snacks are as expensive as all cinemas, but they do offer refills on large drinks and popcorns, so if you are sharing this might be a good idea. The film started promptly, after 30 minutes of the usual adverts. The chairs are so comfortable and fabric is not itchy if you are wearing shorts or a dress. The seats are staggered, so no matter how tall the person in front is, you will always be able to see. I would recommend this cinema and I know they accept Meerkat Movie tickets too!

My husband and I took our two young children here yesterday morning and were pleasantly surprised by this cinema.
As you walk in there are easy to use screens where you purchase your tickets and choose your own seats. It took us around half a minute to do this. The price cost almost £10 less than another cinema nearby.
At the refreshment stand we were served quickly by a lovely member of staff.
We were in screen 3 which was immaculate and the seats were big and comfortable. The whole cinema was spotless and unlike another cinema chain we used to go to, there were no rowdy gangs of youths hanging around.
We will definately be visiting again soon.

The only thing I will add is that to make it absolutely perfect the cinema should rethink the prices of their sharing bags of sweets and chocolates. A bag of skittles and a bag of magic stars cost £2.95 each. Wow.

Decided to try The Light Cinema after recommendations from a close friend. Decor was pleasing to the eye. Ticket machine was easy to use. Staff were friendly. We were especially impressed by Glynn who welcomed us in the auditorium and wished us an enjoyable film. I've been going to the cinema for over 20 years and that is the first time I have ever experienced that warm hospitality in the actual screening. The toilet facilities were excellent with half hourly checks. Glynn also welcomed feedback after the film which we duly gave. We would definitely recommend this cinema and we will return. 10/10!
