I have been visiting the Vine for years. Never disappointed. Excellent food, very fast service and well-kept real ale.

We only go to the NEC from Lancashire once or twice a year but it is always followed by a quick detour to the Vine. Superb food, fast service, very reasonable prices and lovely staff. Gets very busy so go early to ensure you get a seat. Wish it was nearer home.

Crowd of us went on Saturday before football. Usually crowded on match days but brilliant atmosphere with banter. Great beers including Bathams and Staropramen larger. The curries are one of the best in the Midlands especially the chicken claypot. Fantastic selection of indoor barbecue with a wide selection of sauces chips and bread. Great prices, well worth a visit.

I must admit to being biased here. I was born in West Bromwich and lived on the road adjacent to Roebuck Street (where ‘The Vine’ is located) for the first eleven years of my life. Thus, I have unusually fond and quite atypical memories of the area. We lived in Roebuck Lane long before the area was scythed apart by the M5 motorway. I remember ‘The Vine’ as being a small local pub (I think that it used to be called ‘The Roebuck’) which I was obviously too young to enter under the licensing laws current at that time.
The West Midlands is known for its profusion of excellent Indian eating-places and ‘The Vine’ is a real ‘curry pub’. My adult son and I visited it for lunch prior to going to ‘The Hawthorns’ (the home ground of West Bromwich Albion) for the Saturday football match and this was our first visit to ‘The Vine’. The area around ‘The Hawthorns’ is not over-endowed with pubs and ‘The Vine’ itself is one of the closest but it is still about a mile from the ground. Not surprisingly, therefore, ‘The Vine’ attracts a large number of clients (mainly West Bromwich Albion supporters, though away fans are welcome) on football match days and we suspect that such days provide a major source of the pub’s income. On such days, ‘The Vine’ is very much a niche establishment catering for football supporters.
We parked the car in ‘The Vine’s’ own small car park at a match-day cost of £5. The car park was clearly not in high demand and it did not fill. The small frontage of ‘The Vine’ belies its real size. Whereas it was originally clearly a small local pub with three small parlours and a bar, it is now vast. Beyond the parlours, there is a conservatory-like room, then further back there is another large room, then another with an open grill, then an external covered section that is not fully enclosed. I had not expected anything of this magnitude.
‘The Vine’ does not accept reservations on match days. We arrived at about 12:30 (kick-off was at 15:00) and we quite easily found somewhere to sit in the conservatory area (at this stage there was still quite a lot of space available). There was a continuous influx of customers all the time we were there and the place became quite crowded though there was still standing space out at the back. Indeed, it felt as if a large proportion of the spectators at the match were there! We only ordered a relatively light meal each of channa masala and a pint of Batham’s bitter for me, saag aloo, pilau rice and a soft drink for my son. The food was good, the portions were of a reasonable size. The total cost was about £21, i.e. much cheaper than in some other parts of the country. Service was quick and efficient even with the large clientele (who were good-humoured and friendly). The toilets, although small, were clean and could cope. I would definitely recommend the establishment, especially if you are going to ‘The Hawthorns’.

My family have been coming to the vine since the 90’s even when we moved away we still came back, it’s our ‘second hime’ and always will be, even now I may be 25 miles away but always come down here every few weeks with the missies as it’s a great place and close to my heart.
The reasons being the food is fantastic and reasonably priced, the variety on offer is excellent, the range of local, branded and guest ales is superb and also reasonably priced, the staff are always friendly and helpful and the atmosphere ranges from chilled and relaxing mid week to lively and energetic on West Brom’s Home games.
Shame the children’s area was demolished years back as I had fond memeories as a kid on there but as times change and the lib grows, it could still do with a children’s play area so the kids do t get bored or run up and down the aisles.

Visited many times in midweek. Mainly early evening on football nights. Always met someone from Away supporters ranging from Swansea, London to Wolves/ Villa; this place is known far and wide.
So long as you can get in then the food and drink are good. In rear the hot coals burn and deliver great, non varied, food includes naans.

Crazy busy ahead of the game, but amazingly the pub managed huge throughput of hungry fans with high quality chicken tikka kebabs. The pub is cavernous, must have been 500+ people inside, may be even 1000. The main irritant was queuing twice, once for the BBQ and once for the beer. There will be a way to make that one trip.

The vine offeres consistently good food along with excellent customer service.
Even when it's very busy, the staff serve and take orders at the bar extremely quickly, I must also say they are very warm and welcoming staff.Quality of the curry and other dishes are very good, and still excellent value.
If you think the curry is good, try the amazing grilled food, located at the rear of the pub, you won't be disappointed!Already looking forward to my next trip to the Vine when I am visiting the area.

We are so happy we found this little gem... and it is not little either. From the front it looks small but it is a Tardis and once you get inside there is tons of space.
The food was amazing, we had the Piri Piri Chicken and Chicken Tikka from the grill and it was excellent and the Nann bread was bigger than my head and to top it all off it was bargain. Our whole meal came to less than £15.00

We found ourselves here before a football match and had a very good curry.
Limited range of real ales on (two maximum)
Not sure why else why you would end up in the this part of the world, but it’s almost
Worth coming back for that curry

My visit didn't start off promisingly when I saw one of the chefs casually rinsing his hands without soap whilst on his mobile in the toilet. Not that it's a problem using your phone and rinsing your hands, but the use of soap would've been more reassuring especially if he'd used the toilet.
Back to the review. I've eaten at three of the pub-converted Indian restaurants in the Sandwell area now and I don't believe that this is the best one. I had the vegetable biryani which was rather red and not too many vegetables. There was a very small amount of sauce with it, however, it was tasty. For beer I had a real ale which didn't taste the best. Friendly bar staff.I may go again and try a vegetable curry with rice instead of the biryani.

Used to visit with my late husband, both of us Albion fans. We'd make a point of getting here early before the match. Great selection of tasty, well cooked Indian food and nann breads cooked to perfection. If you want a great atmosphere before or after the match, this is the place. Last time I came, was pleased to see everything still up there for atmosphere and taste. Keep up the good work fellas.

Do not be put off by the exterior. The Vine serves great food for a great price. There are plenty of choices from the BBQ to the standard menu and the staff are friendly. Portion sizes are huge, we recommend shish kebab and the garlic naan!
Sometimes you cannot beat a good chilled curry at a local.
The only negative is that as soon as I introduced this place to my boyfriend, he cannot get enough which is not good for the figure. It is his favourite place to eat on a Friday/Saturday night and I can't say I disagree.

Popped in for a quick business lunch, great choice of Indian classics, nice selection of beers, very reasonable prices, and very quick service. No wonder we keep coming back so often.
PS. Don’t be put off by the outside appearance this place is a gem.

You order charcoal cooked meats from the grill & curries from the bar.
Don't do what we did, got excited at the grill......ordered too much succulent chicken tikka as starters which left (embarrassingly) no room to finish the curry, rice & amazing naans we ordered for the main course!
Really interesting set up, located next to industrial area, very busy with locals told us we'd made a good decision.
After feasting well, and sampling the many draft beers/ciders on offer; we knew we'd made a great decision!
Thank you Trip Advisor contributors... without who we'd never have found this gem.

Whether you are in the mood for a curry or something from the grill, you won't be disappointed. My favourite is the spiced Tilapia fish. Usually very busy, and the staff are always friendly

We eat here most weeks always have the bbq, the bar staff are always friendly. Went today and parked on the vines carpark at the back, I parked over the last line because only a matchbox car would be able to get in the last space and it would be difficult to turn in or out anyway. Waiting for our food a barmaid came to ask us if we could move our car as management said we’d parked over a line.
I went out to move it there were plenty of other spaces for cars to park mine wasn’t causing a problem at all! I moved it to a space near the entrance without a problem, I just find it amusing management was there why they couldn’t ask us themselves 🤔 and was it there car parked in the space when we left 🤔🤣

We went to the Vine on recomendations from a friend who said how good it was,
When we arrived we walked into the tardis type building as it only looks like a small pub from the outside but once inside it is quite a large eating place complete with indoor grill. The food was first class and we all enjoyed ourselves.
I will definitely return in the future

Many years ago my family used to bring me here and I can’t believe it’s still standing. The food is still great but the only let down is the kids area isn’t no longer there. Staff all pleasant and food came out so quickly! Great stuff!
