A beautiful park, many areas unchanged for decades. Trees are wonderful in all seasons. As they change through the year you really get the feeling of nature and how it responds to the climate. A real pity that the autumn illuminations are no longer provided - they were magical. For us walking in the park is spoiled by people who let their dogs charge around off lead. This results inevitably in uncollected dog poo, on paths as well as in grassy areas, and the odd confrontation between dogs. To keep everyone happy it would be a good idea if people walked their dogs off lead in the extension but kept dogs on lead in the formal area of the park (gardens and lake).

Massively impressed with the improvements made to the visitor centre. A far cry from the lifeless "keep off the grass" signage. Now a welcome addition to a Sunday walk

I've lived near the arboretum all my life and have always loved the place. It's a little piece of heaven within a noisy, hectic town. I'm currently training for my couch to 5k and this place was my first thought when deciding where to train. I always get here early morning and it's great because the arboretum is almost empty aside from a few runners and dog walkers. God I love this place early morning. Although I always take the same route, there's always something different to see on my runs. I might even start bringing a bag of nuts for the squirrels!

Lovely water park for a hot sunny day, always a nice atmosphere. I like that it has a good sized park. Very colourful, you can park for free, then a few minutes walk to the park. They also have a snack stand so you can get tea and coffee. There is a toilet there too, ideal for a cheap day out. Take a packed lunch as there are benches and lots of grass to sit
