Stayed here for one night to meet up with friends. In a great location right in the heart of Bolton . Plenty of bars and nightlife and great shopping too. Rooms are clean and spacious.

Stayed here for two nights with my daughter. The lady on the desk realised she had booked us into a room where the heating didn't work and moved us straight away. Nothing seemed too much trouble. I asked for extra decaf coffee and was given a handful of sachets. Requested a taxi - sorted. Needed to store our luggage on check out day so we could shop before we were collected by my son and the girls happily put our luggage behind the desk. The pool was lovely and warm and very calm due to the lighting and colour. I was the only person swimming and would have appreciated some quiet music as I felt quite vulnerable in the silence - the pool is not manned. My only complaint - the changing rooms were freezing. I treated myself to sticky toffee pudding in the lounge while I waited for my daughter. It was amazingly good and well worth the money. All in all,a lovely hotel with very friendly, welcoming staff.

Nearest available Holiday Inn when working in Blackburn (30 minutes). Above and below ground parking available, so ok for high vehicles, but entry and exit needs care for longer vans.
Excellent welcome and checkout from friendly, efficient staff. Prompt room service. Hotel has a pool and small gym. Close to town centre.

when we arrived we were met with a smile. The receptionist told us about the facilities and gave us the breakfast and Dinner times.

unfortunately when we got to our room it wasn't to our liking. Not a problem the same receptionist came up to meet us with new keys and showed us to our new room.

A very clean hotel with comfy beds.

I just wish that they still had the Indian meals in the evenings. The present menu isn't to my taste but isn't terrible.

I would recommend.

Good breakfast - nice range of fruit, cooked bacon etc.

Room comfortable and clean

2 niggles = the 1 time in my life I wanted to use the trouser press it didn't work! Second, the shower dial had a 'poltergeist' that moved the dial to very hot all by itself!!

Very helpful staff, who were more than happy to assist. The bathroom was pretty dated with some chips on the bathtub which were a concern. The room itself was very comfortable. I would consider staying here again were I travelling to this location.

I attended a wedding here last summer and the venue was great. My partner and I had booked a room to stay the night here and our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The hotel was modern and the all you can eat breakfast in the morning was great. The swimming pool downstairs was also nice and quiet. Drinks were rather extortionate here which is the only negative. I had to get some alcohol to keep in my room after a while to avoid needing to remortgage my house. We easily spent more on a couple of rounds than we did the room itself. Apart from this, the hotel was lovely.

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting family. Room comfortable and very clean. Breakfast very good. The only minor issue was the bar service which, although friendly, was a bit slow. Bolton isn't great for hotels but this is okay for a short stay

The underground parking is very tight for access and tight for numbers. Restaurant and bar area lack atmosphere. The dinner menu was limited and uninspiring so we visited a nearby Chinese with a ÂŁ13.95 buffet offer. Breakfast proved acceptable with a good range of well-presented hot food. The bathroom was clean and functional though safety handles at an appropriate height on the wall for safe access to the shower-in-bath were noticeable by their absence. Bed was comfortable but very badly made with the bottom sheet not properly straightened. Lighting and TV system good. Free and quick Wi-Fi (as an IHG Member) was a positive. Disappointed that Reception were unable to accept new reservations - might now seek an alternative.

Its not the best standard holiday inn , but there's not much choice in Bolton. Location is good , free parking and free WIFi. The staff are very friendly so if you can get a good price it's worth a stay

My wife and I stopped here while visiting family on our trip back to the UK from our home in Italy. There's not an enormous amount to say about it except that the service was good (above average), the rooms comfortable, and the price was reasonable.

There is an underground carpark, but it wasn't secure when we visited. Also, the intercom from the carpark to reception didn't seem to be working, so we had to walk up the down ramp.

There is a reasonable bar in the restaurant which was averagely priced, although sadly, they didn't serve Guinness. Breakfast was the usual self-service with quite a good range of food, including normal sausages which are getting rarer these days.

Overall, a good place to base yourself if you're visiting the area. Oh, and it also has free internet with no registration which makes a nice change.

I normally stay in a Travelodge, but I was taking my hubby away for his birthday and to an event in Bury and wanted a bed big enough for 2 people to comfortably share. I discovered during my research that this hotel had a king sized bed, so booked here. The bedroom had all that we required and the bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast was good and there were egg cups for my boiled eggs (it is surprising how many hotels do not have them,) but had to asked for a spoon to eat them with! The staff seem slow and not quite alive, it took two of them 10 minutes to clear a table and then only wiped around the outside. One diner was making toast and some bread must have got caught as we saw smoke billowing towards the ceiling, hubby pointed this out to a waitress as none of the staff had noticed and by this time the smoke alarms were going off!
The weather at home was cold and dry, but Lancashire had snow and this froze to ice in the evening. On our return to the hotel late evening there was no room in the 2 disabled bays outside or the underground car park. But there was up an incline to the side of the entrance. This had not been gritted/salted and we could not drive more than part way up. Were given a free ticket to use the car park opposite but would need to move our car by 9am. We were hoping for a lie in, but now no chance. Hubby spoke to the manager about our parking problems and he said that grit had been applied, no evidence of this, anyway we were given a 25% discount of the bill. Would we stay again, probably but not in the winter or a Saturday night. The music from a function stopped about 12.30am but the drunken revellers either banging our bedroom door or falling into it at about 2.30am and then getting up early to move our vehicle didn't bode for a relaxing weekend.

We stayed here over the Christmas Period at short notice and enjoyed it. Very comfortable and Spacious rooms. We did struggle to get a car park space but one become available after Short wait and it did not put us off. The Room service was timely but not a large menu. We would return.

This hotel is the easiest in Bolton - there's not a great choice anyway, but I work here on contract so need a place very central most weeks over next 6 months. This is my third week of needing to book and as I go to do so again, I won't. The Holiday Inn is a warm, friendly hotel with nice staff. No frills but good value and feels cosy to stay. I now have to book the Travelodge and will from here on. Why? Because there is no soft close on some door on the ground floor and it constantly reverberates through the whole hotel? It is relentless. Why does it take a customer to point it out? Why three weeks later does it just bang away disturbing everyone? Because nobody gives a toss - it's not their problem. Well it is a problem for me - and now you - as that's 6 months regular business lost (plus any of my colleagues up from London). Please don't leave a "thankyou for pointing it out/bringing it to our attention" reply - it is something you have to choose to ignore!? Also don't promise to repair, then not? I may consider booking in again in a few weeks as it's convenient but I will ask if the banging door is fixed?... if not I will expect a full refund. I pay for a good night's sleep - I don't get it? What a shame. This could have been such a good review.

I had booked two rooms for four of us. After over four hours on the road we arrived tired around 10pm on 8th December and parked in the underground car park. We had a family funeral to attend the next morning and needed a good sleep. First impression on arrival at reception was how smiley and efficient the receptionist was and we were quickly in our rooms which were a good size, clean and comfortable.
The following morning we had a leisurely full English breakfast which was very fresh and the restaurant staff very attentive. My problems started when we went to leave and found my car had a flat tyre. Missing the funeral was a distinct possibility and panic started to set in. I phoned reception from the car park and asked them where the nearest tyre repair place was. Before I knew it the hotel maintenance man appeared with a compressor and tried to pump up the tyre but it was obviously not a slow puncture and it remained flat which left the only option of fitting the spare space saver. What impressed me was that he offered to change the wheel for me which I graciously accepted and he did so saving the day. We got to our appointment on time which was a big relief. To me this qualifies for a 5 Star customer service award and I will certainly be using this hotel when visiting my Bolton relatives in the future. Thank you Holiday Inn Bolton! Ian Rosewell. AFORDABLE LUXURY.
My Wife and I have stayed at this very nice hotel on several occasions mostly around Christmas time. We live quite close by but there is such a nice atmosphere that it has become our annual Christmas treat. This year as in the past we arrived just after lunch on Christmas Eve and checked out late on Boxing day morning. The reception staff were most helpful and smiling and we arrived in our room within a few minutes. The room ticked all of the boxes on our special requests list and was very clean with all of the equipment and little extras in excellent working order. Also surprisingly was cleaned and refreshed even on Christmas morning. When we opened our door to go for breakfast we were pleasantly surprised to see a Christmas stocking hanging on the door. A very nice touch.
We had a lovely meal in the restaurant on Christmas eve served by an efficient happy young lady who later seemed to be multi tasking as we came across her several times during our stay in a variety of roles. The 3 course meal was both succulent and satisfying. Breakfast on both mornings was ,to put it mildly “A feast” The choices of cold and hot food on offer were quite amazing and all served on a buffet basis, although there were ample staff on duty more than willing to help if required. Needless to say we had pre booked our Christmas lunch which was served in the magnificent Cloisters Restaurant, a very nice festive occasion a traditional lunch, nicely decorated room and table and of course Father Christmas with gifts for the children. All in all a very pleasing experience.
The bar lounge where we spent both evenings was very nice and the staff attentive without being obtrusive, all of them appearing to be happy in their work with a ready smile and game for a laugh Making this another very enjoyable stay at this fine hotel. THANK YOU. We will visit again.

Easy to find with underground and level parking
Didn't use, but leisure facilities on-site.
Staff were more than helpful and very pleasant. Room was very spacious and lovely and clean.
Very nice shower.
Dinner was enjoyable and the trust worthy holiday inn breakfast makes a good start to the day.
If your planning on having dinner and breakfast on-site pre buy the meal offer.

Rooms were fine with comfy beds. They didn't cope well at breakfast, ran out of cups and tea and there were quite long waits getting things sorted again.
