Your staff are truly amazing and did everything to make our stay memorable including full use of spa and letting us leave our bags there day before to save stress on wedding day. Hotel is clean, friendly and breakfast was scrumptious πŸΎπŸ‘°πŸ»πŸ’πŸŽ©πŸ’’β€οΈ

We stayed 2 nights over a weekend originally booking a king size room. However we were disappointed to find that the bed was actually 2 single beds joined together. After calling reception and asking if they had a different room (and being told all kingside beds in the hotel are like that) we were offered a double room and a key was brought up to us within 5 minutes. The new room was a little less dated than the first, had a better and one big bed so we were happy! We were also given a token for a free drink each at the bar that night which we appreciated!
Next morning we wanted breakfast and were given it at the offer price of Β£10 per head - which is still quite steep but we enjoyed it.
The hotel was central for us and all the events we had to cram into the weekend. It was clean and the towels were fluffy. My other half used the pool and sauna and has no complaints - the sauna was perfect temperature.
Hats off to the staff at the Holiday Inn Bolton. They were friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Would stay there again.

We spent the weekend at the Holiday Inn in Bolton. The hotel is well situated for Bolton town centre. The rooms are standard Holiday Inn, if in need of modernisation. Free wifi throughout. The breakfasts are buffet style with plenty of options. The Cloister makes a fantastic wedding venue, a converted old church works really well. The wedding meal was excellent, and service was good. Parking can be a problem when the hotel is busy and breakfast can also be a bit chaotic with large coach parties staying on both Friday and Saturday night.

The hotel common areas are much more high end than the actual rooms which are a bit mundane and dated but seemed clean. We had a room facing the front and listened to sirens on and off all night. The town is a bit rough. There is a shopping mall with a new cinema going in just down the street a bit from the hotel. Their is also underground parking.

The staff did a great job welcoming us and assisting us with any of our questions. They offered us some nice deals on the food which was nicely prepared. The room was comfortable and quiet. It was a lovely stay.

Before arriving we read previous reviews and to be honest what has been written previously is true in so much as the hotel decor is dated and is in need of much needed tlc but in no way did this affect our stay.
We had booked two executive rooms which I believe are standard rooms but with the addition of a basket containing bath robes, slippers, small bottles of wine, chocs and shortbread.
My in laws room was fine but ours had a damp, musty smell to it which was reported. We were assured it would be "refreshed" but if it was we did not notice.
Another irritation and a big black mark was a dirty towel which had been used and left on the floor by us, which was found, neatly folded up and back on the towel rail the following day! Not the best hygiene or customer service eh, Mr I H G?
This too was reported to the
reception staff who were very efficient and pleasant as were the rest of the staff we met during our stay.
Whilst on the customer service theme, the promotional blurb on the tables regarding special deals for meals off the favourites menu, it may be advantageous to save weekend guests embarrassment to have it noted that the deal is only available Monday thru Thursday, unless it is already noted and comes under the phrase 'ask staff for details".
Special shout out to Rachael for organising our teas, coffee and poached eggs in the morning even though the dining area was very busy at breakfast time during our stay and all done with a big friendly smile:) Thank you.

I would give this three stars if it weren't for the staff. They were incredibly nice and helpful. It is an average Holiday Inn -- just what you would expect. But the staff helped us with a very crazy schedule of checking in and out every few days, holding our luggage and doing some laundry at no cost to help us. The rooms were nice, large an d clean. Even the staff that took care of the rooms was nice and always engaged us in conversation. I'd stay here again!

As Holiday Inn's go, this one is totally average. The rooms were exceptionally 1980's and there was mould in my bathroom - I did raise this on check out and the staff didn't seem surprised. Breakfast seemed fairly basic with a limited choice if you are feeling healthy.

We stayed here for 3 nights as my husband was taking part in IronMan Bolton.
This hotel is perfect for this event as its only a short walk to town and the run route and finish line.
The hotel itself is really nice although could do with a spruce up and a lick of paint here and there. A few of the carpets were worn and there was some peeling wallpaper here and there. But the hotel was clean and the rooms are a good size with lots of storage.
The staff were all really friendly from reception to the maids.
The breakfast was your standard hotel buffet breakfast and was ok, nothing special. The great thing was they served from 2am on race day, giving all the athletes and spectators plenty of time to eat and get to Pennington Flash for the 6am start!
We used the pool a couple of times which is small but nice and quiet. If you want to use the gym it's available to all guests but it's very small with 2 treadmills, 2 cross trainers a bike, a rowing machine and some free weights.
Overall this is a really nice hotel and we have already booked to stay for next years race

My stay was very brief... I arrived at 3am and left at 8:30am (intentional). The check in staff were very warm and friendly. The hotel comfortable, but the floor I was on was very tired looking. Room however was comfortable.

We've stayed in this hotel a few times as it 5 min walk from railway station and in the centre of Bolton. Also easy access from Manchester Airport and Manchester. It has begun to look a bit tired on our last few visits. We had a room on 4th floor which was very nice. Didn,t see any other rooms/floors on this visit but all appeared recently decorated and new carpets. Lovely clean, bright room and bathroom. Bar menu until 11pm which was good for us. Pizza, sweet pot fries and a bottle of wine. Staff always friendly.

Swift check-in, room on 1st floor, tired decor in halls and room but generally clean. Comfy bed, clean bathroom, excellent shower.
Pool very warm but again dated and changing rooms mostly clean but mats could do with replacing, poor showers. Sauna good/ as expected.
I paid Β£18 for a dinner voucher at reception which got Β£20 plus free drink (house wine, beer or soft drink) had hot wings good size portion - excellent and Chicken Caesar Salad again delicious!

Breakfast was good, some made to order items, only fault would be the juice which is a juice drink rather than fresh.

Excellent location for Boltfest can't fault it for the weekend deal we had. The staff were friendly and looked after us. Just one thing be careful if taking a minibus at the front entrance use the back gate. Also free parking for guests will defiantly return next year for Boltfest.

Stayed here to attend festival in park just on outskirts of town, short walk into the centre so quiet enough apart from wedding function. We were on second floor - maybe worth asking to stay high up as possible if event on as pretty noisy but we were impressed by quality of the room - yes there was some kind of 80's hairdryer in the bathroom but it had a bath and shower.Soap smelt nice always a nice touch -Twin room a bit cramped but cheaper and more modern than other b & b we stated in the night before, with free use of pool and gym definitely good value.Coffee, tea and milk small ration for two people but presume you can ask for more.Reception very friendly and helpful, would have been better if could check in earlier.Says 3 o clock,so I sweltered by the pool whilst my friend had a swim, but they were able to facilitate us checking into room at 2,and we could have had option of leaving our bags.Would stay here again

We have stayed here a number of times previously, and would normally say that it is a good comfortable hotel.

Unfortunately there was a function on this night, which we would have been better off attending rather than trying to rest after our 4 hour drive, as the noise from the music, drowned out the TV, so any chance of sleep was nil while the event continued (half past midnight).

When we complained to the staff, they were unable to help apart from providing ear plugs, due to being fully booked, perhaps future bookings of events should confine the attendees to the first floor and place other guests higher. Better still advise guests when booking of possible noise or restrict the volume of such events.

Tragic.
Shame. Really is.
The hotel is centrally located and the staff are lovely. Special mention to Jade on reception who is lovely and great at her job.
Booked in and got an upgrade as an ihg platinum member. Sadly the room spelt of pee so they swapped me no worries. (Jade)
2nd room was ok. But sadly this place looks like it stayed in the early 90's. The rooms are tired, the bar needs a revamp and the pool / gym is falling to pieces. (The sauna closed for technical reasons...tiles falling off the walls in the pool area and a gym that's as big as most people's front rooms) Breakfast was good but unless they spend a huge amount of money soon this is going to end up being taken out of the ihg brand and will spiral out of business.
PLEASE revamp ASAP. You have great staff. Don't lose them.

I stayed here whilst travelling through on business. A good location to the town centre, and easily walkable.
The rooms were of a good standard, and the service was good through out my stay. Parking is a bit tight in the underground car park, so be mindful of this.

We were here for lunch and I have to say the food has improved a lot since the disaster at Christmas the food is hotter and better cooked. I would say a new Chef is in place.
The service is very good with the staff cheerful and very helpful.
Well done to you all

We've just spent three nights at the hotel. Our impressions were positive on the whole. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and staff helpful and pleasant and location, of course, perfect for town centre. However, I felt I must comment on the hotel's policy of allowing some members of the staff to come to work with extremely long fingernails. We first noticed one of the receptionists sporting said appendages which I thought looked rather unprofessional at the check-in but we were aghast and a little disgusted when the waitress who served us at table in the restaurant was also wearing super long nails. Surely an environmental health hazard! It doesn't give a good impression at all.
