Stayed at this hotel annually for quite a few years and noticed a general decline in standards.
Room 416 desperately needs the furniture replaced and there was some mould around the bath.
The main problem was the noise from other guests. A full blown argument in room 415 between a man and his wife disturbed the whole of 4th floor at 0200 in the morning. She eventually threw
him out of the room. At breakfast on the Saturday morning two women came down in their nightie/pyjamas (no dressing gowns) and were allowed to stay and eat - not what I would expect of a four-star hotel. The hotel is in need of refurbishment, I don't think you could rate it as a
four-star any more.
On the plus side the breakfast was excellent as usual and the staff were helpful, efficient and polite. I'll probably stay there again, I just hope I get some sleep next time.

Booked the hotel in advance and got a really good price. The hotel was really clean and nice, fair size rooms with everything you would expect to find. Good choice of food and really nice as well.
Will certainly be staying again next year

My fiancée and I visited just the restaurant of this hotel. It was a rainy Sunday and it had been recommended. On the day we visited, they were serving either A La Carte or a buffet. We both chose the latter. One could have as much as one wanted and the quality of food was as we expected of a Holiday Inn - great.

Our waitress for the afternoon was memorably cheerful and enhanced our visit no end.

An excellent place to go just for a meal if nothing else.

Had to park else where as when I arrived both car parks at the hotel were full. My first room had broken aircon controls so asked for another room. The second room had a broken curtain rail!
The hotel seems very dated and a bit grubby. Rooms dated and when the aircon worked in is very noisey.

This hotel was clean and well organised. The room was adequate. The staff were very friendly and also helpful. I used their pool which was heated.
I had a room that was quiet.
The breakfasts were very good and i especially liked the lower fat method. The bacon etc was not full of oil. Well done on this.
To improve the experience the hotel could:
1. Offer cheaper wifi or free wifi.
2. The doors to the stairs could be fitted with door closers as they sometimes bang and can be heard in the room.
3. The single beds are very narrow.

Stayed here from the 2nd of August to the 5th of August 2013. I was in Bolton to take part in the Ironman UK and picked this hotel as it was central and low budget and very close to the IMUK finish line. The hotel has onsite parking which is free to guests. The staff was so helpful, on check in they asked if I was competing in IMUK and then gave us a welcome pack with useful contact numbers and details about the race. They also offered a secure room to store bikes. We were put on a floor that only seemed to have IMUK competitors staying on it, which was great as the corridors outside the rooms were quiet so going to bed early and sleeping was not an issue. The food menu is really good and they had a nice pasta dish on too. When I ordered room service I found this to be friendly and quick to the room and the food was always great. On the morning of the race breakfast was put on from 2:00AM, which was perfect. My only bad remark is the lack of Free wifi in the hotel, in this day and age I would expect this, you could pay for wifi but it was well over priced.

I’d like to thank the hotel and staff for all of their help and for being so organized. We will definitely stay here again if I’m in Bolton!!!

I stayed here for 1 night during a business trip. The rooms are a good size and up to date. The staff were very friendly and helpful, in particular Ann who was very kind and attentive in the restaurant in the evening.
I ate pretty late in the evening and subsequently pretty late in the morning so the restaurant was very quiet. The food in the evening was excellent. They had an offer on for a set menu - 1 course for £13.95 or two courses for £14.95. I chose the half chicken and then the Eton mess for dessert. This was very reasonable price wise, however the drinks are fairly expensive (£6.95 for a large glass of wine).
Breakfast was ok. Good range of items on offer but I felt the hot food had been sat there for some time in the hot plates and some of the juice jugs etc were empty but I did not get down to breakfast until 9.30am so i think they were starting to close everything down. They will cook additional items for you, I chose Poached eggs, which were cooked to perfection.
Beds are very comfy, with a variety of pillows on offer.
Cannot say a great deal more as I literally slept and ate there, over an 11 hour period but would definitely use it again when the need arises

I hadn't been here for about a year but still the great service, it's clean spacious and the staff are so helpful nothing is too much bother for them, I will be back no doubt, one little thing was that there is a new token operated thing in the car park the reception forgot to give me a token, no bi problem though

Myself and my husband stayed in this hotel for just one night and I can't praise the staff enough. They were so helpful and friendly. Paul in the bar was lovely and I unfortunately forgot to get the names of the girls on reception to mention them but all of them were so friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and had air conditioning which was great as the weather was very warm (late July!) Overall I would definitely recommend the hotel. If there was one negative it would be the breakfast, although it was o.k. the selection of fruit wasn't great but that's not a huge negative.

We were on a coach trip and based in Bolton, not the best position for a hotel, but ideal as a base,as we were going to Manchester canal for day 1, Chester day 2 and Southport day 3,hotel staff were very good and friendly, plenty off car parking space for those that require it.

Excellent service with staff that are very happy to help, I booked very last minute and Nina Williams in inhouse reservations went above and beyond to prepare and please a night for my partners birthday with wine, chocolates and a card in the room on arrival, and even offered to go out and get exactly what i wanted!! Alicia on reception very pleasant, speedy checkin and generally very helpful, we had a great offer in the Hardies restaurant we both ate for £30 with wine!!' Food was lovely and the staff Kelly and Amy were great and made us feel very welcome, the only downfall in leisure was jacuzzi not open but the staff at this hotel are more than enough to make anybody visit again we have had an excellent evening and made to feel welcome by all :-)

This was a great hotel. The restaurant was great, very comfortable bar, nice atmosphere. Our room was very comfortable, the tv was great I loved it. The bathroom was a bit I'll just say buggy as it was hard to flush the toilet but that frankly was a minor thing no points deducted who cares. The neighborhood had a huge outdoor mall that was fun to walk around. I do want to warn travelers coming into the Manchester airport that this hotel is far from the airport that it is absurd to take a cab their from the airport. Locals will probably laugh but I thought this was in Manchester. Very expensive mistake!

We had to wait almost the entire day to finally get the chance to check in on the day of our arrival, because they couldnt find our reservation. Was very frustrating because we were exhausted! The rooms were cosy, the swimming pool were nice and the location wasnt too bad.

This your usual holiday inn, the rooms are of good quality, the pool is good.

Breakfast was a little poor, having stayed a few times I have stayed in room 101 and it smelt of kitchen cooking

I'd stay again. Mainly for business, unless I was in Bolton for leisure !

Our family of 5 stayed one night at Boltons holiday inn. We arrive quite late but were warmly received by staff from the dining area who made the children feel welcome while we were checking in. We'd booked breakfast online with the room and stipulated that we'd be leaving early. The receptionist informed us however that there was no chef available until 0800 but assured us he would ensure an alternative meal would be arranged. Within 15 minutes of check in, he rang our room and told us that he'd everything sorted. The next morning, we were delighted to find he had organised a fabulous breakfast for travelling including a delicious hot meal consisting of a full English breakfast, continental breakfast, fruit, snacks and soft drinks. I know that Bolton is known for its friendliness, but that receptionist went far beyond the call of duty for us.
As for the room, it was clean, spacious and well prepared. It was quiet and the television was large enough to entertain the children for 10 minutes before bed time. The bathroom was, again, clean, spacious and had a great shower and bath.
We didn't use the amenities downstairs such as the dining area or the bar, but they looked very inviting and staffed by friendly personnel. Parking is at the side of the hotel and was adequate.
This hotel is definitely a must if you're visiting Bolton. Very friendly staff, excellent service and excellent facilities.

Just been to a wedding here and what a great venue. A large room with private bar and an excellent buffet. Drinks are a bit pricey but thats to be expected in a hotel. The wedding party had nothing but praise for the organisation and arrangements and everything went smoothly

We have stayed three times at this hotel and have never had any problems. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are helpful and friendly. We invited family members to join us in the restaurant for evening meals which were delicious. Saying its Bolton Centre may be a bit misleading as it is a bit of a hike uphill when walking back from the shopping centre with laden bags but only a couple of quid in a taxi for oldies like us! We have always enjoyed our stays here and will certainly be visiting again.

Stayed here a couple of nights and after being assigned a smoking room???? Who still has smoking rooms?? I asked to be changed to a non-smoking room; which the receptionist did without a fuss.

Staff at this hotel were great, clearly trying their best to give excellent service.

I had an executive room which was fine, clean and spacious; bed was far too soft for me but I appreciate that is a matter of taste. Lots of very hot water meant shower was wonderful though bathroom was starting to look a little dated

Breakfast was unfortunately the low point of my stay.
First morning everything was stone cold - not luke warm, not close to tepid - cold. Had no time to complain and ask for something hot to be prepared; so had toast and left

Following morning was marginally better, "hot" buffet achieved a warmish state - must say while I appreciate hotels of this size cannot cater for ala carte breakfasts - there really needs to be an improvement on how they keep food at a decent temperature.

Unfortunately I would be looking to stay elsewhere based on the breakfast on offer here - though can't praise the staff highly enough

Position is great for the centre of Bolton just a few minutes stroll down hill.
The staff where some of the friendliness I have ever come across.
The rooms are starting to look a bit tired the first night we had was in a room with a big stain on the carpet. The second and third night we was in a disabled room as my partner is disabled, we found it was not very disabled friendly for her needs. The shower was over the bath and although a low bath she still fell trying to get into it. The toilet was extra low so even with the handrails she could not get off it without help.
I know this is called an accessible room rather than a disabled room but what does it all mean.
The food in the restaurant was very good with the fish being really good.
We did not have breakfast here but I would assume it was ok
They have a pool and gym I believe but did not see either of them so no comment.
They have a lot of Weddings here so can here the music in your room if you retire early.
The tv in the room did not work very well but was quickly repaired, The shower on the other hand was not repaired at all though it was supposed to be.
Overall great location with great staff rooms good disabled room might not be what you want.
Would stay here again if they have a proper disabled room

Great reception let us check in early as we were going to a wedding very helpful. Room was clean and in order but the hot water was crazy hot. Breakfast the next day was ok but the service was poor to say the breakfast room wasn't half full but nobody told us how breakfast was served checked to see if we needed anything or to see if everything was ok. On the whole the hotel was ok but extra little touches in service would make it so much better.

I have spent the weekdays for much of the last 20 months at this hotel (about 400 nights!) so feel I am well positioned to comment on it! The first of the highlights are clearly the staff, you will not find a happier and helpful team anywhere.
The rooms are great, I have probably stayed in most of them, but I think 323 is one of the best! Many have been revamped recently, the new TVs make all the difference. For me, too much choice, even get pillow selection in room and far too many cushions! Bathrooms are great with bath and great shower (loads of water and hot). The rooms are clean and well looked after.
Breakfast selection is great (and there is even more that you can specially order, e.g. the kippers!). Make sure you start your toast early, I have seen 3 different types of toasters tested in the last 2 years and a lot of anaemic or burnt offerings, current one is good but very slow! I have eaten in the Bar and Restaurant and food is good with great variety, but there can be quite a wait in the restaurant I have found (note you can order from restaurant menu and eat it in the bar area if you prefer the more relaxed environment, or on your own). The bar is good but sometimes quite a delay in serving as staff are multitasking, but they will take your order and deliver it to your table)
The gym is good but a little compact. A nice sauna is also there and the pool looks great.
Use the main car park on the right of hotel entrance as underground car park is a nightmare of pilars with much proof that it is tougher than most cars! If you are staying, always take a look at the wedding venue it is simply stunning, for a while during refurbishments it was used for breakfasts and was lovely.
Guys, all I can say is great job and I will continue to stay with you. Wish all the hotels I use were up to your standard.
