Had a one night stay here. Location is a 5 minute walk into town where there are plenty of bars, check-in was easy although the 3pm check-in time could be of inconvience to some.
Bar is open to 2am and the breakfast was of good standard, overall the trip catered perfectly for my needs and had an enjoyable stay.

Stayed here last weekend for 2 nights (Saturday & Sunday). Rooms are decent, a little dated but enough room, double bed a was huge which is good. Wi-Fi connection was okay, good thing was you don't have to mess about logging in just click and connect. Breakfast was good, all the essentials for a full English and it's help yourself.

Only problem was the loud mouth cleaners. 9am chatting at the top of there voices as if they're having a tea party. Woke me up both mornings and once I'm up, I'm up. Don't want to hear it first thing.

You know with Holiday Inn that there will be a reasonable standard of accommodation. No doubt there is a rolling programme of refurbishment; some aspects of this venue are getting a little 'tired' -carpets in the corridors, door veneers and bath facings lifting at the bottom edge, unit surfaces, heating/aircon controls. But the room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Good water pressure in the shower, easily controlled shower heat. Very helpful friendly staff.

There's a really nice picture as you go in, of the wedding reception venue. It looked great. I wasn't getting married, so just opted for a relatively cheap room in this tired but perfectly adequate chain hotel. That would have been a 3-star review but for three things. The first was, I slept really, really well. I don't know if it was the crisp white sheets of the fact that it was very quiet but it was very satisfying. But the main reason I felt so happy was the terrific service I received, first from Diana on reception, who was absolutely brilliant, really friendly, efficient and went beyond the call of duty to make me feel welcome. And at breakfast, which was generous, I was served by Jayne was incredibly warm and welcoming. Both of these women are a real credit to the company and gave outstanding customer service. Both of them made me smile and feel very much at home. It wasn't 'customer service' it was proper human interaction from kind and genuine human beings. Thank you. Sure, the place could do with an update, especially the bathroom but it was clean, I slept well and left with a smile on my face, after a good breakfast. What more do you want?

Got to say bye to a hotel that I stayed in for over a year on work business, and for the first time in travelling in over 25 year, I actually regret leaving, the staff with always a warm welcome has become friends and will miss them all deeply, hoping to visit from time to time to say hello. A very special thanks to Frankie boy, trainee Vicki on reception, (who shouldn’t be a trainee ) Anne the points Specialist, Anne and Lillian on morning duties, run around Jade, who does far to much , brill at it all btw, boss lady Louise, excellent, but a special thanks to Nicole, who brightened my nights with her big smile and “good evening Mr Hutton” and no she didn’t frighten me into saying that, seriously if anyone deserves a promotion and raise in pay it’s Nicole, thank you and thanks to everyone I didn’t mention, am getting old you know , see all again sometime

Myself and my husband stayed here for one night. Excellent hotel and excellent value. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. It was looking a “little tired” though, but wasn’t a problem to us. The reception staff very friendly and helpful. We booked a breakfast for the following morning. The breakfast was brilliant. Lots of choices if you wanted. We both had a cooked breakfast which was delicious. The staff in the restaurant very polite and friendly. There was free parking and opposite the hotel was a casino which offered hotel guests one free drink each. We will return to this hotel definitely.

Pleasant enough but quite basic, and the hotel, especially the rooms, is looking tired. Water pressure in the room isn’t great either.
Had a couple of pints. The 1664 was delicious. Ordered room service - the omelette was brown. Didn’t look great but was a bit oblivious to its taste, however, due to the brew.
Staff, on the whole, were really friendly and the breakfast was great, despite it being a buffet

I stayed during the St Patrick’s Day weekend and it’s the first time I have stayed in a Holiday Inn and I was very impressed my room very spacious, facilities, cleanliness, service and comfort was all first class and full english breakfast was lovely which also included black pudding as an option too (for me personally that is VERY important in a breakfast 😋) Staff very helpful and polite. Definitely worth paying the extra to stay here rather than a basic B&B or hotel, would definitely recommend the Holiday Inn hotels. This one in Bolton was ideally located too right in the town centre which was perfect for my plans for the weekend. Loved my short stay at the Holiday Inn in Bolton.

Typical Holiday Inn I find. Tired and a bit soulless.

On the plus side my room was huge. On the downside that just meant there was more of its tiredness to witness. And at over £100 B&B not a complimentary bottle of water or biscuit in sight. The website suggests they have refurbished some rooms - 423 was not one of them. Still I had a comfortable undisturbed sleep.

Breakfast next morning was fairly poor for the money. I managed to park in their small underground car park. Make sure you register your car at check-in to avoid £20 charge for 24 hours.

Room was confatable and clean but i could not get on with the bed for some reason.
I was on the first floor and there were issues with noise - when someome comes in and out of their room it makes almighty smash, can get annoying

Special shout out to the staff though who were very pleasant and helpful especially the lady at breakfast :)

Would i stay again yes - but there aint much choice

Wifi was good and room service nice but not much choice

I arrived late at the hotel due to work commitments but had phoned as instructed to tell them of my late arrival. The car-park is small and I could not get a space arriving at 11.30 at night so had to park elsewhere and walk back. I then found out that they had given my double room to someone else and were going to put me in a twin - the only room left in the building. I politely told them that I had booked a double for a reason as I can't sleep well in a single bed and I had phoned specifically to let them know to hold that room for my delayed arrival. All other rooms gone, Luke, the receptionist promised to have me moved to an executive double first thing in the morning for the remaining 2 nights of my 3 night stay and offered to have a complimentary drink brought up to my room that evening. Both of which happened although the double I was moved to the next morning didn't have a great deal of "executive" about it, it was comfortable and clean.

The city centre location is both a bonus and a negative. It would be handy for business people but for holiday makers it is a city and therefore not surrounded by attractive scenery. The hotel and staff are both good but not quite excellent.

Came on Saturday night to the Olly meets Robbie tribute and from start to finish we had a brilliant night, the food was great and plenty of it, and all the staff even bar staff couldn't do enough for us. Well done too you all.

Stayed here to attend some training nearby, staff were friendly and helpful the room was clean and tidy, and the breakfast was plentiful. It is within easy walking distance of Bolton town centre and the Vaults for a variety of restaurants.

With my job I travel all over the UK, and tend to use Holiday Inn's wherever I can. The reason for this, is because the hotels are generally consistent in both levels of service, and accommodation quality.

The Holiday Inn Bolton is no exception to this. The staff are friendly and the rooms are typical of that you will find in all 3 star Holiday Inn's.

My room was quiet, warm and comfortable. The restaurant and menu both looked nice but I tend to eat out when away from home, so didn't sample the food myself. Having said that, for the 2 nights I stayed, the restaurant and bar were both really busy, so this has to count for something.

The price is always reasonable too. Worth staying if your in the area.

Positive: Excellent front desk staff - very attentive, accommodating and helpful. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Perfect location for downtown shops.

Negative: Carpet in room desperately needs replacing or at least, a good cleaning. Very limited dining. Expensive compared with cost of Crown Plaza Manchester airport where I stayed next night (New Years Eve). The Crown was $10 CDN more but was a superior hotel with several dining options and airport shuttle.

Would stay at Holiday Inn Bolton again due to limited options in Bolton but hope that it receives new carpets and better cleaning before I return.

My sister booked her joint 21st Birthday Party here with her boyfriend and the staff and the hotel were amazing! They assisted us in decorating the room, making tools available to us like blue tack and staplers. The food served at the Party was delicious. All was really good value for the money.

The accommodation is also nice, in need of a little bit of updating, mainly in the bathrooms, but clean and tidy. Although beds weren’t the comfiest we’ve slept on. Reception were really professional at resolving a problem we had. My mum was sick and was supposed to be looking after one of our children in her room, but wasn’t able to. I explained this to reception and they were very quick at allocating us a suite to accommodate our family and even managed to reserve a room for my Mum on the same floor so we could check on her. Breakfast in the morning was self service but delicious!

Would definitely stay again, but would be happy to see a bit more modernisation and comfier beds.
