Me and my partner stayed here 2 nights to visit friends. Hotel is ideally situated for Bolton town centre. We got around easy by walking or taxi. Hotel easy to find and free car park was a bonus. Paid £70 a night which I think is a little pricey when didn't include breakfast but looking around it seemed best value.

Staff were quite friendly (reception staff were a little ignorant and carried on talking whilst I waited to be seen and when I checked out the woman didn't speak at all to me). The cleaners always spoke and young woman at the bar through day on Saturday was really friendly and chatty. Bar open until 2am and drinks were reasonably priced (unlike the food).

Room was a good size and really comfortable bed. Had everything we needed there and it was clean. We didn't get any noise but in morning wall was so thin we could hear neighbours talking.

Had a good stay here and would return and recommend

Staff at the reception also in the restaurant are excellent and patience with Deaf Customer. Enjoyed it every minute.

Hotel is in desperate need of updating - rooms are very dated and the bathrooms are not particularly appealing.

We had are wedding here 22/10/17 absolutely amazing first class service the venue itself full of character very vintage throughout the day Libby and all the staff nothing was too much trouble. The venue was decorated by Lisa Jane celebrations and she's the best caring thoughtful and understands everything you want down to the smallest detail the room looked so classy this lady works so hard an would recommend her to everyone. Then of course credit also has to go to the head chef Keith the food was amazing and presentation very alacarte he deserves a medal the amount of complements was outstanding that goes for the buffet to this guy is first class and I'm not just saying this because it was our wedding but that meal was the best our guests are still talking about are wedding that means the world to myself and my husband anyone interested in booking a wedding I would highly recommend cloister holiday inn by far the best in Bolton thankyou Keith for a wonderful day and also Libby Emma and all the staff at the holiday inn love to you all Marisa and David anderson

Just had a weekend at the Holiday Inn, Bolton. Great location for the town and a free car park is always a bonus. The hotel and reception staff are very friendly and always greet you with a smile. Breakfast was also very good.

But there are things lacking.

The evening meals in the restaurant are overpriced and not the best quality. The rooms are lacking some TLC, looking a bit worn.

My biggest gripe is that on Saturday night we were kept awake until midnight because of the very loud music downstairs in the function room. Now, don't get me wrong, I know hotels need to maximise their income in a competitive market.

However, I recently stayed with a competitor who had the forethought to ask if I was with the celebration party when I checked in. When I said 'No', they offered me a room in a quiet part of the hotel away from the noise.

Why didn't the Holiday Inn, Bolton do this? Save me listening to that annoying boom boom boom you get when loud music is travelling through the walls. Remember, not all you customers are staying at your hotel for the events you have on downstairs.

The lady on reception was very apologetic when we left, and I hoped for a refund for my disturbed sleep, which would happen automatically with Premier Inn. But none offered.

Would I stay here again - only for convenience of location to town, but I would book knowing a good nights sleep is NOT guaranteed.

Hotel is pleasant but very 80s and my room showed it's age.

Staff displayed a good level of customer service throughout our stay. Breakfast was very good, and up to the usual high standard of Holiday Inn Express inclusive breakfasts.
Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed overnight for work purposes, very reasonably priced and staff were all polite and helpful. Centrally located for Bolton town centre and parking included. Room was a little bit dated but comfortable and a decent size. Shower was very hot and powerful. Evening meal and breakfast were both nice and also well-priced. Noisy people above me interrupted my sleep a few times which was annoying, but overall a good value and good quality hotel for an overnight stay.

Good location, parking fine and free, rooms very dated (I was upgraded to an exec room, dread to think what a normal one is like!)

Restaurant is massively overpriced but food okay. However, ordered the salmon and assumed it came with new potatoes as I wasn't asked what I wanted as a potato dish. It came out with chips.

Chips.

Salmon and chips?! Who on earth eats salmon and chips?

May return, but not for the salmon and chips!

At first, the idea of the wedding and the reception all taking place in the hotel seemed a little odd. That is until you turn up and notice that the hotel is attached to an old church.
We went up to our room first and settled in. It was a generous sized room and the en-suite more than adequate too. The view from the window was that of a building site but not much the hotel could do about that and it will not be like that forever either.
We then went to have a look at the venue where the wedding was due to take place the following day. I have to say I was very impressed too. They have kept all the character of the old church (but not the cold ) and it makes a most beautiful venue for the service and later the reception.
The food that evening was very nice but the prices of the drinks was quite high. That said, no more than one expects in such a hotel.
Breakfast next morning was a self service buffet and very nice it was too. You could order an omelette if preferred which we did on our second morning and this was served piping hot and was delicious.
As for the wedding, it would have been magical wherever it was held but the venue did add to it.
The area between the hotel and the church has been very well thought out and you do not have to go outside to get from one to the other.
Overall, a wonderful experience and a little hidden gem of a venue. Well done to the Holiday Inn as I have not seen such a venue before.

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting Bolton for an event.
Small carpark which is free for guests, check in quick and receptionist very friendly. 1st floor Room was clean and had all usual stuff ie hairdryer, toiletries etc.
I had seen on other reviews that the hotel does weddings and there was one during our Saturday stay. When we got back to hotel around 11:30pm it was in full swing, back in our room it was as if we were at the party the noise was so loud. Think the music got switched down around 12:30am. Not great if you need some sleep.
Breakfast is hectic but there is a good choice of food. Maybe better to have breakfast in the room which is an option.
Check out quick and again friendly receptionist.
Would use again but maybe ask for higher floor if wedding is going on

Room shabby (not chic), lumpy bed and smelly shower curtain.

On the plus side, food really good, room a decent size and best of all was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They couldn't have been better and made this rating a 3 rather than a 2.

Come on, Mr Holiday Inn, give those lovely staff of yours a nicer place to work!

Came for a wedding and wow what a beautiful venue. A converted church makes any event here a special one. Really striking. Food was good and bar service was good too (usually wait ages to be served at a wedding).

I stayed here for one night on a very rainy Sunday in September for work with 3 colleagues. The staff were all very friendly, but the room was pretty tired, and not super clean either - a few hairs remained in the bathroom, and there was no plughole in the sink. Breakfast was fine, but nothing to write home about. I would also have appreciated there being some decaff tea - not necessarily in the room, but at least behind the bar when we sat down for drinks.

I stayed in this place at the weekend. Lovely place and staff. Our room was lovely perfect for what we wanted extremely comfortable beds a big plus. Tea and toilet facilities where very limited in room when we first arrived but once we asked a member of staff to get us more it was no problem and done effectively.
I would like to also give the house keeping staff credit as I thought I left something behind me in the room when I got back home (Ireland) they returned my call and very helpful. I would definitely return and recommend this Inn to others.

Stayed here for two nights whilst in the area for a friend's wedding.

Overall, it did the job - rooms were clean, staff were friendly, all rooms had the basic amenities and there was a decent array of items on the breakfast buffet.

Two main negatives were 1) that the shower in our room was awful, took a long while to get going and the water was only lukewarm and 2) we are not local to bolton (we live 8 hours away) so asked the staff about some of the things we could do in the area but they were just as clueless as what we are. Apparently they commute in and aren't local either!

I will add though that they really went out of their way for my friend who is gluten free. Nothing was too much trouble and they endured she was given a wide range of food choices as well which was extremely helpful and a nice personalised touch.

I was sooooo amazed at how I was treated. I was at the hotel for my friends wedding and I have coeliac disease so I couldn't eat the normal breakfast. They went above and beyond for me. They brought me so much food and cooked it especially for me. I was stunned at how amazing they were. I contacted the hotel a week before so that I would be able to eat something but I was not expecting all that. Fantastic!!!!

The room we stayed in was really clean and you get 2 different types of pillows which is great for personal use. The staff were so friendly. Would definitely recommend staying here and I would stay here again.

Stayed here for one night on business. Good friendly welcome at reception and upgraded to an Executive Room. However, when I saw the bedroom it was a lower standard than a Premier Inn that I recently stayed in. Very bland and underwhelming and the bathroom could definitely do with an upgrade. The leisure facilities are quite small which was ok as this was explained on the hotel website. The restaurant and bar area are pleasant and comfortable, however the prices for both food and drink is overpriced for what you receive. The breakfast is £10 per room which is great value for a couple sharing but rather expensive for one - surely this can be addressed.
Overall a pleasant enough stay albeit underwhelming and overpriced.
On the plus side the beds are comfortable and the staff excellent.

This is the best in Bolton
I stay on a regular basis with work and have often been placed elsewhere, however nothing beats this hotel
The service right through from reception to room service is fantastic and the food is also cooked to perfection.
Can't fault it at all except for the road noise of which they have no control
Glad to be booked in here

Upon check in the girl who checked us in was the most helpful person i have dealt with in a hotel in many years, was a delight and could not have been any easier. ANy other staff member we interacted with was also very nice.

The location of this hotel is excellent right in town and only an easy 10 minute walk from the train station, the room was very nice and comfortable and free wifi to use in rooms so no complaints about this hotel at all. Would highly recommend and we will stay here again.

As parents of the bride I would just like to say that the staff couldn't do more for us if they tried. This venue was not the original chosen one, but due to circumstances beyond our control The Holiday Inn agreed for us to hold the reception in The Cloisters. The staff, especially the guy manning the bar for just 3 of us until 4.30 in the morning, deserves a special mention. He was great and nothing too much trouble. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Large clean room comfy bed, warm but did have aircon but didn't realise! Very comfortable beds and good pillows.
It did have a window which opened. Good shower - quite a tired looking bathroom but very clean and lovely soft towels and plenty of them. No biscuits with coffee and tea.
Nice public areas with bar and restaurant. Breakfast was good but chaotic - no plates glasses t bags , hot water .... Staff running around very stressed as understaffed but it was very nice and well cooked food.
Car park underneath was very convenient and free wifi although it didn't work in our room.
Nice staff on reception and in dining room just very stressed as rushed off their feet.
