The Village is big. Spa, big pool, sports bar, restaurant, Starbucks coffee shop and I admit not MY sort of hotel usually. There was a 21st/18th/wedding on when we booked in for one night but the rate was good (£59 per room with cot). The room was very clean, the bed comfortable, there was free Wi Fi, flat screen TV and the water was hot. It WAS noisy, a herd of elephants in the room above and a lot of slamming doors until the early hours and I wouldn't book a weekend again BUT the service was good and I was surprised by the restaurant. I am a healthy eater and fussy but there were several things on the menu I could have had and what I DID choose was plentiful, reasonable and well cooked. The wine WAS expensive but I think it is everywhere now (I live in Mallorca) and the SA Merlot was excellent. Service was good though a little on the slow side. The '"Head Waiter" (sorry I did not get his name) was very attentive and recommended a meal which my daughter thoroughly enjoyed, At breakfast he went through everything, took his time and you never felt rushed. A real asset to the hotel. I would stay again but during the week next time,

Located near to Bury centre being a 10-15 minute walk away. This is a substantial hotel complex with the usual bar, restaurant and lounge areas which are modern, clean and spacious. There is also a fitness health centre within the facilities including a large swimming pool. The hotel exterior at the front is quite an impressive sight as you approach up the steps and into the reception area which also has a Starbucks coffee shop. Reception staff were efficient and checking in was quick and easy. The reception staff were helpful when requesting information of surrounding areas such as shops and restaurants.
The room was spacious, modern and clean. The heating could be controlled within the room. mood lighting could be improved as when packing to go I had to move everything near to a light to see properly. Never ate in this hotel apart from breakfast which was a buffet. The fresh fruits and yogurt was excellent but the "Fry-up" was abit disappointing. Think this is because it is a buffet and the black pudding, eggs, etc end up sitting there for too long and end up overcooked i.e. hard yolks, crispy black pudding and items soaked in grease. However the staff in the restaurant were very good clearing table quickly leaving the place looking tidy.
Overall, this is good hotel and for the price is exceptional value and would go again if I was in the area.

My room was OK. clean and what I would have expected. Dinner was OK but it was thrown at us by staff who had no understanding of service. The bar was soulless and occupied by loud people ready for a night at clubs. Saturday confirmed that when you say the dismal state they were in.
Not for me.

Nothing too outstanding, the room was spacious enough (family room) bathroom was cleanish apart from the ladies hair in the bath, which did make my tummy turn a bit.
It was full to the rafters with what seemed to be "local" people, there was a wedding and we saw lots of tipsy ladies on a hen party, doing what tipsy ladies do on a hen "do"
Price wise it was very cheap £75 for two inc b&b, so we got what we expected for the price
The staff were pleasant
If you want a cheap hotel with access to bury or manchester, then this could be for you, if on the other hand your looking for luxury I'd look elsewhere.
cheap, cheerful, OK

Everything absolutely spot on. Great value. Comfy bed. black out blind. very clean facilities. Will stay again and at other village sites if possible. defintely better than premier inn. Too many a screaming little children in the leisure facilities was my only problem, so if you want a relaxing leisure club you will be disappointed.

We attended a wedding in this hotel and paid for a room that was not over the 'club' area. We were happy to get accommodation where the wedding reception was and booked in for two nights. To be honest the first night was a Friday and we were very tired, there was a lot of people out the front at 1am and the girls were screaming. We had a nice breakfast, a good variety, but were surrounded by hen's, stag and football supporters who all looked hungover. The rooms were very modern, comfy beds, a few cobwebs in the window blinds. The bath towels were not clean, previous peoples makeup and fake tan on two. Maybe an upgrade of towels would be good. The wedding was really good, thank goodness the reception area was at the back of the hotel. However, we had to share toilets with the pub. Not good.
I would recommend this hotel for young people, hens, stags, etc. Not for families or people looking a quiet getaway. Maybe it attracts these groups due to the hotel prices and nightclub. We didnt use the pool/gym.

After two and half hours journey from York as road work and accident on the M62 finally arrived, the first thing we saw "wow" from the outside, and once we got in, it was brilliant and we didnt know there were swimming pool/spa, if we knew, we would have brought swimming suit!!,then we had the meal in the evening but it was late and it was a good value. We would go again. The room was nice and we got a good view to the river so it feel more relaxed, the reason why we booked this is nearer to the party at Rambottom.

A group of 10 of us stayed at the Village on 27th Oct and attended a murder mystery night. We had such a great time, the party night was excellent and the food was good! We were quite disheartened to have to walk down the corridor with all the new bedrooms to get to the old bedrooms, but the rooms were still clean and had everything you needed.
Breakfast the next morning was really busy!! Get down early if you don't want to queue for the toast machine and hot food buffet.
I also had a treatment in Healthworks which was really relaxing, would recommend if you have any spare time.

we have stayed here many times and have never had anything bad to say , the rooms are large and the beds very comfordable ,the staff are very friendly and helpful ,the swimming pool is a good size and i have enjoyed the sauna and steam room also .
breakfast is the normal buffet standard nice and relaxing ,restaurant food is good value for money and they do different offers on each night in bar food which is good value we had the 5 course carvery on sunday for £10 which was lovely but book this early as its very busy a really good choice of everything .
the only thing this w/end was the singer in the bar was a little bit loud but we did say to reception and it was turned down a bit but apart from that we are very happy to stay here again and would reccomend it to anyone .

Currently staying at hotel. I have stayed in some lovely hotels over the years and this place would be right up there with the best.

The staff are all friendly nothing is any trouble at all. Location wise it's great the rooms are comfortable and clean perhaps a little dark air some. Overall a lovely place to stay I will be booking to stay here again in November when I am back in this area.

The hotel doesn't look anything special from the outside.

However, rooms are comfy and the pool and gym facilities are very good. The pool and gym gets used by a lot of non residential folks so can get busy.

Very fast free wifi is z ail able throughout the hotel.

Food in the restaurant is quite expensive but no more expensive than any other hotel so it is comparable.

I'd stay again

My wife and I celebrated our silver wedding anniversary at this hotel.
The service and the staff were excellent and had a "Nothing is too much trouble to do attitude" towards all the guests. The buffet was unbelievable for the quailty and quantity provided, guests who attended are still contacting me praising the venue and the food.
Due to the high standard of service provided by the staff and high standard of the hotel I have no hesitation in recommending it as a top class venue for any function.

My partner and i spent a night here recently after winning a free nights stay & meal at a recent event in a raffle.

We were lucky enough to go when it was warm and sunny so we spent time sun bathing in the outdoor area near the indoor pool, using the pool & jacuzzi etc and then having a very nice meal in the Verve restaurant which has good offers on.

The breakies were very good too and the room was of good quaility also apart from a dodgy loo.

We live nearby so probably won't return (unless we won another night of course), but anyone coming to Bury who don't mind a busy (and at times very loud) hotel, then is the place for them as it's so accessible also.

Common areas of the hotel very modern, our room very chintzy and basic but most importantly it was spotless, decor definitely need an update, bathroom adequate, sleep quality good, good location for transport networks, would stay here again for if the price was right.

Lots of things to do, pools spa's etc so that's good. The rooms are well kept and comfy. Breakfast, plenty of choice and as much as you want from a buffet service. Staff friendly and helpful with free internet and morning paper in reception.
The walls in the rooms, you can hear noise in the next room. Noise from the corridor. There is a large gym and pool so you do get a lot of people using the hotel who are not residents.
Good to see a couple having an argument on the carpark first thing of the morning.
I think it tries to impress with quality but just quite misses.
Ok hotel but could do better,

Booked for a family break over August Bank Holiday Weekend, not first choice but at last minute was all available,
All I can say is much better than expected, we arrived a little early and room not ready , however, staff were welcoming, polite and more than happy to come and find us once room was ready.
Stayed in family room, which consisted of a Queens size bed and pull down double sofa bed, little tip, just sleep on the mattress of the pull down bed much more comfortable without the frame,
Spa facilities are great, pool and loungers are lovely, fantastic sitting on the loungers in the conservatory watching the rain and black clouds rumble over ( well it is August Bank Holiday)..
Breakfast 1st class too, buffet style with plenty of choice, there are busy timeas but thats to be expected.
Bury Market and the Town Centre are 20 minutes walk away, pleasanty surprised at the Town Centre lots of lovely shops, although the Market is about 20 years behind the times which is cute but unless you want a black pudding or a acrylic cardigan not much else going on...

Stayed here two nights Saturday & Sunday nights over August bank holiday, stayed here as we went to old Trafford for the football. Hotel is well situated for the metro link which was a short & cheap ( under £4) taxi ride away. £9 for two adult returns to old Trafford on metro link. Didn't check into hotel until approx 8pm, a party was in full flow, very very very noisy. There was a issue with the room, twice, booked a double and got a twin, complained then gotta double which hadn't been cleaned or made up since last person stayed, complained & got "upgraded", an upgrade relates to a sofa in your room! Have never stayed in such a noisy Village hotel, noise from party was really loud and went on & on & on. Our room was at front of hotel, not recommend, again as lots of people congregated outside it was very noisy. If I was looking for a quiet nice weekend away I wouldn't stay here. It did the job as a base for the football, Trafford centre very close to.

My partner and I visited this hotel as past of a spa day package. This included full use of the gym, gym classes, pool and sauna/steam room. A "healthy" lunch and a 40 minute spa treatment were also included.
The gym was big, lots of cardio equipment and a "Womens only" gym was also available. The pool area was basic and clean, the steam room was nice but the sauna barely felt warm.
The blonde lady at the Spa area was great! Very, very helpful and she took the time to show us around which we really appreciated.
We were given a healthy "light lunch" menu to pick from for our package meal. I had the superfood salad t start, which was obviously quite bland and my partner had the mackeral salad, which he enjoyed.
My partner and I really did not enjoy our mains though. I had the tuna steak which was tasteless and although a light lunch, it really did not fill me up at all. My partner ordered the sea bass, which he said was ok, but the fennel salad on the other hand was disgusting. Too much fennel had been used to the point it was inedible and smelt like he had just ordered a 10 man round of sambucca! He did tell the waiter that he had not enjoyed the food, but our complaint was simply met with a shrug of shoulders.
The massages we had booked were great! Really relaxing and it was the best part of the day.
For the price, the package is great I just wish that the lunch menu was a bit more varied.

Stayed just one night in August. Hotel is easy to locate just off the motorway and about 1 mile from the centre of Bury. The town centre is easily walkable or a number of buses stop nearby, for a decent real ale in town try the Automatic or Trackside (at East Lancs Railway Station.)
The hotel itself is a little noisy and the rooms a little dark for my liking, my bathroom also smelt of chlorine from the leisure centre below I suspect. There's a Starbucks by reception and a restaurant + bar, buffet breakfast was good with freindly staff. Would I stay again and recomend.... for £69 B&B yes to both!

We booked a two night stay inc buffet breakfast and a 3 course dinner each night for £177 for both of us, which includes use of pool, gym etc - very good dea!. Chose Bury as wanted to be near Manchester but far enough away to chill out. Some reviews say the hotel is too near the motorway, is noisy and poorly decorated - but this was not my experience at all. The hotel is set back from the motorway (I didnt find this at all noisy, from the outdor seating area or room!), hotel is really handy to drive to, is on a small business park and has a local pub near to it. The train station and metro link is only a 15 min walk away, 5 min car ride - Metro only took 15 mins to centre of Manchester and cost £5 return for two people.

The hotel is decorated as most other De Vere's, its personal taste but I find the darker colours very modern and tasteful. Check in is after 3pm, we arrived at 1 and asked if we could check in early and have a quieter room ie not over the bar area. We were offered a room straight away and were very happy with our room. It was spacious, at the front of the hotel (136), decorated well with everything you could need, plus we had a sofa bed. The only thing which would make the room more comfortable is some air con, but I found if leave windows wide open while not in room then is nice and airy when return. I do prefer individual soaps and shower gels in bathroms rathr then a dispenser, but this is again is only a personal taste. As we booked a standard room, I asked to see the "Superior" room to compare - it was right at the back of the hotel through lots of corridors - this section had not been updated to De Vere corporate colours and was the same size room but with 90's yellow walls, not my taste at all - did have a nice view of a river though. Im glad we didnt book this room.

We used the gym which was well equipped and spacious, the pool was a good size and had two lanes for swimmers sectioned off and a kids pool. The jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were very full so didnt get to try them. The female changing rooms were spacious, with hairdryers and a spinner for wet swimmers. You get a towel from spa reception.

The bar area was cosy and served light meals. Yes drinks are rather pricey but so are all hotels! You can take your own bottle(s) with you and staff are happy to provide ice buckets, glasses etc for your room.

The 3 course evening meal was served in the verve, which is a beautiful restaurant. We booked on both nights. We were given two menu's to choose from and the choice was fantastic, the food was of exellent quality and we really enjoyed picking six different foods each to try both nights.

We had a great sleep, comfy bed and pillows - no noise what so ever! The bathroom is compact but has everything you need in it.

Loved the breakfast, I much prefer buffet styles anyway, so can pick what you actually want rather then end up with a plate of certain foods you dont like. I found the food plentiful, hot with a good selection and choice. Starbucks is a good option too.

In summary, all staff were very professional and friendly, the facilities were excellent, we liked the location and very much enjoyed our stay!
