Can't fault it. Attentive, caring, friendly staff. Extensive menu - took me ages to choose. Every plate coming to surrounding tables looked delicious. Will be back soon!

Visited here after a theatre show with friends. We were late for our booking as show over ran but the staff were charming and very accommodating. Excellent service, good quality food and fab atmosphere. We will definitely use again and hopefully have chance for a more leisurely evening here

Early evening meal in this relaxed Italian restaurant.
We were not disappointed-extremely good value and the fish of the day was delicious

Excellent food and service, this place has become somewhat of a local.
An extensive menu can sometimes become a hindrance or over complicate things, but everything we ordered ( both historically and on Saturday night) was very tasty and well presented.Frustratingly this place is becoming more and more popular and i fear booking well in advance may become the norm.

Went on the spur of the moment for an early supper. Arrived just before 6pm and there was only one other table taken By 6.15pm restaurant was 3/4 full-good sign.
Plenty of choices on the menu. I opted for crab starter, a little too much mustard in the sauce, but otherwise very tasty. My husband had spicy steak bruschetta, which he loved. Main courses we chose were chicken escalope with spaghetti and veal escalope with veg. Couldn't clear our plates as there was just too much. Will visit again soon

Excellent Italian food as a pre-theatre meal. Good set menus albeit 'regionally muddled' in terms of dishes but excellent choice and very good value.
Scallop starter tasty and Fillet Rossini superb with perfectly cooked generous piece of fillet!

Had walked passed a couple of times and thought looks nice must try then this Monday nothing planned for dinner at home so myself and the wife decided to try a meal here. Walked in and was met by a very polite waiter who showed us to our table and handed us our menus. Almost to much choice even on the fixed priced menu as there was three diferent menus each at a different price for two courses. I asked for the wine list which was again very extensive. We ordered our meals, the starters turned up quickly and where lovely of good sizes and very tasty. Once finished the mains again turned up in good time and again was of good size and full of wonderful flavours. The whole evening was lovely at no time were we rushed all the staff were freindly and polite. My only question was why had we left it so long to visit . Needless to say we will be going back.

Visited here with colleagues on a Thursday evening, the restaurant was fairly busy but they seated 8 of us without hassle and service was good. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was superb. There was a choice of 3 different set menus and a main menu with plenty of choice and budget to suit everyone. The Fillet steak was beautifully cooked and the vegetables fresh. Despite the number of guests all out food came out piping hot and in a timely fashion. Well worth a visit

Have been to this restaurant a few times since it opened, including with a party of 12 before Chistmas and a Valentines Day meal. Each time have enjoyed excellent meal with very good helpful service. We used to occasionally visit the previous Italian restaurant at that location which was ok, but the complete refurbishment and very good food is a big plus. Also for diners needing to eat before attending the Civic theatre the service is prompt without feeling too rushed. Thoroughly recommend a visit

Had an hour to kill between parents evening meetings so we thought to give Il-palazzo a go. The staff were very accommodating and food was out speedily. We went for Pizzas which were good, though a little cheesy for our tastes. Not the cheapest but would visit again. Some of the non-pizza options we saw people eating looked great. Nice to any independent restaurant in Chelmsford- more power to their elbow!!

Italian or Italian/English Fusion? I found the menu a little confusing. Pollo Milanese served with carrots and potatoes. I've had this in Milan as well as many Italian restaurants in Britain and never found it served like this. Am I a stick in the mud or is this the future? Started with the sardines and like my companions found the salad dressing to be superb. For mains I went for the lasagne, just as i like it. We were a group having a pre concert supper and the venue was great for this.

Was very much looking foward to visiting 'll.palazzo in Chelmsford as i have eaten in both the westcliff and southchurch restaurants. The new restaurant was a delight .the decor was fresh and very welcoming. Both the service and food was 1st class.I made a small change to my order and this was no trouble for them to do.
We look foward to returning this time for an evening meal and good wines.

We called in here towards the end of the lunch service, yet we were made to feel so welcome. The service was great, food was delicious and ambience was lovely. There is plenty of choice on the menu, as well as a good drinks list. Prices are very reasonable.
This place was a complete revelation and we would be very happy to return. I have no hesitation in recommending this Italian restaurant.

Looking for somewhere different for a Valentine Lunch and chose II Palazzo. We certainly were not disappointed. We received a very welcoming greeting and this service continued throughout our visit by all the staff. The restaurant was spotlessly clean. The food we had there was delicious with plenty of choice, As it was lunchtime there weren't many customers there so could not judge the atmosphere but would imagine eating there in the evening the atmosphere would be very good. We shall certainly visit again in the evening.

6 of us booked for dinner mid week, it was very good. Service and food were lovely. Waiter had time to joke with us and the food came out together, was well presented and tasty.
Nice Italian wines on offer not too expensive. Was busy in the early evening due, I expect to the proximity to the Civic theatre and train station.
Nice friendly staff, very welcoming. Will be back.

We'd accidentally booked to eat at their South-end branch but although they were fully booked here even as early as 6.30pm in the evening they managed to squeeze us in. We weren't disappointed. The atmosphere was lively. The pizza and pasta were perfectly cooked and the portions very generous. Very friendly and attentive service from the Italian waiters. We would love to eat here again when next in Chelmsford.

Me and my girlfriend had a lovely meal at Il Palazzo. Being new to the area I'm on the path to try out as many of Chelmsford's restaurants & bars as I can. I've made a cracking start!
A pleasant & nicely presented restaurant near the station where the staff were very welcoming & friendly. We shared a very cheesy (we like!) garlic bread to kick us off before I had my starter & main from the specials board, a Mediterranean grilled veg & goats cheese and a saffron tagliatelle with monkfish & prawn (Both pictured). Both were really, really tasty and plentiful. I actually couldn't finish my main which is a bit of a big deal as the boy can eat!
My girlfriend has mozzarella fritters (pic) & vegi cannelloni which she really enjoyed as well.We were well looked after throughout the meal and had a nice bottle of white to wash it all down.
The bill came to £58 which I thought was excellent value for 4 courses, bread & wine.I would definitely recommend this restaurant and, with it being very close to home, will definitely be returning.
Top marks.

We use Palazzo when we visit the Palace Theatre in Southend- This is what an Italian Restaurant should be- Excellent food, good value and fantastic service. The main issue is deciding from the Menu.
They do pre-theatre menu so if you are going to the Civic I highly recommend. The baked scallops were very tasty and the Pollo Milanese / Risotto con polo both very good. Excellent value / service.
