clean room, friendly staff, maybe a few things could be better but very nice place to stay, parking is difficult so be prepared to walk.

I will not be pointing out that the hotel needs to be a bit more modern, because it is not and it is pointless. Our room was freshly painted, but carpet was old and dusty, maintained clean as much as possible. Room decent size, we asked for a change, because we were put in the back room with depressing view. The staff was amazing and they changed the room for us. There is always fresh towels and room cleaned if you wish, daily. The housekeeping lady is very good, does her job amazingly well. She is considerate as well. There is not much activities going on in the bar or restaurant now due to the remaining of covid rules. Room needs a fan on hot summer days. It can be easily done. There is also a room for a small fridge, which would be amazing to store water and other drinks. There is a good pressure shower, but taps in the wash basin need maintenance ( room 111). Overall, our stay was pleasant, we did not stay much in the hotel, only at night. Location is great- just opposite the Pier. I would come back within the same price range ( max £60 per night).

We stayed for a 3 night midweek break last minute decision but luckily enough we got a room. Room was large, well furnished and neat & clean. A large ensuite included as well as tea & coffee making facilities. The hotel is in a perfect location. Directly opposite the war memorial & pier. Literally 1 min walk! You have a large selection of restaurants, bar and a thriving town all within a few mins walk as well. All cuisines are catered for from all over the world. If you stayed for a week you could virtually dine in a different country every night. South downs & the seven sisters are a 10min drive, loads of retail parks & supermarkets within a short drive too. Eastbourne seems to be a thriving town, more so than a lot of seaside resorts. Overall a very enjoyable stay. Our only gripe were fairly noisy upstairs neighbours who were up at 6am every morning and the bed was too soft for our tastes but this is just our own preference and bed was in good condition.

My family stayed at the Afton on the 28th September.for one night. We booked 2 rooms months before our stay for £114. The Hotel is opposite the pier and just off the sea front. When we arrived we were offered a parking permit for our stay for just £1 which allows you to park in the street on designated bays. We managed to park on the sea front near the hotel. The staff are very polite and helpful The rooms were comfortable with plenty of storage space. The breakfast in the morning cost £7 and is well worth it, after a good all English I asked for toast and it was serves in minutes. I would definitely stay here again.

We had a very nice room with seaview. Just a very short walk to the Pier. The staff was very friendly. If you are coming by car, you can by a parking ticket ( 1 £ a day) and you can park near the hotel. Nice pubs are nearby.

This hotel overall is not a bad choice for a short break in Eastbourne.
On a positive note it is perfectly located opposite the pier ,adjacent to the sea front.

It also has its own bar with plenty of seating space.

The room was quite small but clean and comfortable.

However, as others have mentioned , the walls are paper thin.

You can hear everything going on in neighbouring rooms , every word of phone conversations.

The other issue is the water pressure, basically there is hardly any.
The water from the sink is literally a trickle from the hot tap and the shower only a little better.

This hotel gives good value for money stayed in eastbourne roughly the same time in 2018 at a seafront hotel the price difference enormous the afton £500 for a seaview room for 7 days as against over £700 for the so called 3 star hotel. No comparison ell done Afton you may need a bit of a face lift but your service superb. We look forward to next year.

The Afton is a stones throw from the pier ( which in its self is excellent ) ,our room was facing the pier and the sea , it had a comfortable bed, en-suite shower room and a decent size t.v. Breakfast was faultless, i only had toast but my Wife had scrambled egg on toast which she said was lovely, the Full English Breakfasts that came out looked very appetising and the service very good. Highly recommend this esablishment.

Stayed for 1 night with my 15 year old daughters. Although only a 2 star hotel I thought it was perfectly fine for a night or 2. Our room was a good size family room, clean, comfortable beds and bathroom fine for what we needed. All I would say is if you want peace and quiet its probably not for you. Not hotels fault but our room was facing the busy street, even with windows shut it was noisy through the night. Who knew seagulls were up all night?! Only other issue is parking. Again not hotels fault but just giving a heads up. They give you a £1 parking permit for day, overnight till 11am, very good BUT Eastbourne is very busy in August and you have to find a space. We drove for over half an hour trying to find one, only then I managed to squeeze into a small space. Hopefully you'll have better luck!

Booked with Dunwoods Coaches. Only one problem was regulating heat of shower which management helped with. Otherwise lovely and clean, good food, pleasant staff who were kind and very helpful to me. Would definitely recommend, I’m looking to book again.

We stayed there for four nights with the dog and it was ideal for a short break. Room absolutely spotless, large room with space for dog bed, reception extremely helpful, location perfect. Only blot was that housekeeping didn't service the room on the Saturday. But reception so helpful that it wasn't a problem and whole issue dealt with very well. I'd definitely return

This hotel is ideally situated opposite the pier and only a stone's throw from the shops and restaurants, and is probably cheaper than some of the surrounding larger hotels. We had booked for a Thursday night after visiting family in Kent, before a planned 3-day visit to Hastings. The room was fairly small but ok, no frills. There was a coach party in the hotel, which probably was the reason for the entertainment that was arranged that evening. Anyway, because of being let down by our Hastings hotel facilities, we returned for 2 more nights, just a little surprised at the big rise in price for the Saturday night when they had a private party (wedding?)

Brilliant Staff!
Clean and Comfortable.
The only complaint we can make is that our neighbours in room 211 made a constant racket and finally at 4ish this morning husband went to the reception area, where he rang the emergency number provided of which there was no reply. A bit worrying, really. In the end my husband knocked on our noisy neighbours door and asked them to turn their rather loud radio down!
Other than that we will definitely return!
