We have just returned from a 5 day stay at the Burlington hotel. It was one of the best holidays we have had. The room we had (although it was at the back of the hotel) was freshly decorated, clean and comfortable. The restaurant was very pleasant and the food very enjoyable, always hot and plenty of choice. Our waitress was Maggie, she was very helpful and could'nt do enough for us. The entertainment was also very good. We shall certainly return.

Good hotel, on main street across from Pier. Older Hotel, and was once a beauty!. Could do with a little update, but overall very comfortable. Went there with Sherrings Holidays. Mostly older couples there. Food was very good!

The hotel is in a very good position overlooking the sea and right by the pier. The public rooms are of a good standard and we found the meals and the attention from the staff were excellent. As we booked at the last minute there were no upgraded rooms available. Our standard room was comfortable enough but fairly dated and tired, but considering the very reasonable price we paid we felt very satisfied. The lifts are pretty small so if you have mobility difficulties it might be best to ask for a low floor. We would definitely visit again.

Travelling by coach with WA Shearings, this hotels ambiance and the excellent professionaliasm of the Hotels reception staff is top class. The rooms are spacious and clean and the House Keeping is reliable. The Entertainment is good although the resident host seems to have is regular and favourites. He doesnot move too far from the stage as other acts did in taking their performance to the guests. Excellent arrangements for those that are diabetics, and need refrigeration for their medicines. The worst of the Hotel is the Dinning Room. we did not get breakfast one morning because a member of staff failed to show for work and although a profound apology was given by the General Manager and the dinning Manager , the waiter was rude and obstructive because we dare complain of his poor service and attitude. Regretfully WA Shearings and the Hotel General manager condone this as they think this guy is the BEES KNEES. No offer of any compensation from the company or the Hotel a letter of apology that they regret this type of service is all you get. Good Hotel, but beware of the poor service in the Dinning Room

Well positioned Hotel overlooking the sea.A large old Hotel that has been renovated to a good standard for the rating,
We had a large side room with a view of the sea.Clean and comfortable beds.
Nice bathroom with constant hot water,
Towel rail could have been positioned better as it was over the toilet so a need to keep the toilet lid down. also TV not really in a good position in the room with a long cable which could be dangerous. Food very good.

Have just returned from our third visit to the Burlington and once again found it good value for money. We stayed in a basic room which had recently been refurbished, with a comforable bed and en-suite. We didn't have the best of views but knew we had only booked a basic room. The staff were excellent and very helpful at all times. The restaurant staff were equally efficicent and the choice of menu good. The entertainment was very good especially Ray Campbell who kept everyone laughing with his jokes and anecdotes, and his skill on the keyboard was amazing. We enjoyed him last year so it was good to see him again. We can only say well done the Burlington - we hope to come back again.

I took my mother to the Burlington Hotel on a Shearings four day break for Mothers Day and her Birthday, and we had a lovely time. It is on the sea front, close to the pier and a short walk to the shopping centre and bus stops. I booked two singles, they were very nice rooms, refurbished and as they were on the corner they had sea views. Check in was quick and efficient with a porter taking you luggage to your room. The food was very good, a choice of menu and ample servings for breakfast and dinner, if you wanted more it was available. Our waiter, Dan, was very helpful and polite, he worked very hard to serve us all as the dining room was very busy, thank you Dan! The reception staff were very helpful, even getting the maintenance man to re-tune my mothers T.V. on Sunday morning, what service! I would definitely stay there again, excellent value.

My wife and I have just spent a very enjoyable weekend At the Burlington in Eastbourne. The hotel is very well situated on the sea front opposite the pier. It is a very easy walk to the shops and the buses to Brighton go from the pier. The room we had was warm, clean and very comfortable and we both slept very well. There was a good choice of food and we certainly had enough. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and were always cheerful. There is plenty of room to relax in the hotel and the entertainment was good. We would certainly go back to this hotel again. Excellent value for money.

Just returned from a 3 night weekend break with my wife at the Burlington Hotel Eastbourne. Very good Shearings coach with a direct pick up from Croydon which made the journey so much beter than having to go via the London Gateway interchange. The Reception staff were very efficient on our arrival and we were soon in our splendid seaview room on the 4th floor. The room had clearly been refurbished with good decor and quality beds and a good bathroom. Also a flat screen TV. Sash windows (one with duck tape around it) could have received more attention in the makeover. However, this did not detract from the general comfort of this spacious room.

The restaurant was well laid out and certainly well organised. The waiting staff were highly efficient and friendly and the quality and variety of food was very good when the cost of the vacation is taken into account.

Mark the entertainments manager works so hard to ensure the evenings entertainment is seamless. His personality shines through and he certainly ensures all guests have a great time. He is certainly an asset to this Hotel and moreover Shearings.

We had a splendid break at the Burlington Hotel which is ideally located on the seafront and we would have no hesitation in returning there in the future.

I have just returned from a five day Shearings Break at the Burlington Eastbourne. I feel relaxed and rested.
Our driver Tony made the journey most interesting and enjoyable he knew the Eastbourne area well. The hotel staff were good and the food good for the cost of the holiday.
The entertainment was of a very high standard and we certainly laughed along with Mark the entertainments manager.
Our coach journey was handled well by Shearing despite horrendous traffic and our time of transfer was much shorter than in the past.

Stayed for 3 nights Friday to Monday. This hotel is in a wonderful position with lovely sea views and yet near to good shops. My room was big clean and airy. The bathroom was large but dated. plenty of hot water and white fluffy towels. However the big plus points for me were the trips out. our driver TONY was brilliant with his expert knowledge of the area . Nothing was to much trouble and a safe confident driver. Factor in the free drinks on sat night an whats not to like?

It is not exactly a 5 star hotel so dont expect a 5 star hotel. The staff were very good at all times and always supplied what we needed. The food was excellent, always served quick and was always hot. I can not see why people are complaining about this hotel.

Evening entertainment was varied and funny. Mark the entertainment manager was first class and made us laugh all week. Well done.

we stayed here a week ago Monday to Friday with Shearings coach holidays ,we had a lovely time as the facilities were good ,lovely entertainment ,and staff were very friendly and helpful ,food could have been better but you get what you pay for and the price of the holiday was really cheap £144 for bed breakfast and evening meal plus two trips out the only complaint was the TV kept going off but got told this was due to the change in the weather and the bedrooms could do with updateing but it was clean and we had clean towels and tea and coffee supplied every day ,if ever we are in Eastbourne again would not hesitate to stay at this hotel

Not the best hotel we have stayed in, but for the money we paid it was ok. The position is fantastic, right on the sea front opposite the pier within easy walk of the town. The hotel itself is looking tired. The public areas look like they have been decorated but our room was badly in need of some tlc! The carpet was threadbare, wall paper peeling and paint work chipped, but it was clean. No little extras though with only a small bar of soap given. The food was fair and the service good but again basic, for instance no cream with cheesecake. The staff were excellent though. Always cheerful and willing to help. All in all we had a good time and if the price is right there is no reason not to stay here.

We stayed for four nights this week. The hotel was excellent, although we had paid for an upgraded room. Our only cause for complaint was the food quality, especially at dinner. The menu choices look good but the actuality is rather different. Own label ready meals come to mind. However overall the rooms were pleasant, the hotel is in a premier position and the staff were excellent. If you do stay here perhaps be prepared to eat out.

Room was comfy, plenty of tea and coffee in the room, also nice and warm. Also very clean. Television a bit outdated. We were on the 3rd floor, hot water was not a problem, but the cold was a mere trickle. Food was pretty good, but the service in the dining room quite slow, and waitress not very friendly. From what we were told and saw Shearings Hols got better treatment, we were the poor relations being with National. The hotel is situated in a very convenient spot for shopping etc.

Spent a Great weekend with Shearings, lovely Hotel on sea front opposite the pier, although the Hotel has has a few steps there is a entrance for disabled adjacent. The staff were friendly and helpful, room was clean and very comfy (lovely bed) good sized wardrobe, and tea making facilities replenished daily. Food was very tasty and hot ,varied menu, the waitress was more than helpful.Entertainment was first rate,we really loved Mark who called the Bingo very funny, had us all in tears.Sunday we got the bus from the pier to Brighton (with our bus pass) we always get value for money with Shearings.

Stayed here 21st February-24th February 2014 as a party of five, we always have a good time when we go away together. I don't know how they do it for the money, paid £104 including a £15 single room supplement, pleasant staff, good food and accomodation. Ryan in the restaurant, was incredibly helpful, nothing too much trouble to get for you and we made requests for plain food with no sauces etc. This is my fourth visit to this hotel and we always look forward to Mark's bingo and entertainment, this year we had a singer called Billy Miller on Saturday evening who was excellent. If you want five star luxury, then this probably isn't for you, but if you want good value for money, plus an older age group of guests, go book.

We stayed for four nights as part of a Shearings Holidays package. On arrival, it was clear that parts of the hotel were being refurbished but this did not interfere with any facilities or their general use of the hotel; in fact, the decorators were only present at times when the areas were only lightly used.

Our bedroom appeared to have been recently redecorated with new bathroom furniture. All was clean and tidy. The bed was very comfortable and there were two armchairs and a small table. As the weather was so poor, we stayed in the room more than we had planned but it was easy to watch TV and relax.

Various grades of room attract supplements and room 417 was a standard room with a sea view. On the 4th floor there were about 18 rooms at the front with rather more to the side and rear. As it was situated on the fourth floor, this was the cause of our only concern because there are two lifts but of limited size (one had comfortable room for 4, while the other could take 2) and we occasionally used the stairs - there were 81 - to get to and from the room to avoid waits.

Times for dining were limited but the service was excellent and the food more than acceptable. Dinner had three choices of starter, main course and dessert. Various types of breakfast were available, albeit with supplementary prices for some items.

A comfortable and spacious hotel which is located across the road from the pier, beach and gardens; while only 5 minutes walk from the main shopping centre. Local buses plus those to Brighton and Bexhill/Hastings stop close by.

We travelled by Shearings coach but there appeared to be a large private car park to the rear of the building.

We felt we had received good value for money and would certainly stay here again when the opportunity arose.

Travelled with Shearings in February 2014.
The hotel is very well positioned on the sea just opposite the pier. There are opportunities for walking on the flat from the hotel although there are steps to the hotel entrance. No doubt there is an access for those with limited mobility but it's not obvious.
The facade of the hotel looks very impressive and the reception and lounge areas are nicely decorated. However, because of the atrocious weather during our stay, there were numerous buckets and tubs placed around the floor near the windows to catch the leaks.
Our room (325) was a little tired but had good views along the sea front and the high street. It was on the corner of the hotel and the wind whistling through the cracks in the window frames (some of which were blocked with newspaper!) kept us awake at night. Still, it was February.
There were no toiletries provided in the somewhat dated bathroom.
The food was excellent both in its quality and choice. The service was brisk and friendly and the ambience was good.
Evening entertainment was as we expected - suitable for an older clientele. Plenty of bingo and singing.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel for a short stay.

Our trip was a five day Shearing trip starting on the 3rd Feb. My husband is 82 and I am 76, so not sprightly, And I push his wheelchair. Ok. here we go, you can hire scooters and chairs they are delivered to the hotel and can be charged in a lovely big room on special places. When you want to take them out if you go all the way thro the dining room and on the seafront side you will find doors that the staff will help you open onto a ramp, very easy, there are four steps at the main doors,I found in this cold windy weather I could get my husband covered properly before going out.
Our room was 200, we paid extra as it was a standard room + and the only difference between the next room was a better T V.
I was glad we didnt go for a seaview upgrade the rooms at the front were cold, and the hotel ran out of spare heaters to help them, I saw towels jammed in frames to keep the wind out,
I know the weather was bad and feel sure it wasnt the hotels fault.
Take a blanket for your legs if you plan going soon, sitting in the front area can be very cold if you want to read/drink/people watch, its a lot better if you are warm. This is not the time of year for warmth as it is a cold hotel.
The dressing table does not have a lamp/light, I have spoken to the manager re this, so if some-one is asleep and you get up early and want to make a cuppa you wont be able to see unless you put the overhead lights on. I had taken a touch.
Now in this room and I cant speak for the other rooms there was a lovely modern sink.
We couldnt empty the water, I called for the night porter and discovered behind the tap there
is a small lever, you just pull it up. MANAGER. please put a little note there to tell visitors
what to do.
Our bed was comfy, and the radiator had a thermastat so we could adjust it ourselves, this was good, we were cosy at the rear.
You have to order your papers.........
Now shopping, this only applies if you are pushing a wheelchair, The Arndale centre, you turn right and go down the next road, but be aware, there is a slight slope going down to it, which I may add you dont see, that is, until you are coming back and pushing against gale force winds uphill.
Food.........loved it.....service fine......lovely Denise.... breakfast loved the selection that was on display. However couldnt eat the cooked everyday, far too much for us oldies, so on the second day we was didnt even try.
I must add the decor when it is finished ( as the painters were there working every day)
will be lovely very tasteful.
Would I go back, off course, when the weather is better.

We booked our first coach holiday with Shearings and went to the Burlington Hotel in Eastbourne. Paid £89.00for 4 days and got a good £89,00 worth of holiday. The reception staff and shearing coach driver was very helpful and very polite. The only issue we have was the creaking floorboards in the whole of the hotel, come on Burlington all you need to do is put some talc down in the joints to solve this issue, because people walking across ceiling in rooms is horrendous. Can we also suggest some soundproofing of the dance room since you can hear the noise at least up to the third floor at midnight. But we would like to say it was very good value for money.

After a very poor start i. e mould on walls and rotting bathroom window frame and no shaver point in room 429 we were eventually moved to room 412 which I must say was extremely comfortable. Good standard of decoration comfortable bed adequate plug sockets and lighting although a little short on drawer space and a lovely sea view. The bar staff worked really hard and endeavoured to get everyone served in the quickest time they could. The meals in the restaurant were also of a good standard and were always hot, again staff worked really hard and never had long to wait in between courses. There was only one member of staff which I thought let the team down and that was Chrissie though other reviewers found her pleasant unfortunately I did not. When I asked for a room change she was quite abrupt and unhelpful and passed me on to another staff member who was very pleasant and did her best to see we had a better room. The only other downside was the lifts as it is a large hotel there are only two lifts, one which holds about 4 people comfortably and the other nicknamed "the coffin" was really tiny only taking two uncomfortably. So having said all that it was a very nice break and in a pleasant hotel which could do with a little TLC in certain rooms

I have never been on a coach holiday before, I decided to take my Dad to the Burlington Hotel last weekend and we had a great time. We had a great driver and received a warm welcome from the General Manager Chrissie. Breakfast and dinner were very nice and served by great staff. We enjoyed both of our days out, to Lewes with Kevin and Battle with Tony. The bar staff were really friendly and the host Mark was great. There is also free Wifi in the lounge areas. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wanted a stress free weekend in a hotel in a great location. Thank you - looking forward to booking my next holiday.

We visited Eastbourne to attend the TA parade on last Saturday morning. Travelled in heavy rain on Friday and arrived to dry weather. The room (320) was excellent, except the lighting was quite poor and were unable to read. There was no light over the dressing table and at the age of 85 I had to climb under the dressing table to plug in the hot brush for my wife, as there was no other plug nearby. The food and service was excellent, but once again we could not read the menu in the evening due to subdued lighting and poor printing! and had to ask other guests for help. Otherwise a most enjoyable stay and we hope to return again one day soon.
