Went last night. Rock of Ages was incredible. but... they've spent millions but still no aircon. Was like the ninth circle of hell at the top.

We’re working on a major renovation + new build welcome building to this fantastic theatre. I can’t comment on the shows but the place itself, and its close proximity to Eastbourne beach etc make it well worth the visit.

Show Spirit of the dance was brilliant the performers worked so hard. Downside, there was a fire alert and all had to leave the building, the alarm did not sound in the auditorium and there was no announcement, bad management. We were told by member of the audience. Also the bar area had very few seats, had to sit on tables. Bit of a shambles after a long and expensive refit 👎

Saw Michael Macintyre, so not hard to have a great time - we have't laughed so much in ages.

The theatre itself has had an expensive refit over the last few years which is very evident to anyone who visited the theatre before the work was done. For visitors you can see new carpets and wall decorations, plus the main benfit, new chairs - these are very comfortable (for a theatre) with generous leg room. I am sure that much more has been spent on the structure, and is not evident to the naked eye.

I love having this 60's designed and re generated theatre on the doorstep but for the second time recently the sound system seemed slightly out of kilter.

Prior to this acts like 10cc the sound has been fine.

Pristine theatre in the centre of Eastbourne. Easy access, plenty of on road free parking in surrounding roads as well. Theatre is clean, with roomy comfortable seating and a pleasant bar to get a drink before the show. Seen lots of shows here over the years and they are highly professional productions. The last one was Calendar Girls a few nights ago..very entertaining. Great venue outside of London with top quality shows.

How did this refurbishment take so long and cost so much. It clearly didn't include gents signs as they had to tape paper ones to the wall. Clearly the majority of the refurbishment was structural as it's not really that different. New seats was the most noticeable thing.

Went to see Rock of Ages 2nd night. It was absolutely brilliant whole cast were fantastic. Performance is so full of energy great singers brilliant dancers who really give there all. This is one of the best shows I have ever seen at the congress and I have seen a lot of shows there. If you don't enjoy this show and it doesn't bring back memories something's wrong.

Saw dirty dancing here cast seemed slightly subdued seemed to just be walking through the show till the last number which was beyond brilliant. Still don't know what cost so much money to refurbish the theatre and why it took so long.

Saw Top Hat absolutely brilliant production could be professionals really good show. Sound is suspect though. I first noticed this at last performance but thought it was me. Really poor sound though it's an issue for the theatre to resolve.

Saw Dirty Dancing which was great. Newly refurbished Congress Theatre with a new entrance. No more steps anywhere so easy access for disability. Dropped one star because I was freezing because of the air conditioning (I'll bring a blanket next time!), but otherwise glad to see it's back in business as there are a lot of good shows coming to Eastbourne.

Lovely visit to see Thank Abba for the Music to the newly furbished theatre. There is a open, modern, vibrant feel as soon as you walk in. The lighting throughout was good, the staff were nice and welcoming, (I bought a small lemonade for £1.60). The seating was comfortable and seemed somewhat wider. It was clearly signed for toilets, exits etc.

The sound was great, but the only problem I encountered was the spot lighting during the show was very much in our eyes. A little off putting for my sensitive eyes, however a great night overall!
I will be back again next month to see another show!

The air conditioning, at the Congress is obviously new. However it's not always a healthy advantage! Taking my seat yesterday evening, a continual blast of freezing cold air was the talking point of the evening rather than watching the show! Everyone was feeling the icy blast and all putting our coats back on, but even wearing a coat didn't prevent the shivers, and make the experience uncomfortable. May I request that the person/s responsible for the air conditioning, actually sit in the auditorium, and experience what you are inflicting on your paying audience.

Went to see Ben Portsmouth as Elvis on the opening night since the theatre reopened after renovation. But as there were a lot of people waiting on mass for the doors to open the bar area could not cope due to high demand for drinks. There was a long que but a lot of people decided to jump the que and it was just chaos. However the show was fantastic.

A great show tonight, but the overall impression of the £10m overspent, overrunning engineering works that is the Congress Theatre is..... "reopened whilst unfinished".

No sign for the gents (used power of deduction.... "ladies", "disabled/accessible", "blank"), wires hanging down, audience confusion as to which way is out (with people walking against the general flow), fire exit signs taped to the wall and a very strong smell of paint!

Staff were friendly and helpful in directing people around the place and the Duty Manager was certainly larger than life in welcoming us as we passed on the stairs!

The show must go on, but it seems an extra couple of weeks would have been handy!

Went to see the rocky horror picture show in the very newly redesigned Congress and I was very impressed, it's a very modern and classy environment. All the plans have been well thought from the bar to the many toilet facilities they seem to have. Every thing was clean and and comfortable and the views from the top were outstanding.
Highly recommend.

Amazing show as usually with the never ending joke about what did they actually do. Only very minor critism bit hot in the gods but did not spoil any of the show.
