We go to Eastbourne once or twice a year and this restaurant is one of our favourite places to eat. If you don't book in advance, I wouldn't rate your chances of getting a walkin as it is very popular.
We opted to skip the starters and dive straight into the pork belly and the sunday roast. Both were excellent, and just describing my choice as a 'sunday roast' doesn't do it justice. The beef was perfectly cooked, lots of fresh vegetables and all the trimmings.
I opted for a bottle of wine and we were given some excellent advice on a British wine from the Bolney vineyard, thank you for that.
Yes, we shared dessert, the eton mess was just too much for one after our main courses.

The only reason I would return to Eastbourne is this restaurant. Absolutely love this place. The owner and his partner/wife have a passion which I hope is not extinguished. A very compact but excellently run establishment. I had croquettes and ribeye, the Mrs had prawns and salt marsh lamb. Both excellently cooked and substantial portions. The service was second to none, the standard up there with the best. A totally relaxed dining experience. Keep it up guys, I wish you every success.

The food here is fantastic, interesting combinations of flavour and attractive simplistic presentation.We had a bunch of small plates that were all delicious and generously portioned( 8,50 for massive fresh prawns and clams, yes please!) .
I opted for the sirloin, cooked exactly how I asked and worth the modest £27 for 10 juicy ounces.The sauce that is served with the churros is worth the visit alone.
Service also impeccable.Without a doubt I will return here in the very near future.

We ordered a delivery for 5 people for my wife's birthday and it really was as good as when we visit the restaurant. The steak was perfectly cooked and had had just enough time to rest on the journey. Everything was really well packed and stayed hot and crispy. This is not a takeaway, its a restaurant meal at home. Thank you so much to all at Cru.

Had a Sunday evening meal delivered for my Mother's Birthday held during lockdown. Fantastic pre-order service and delivery bang on time. Good amazong quality and very ample portions! Hope many continue to support this excellent local business.

I was initially skeptical about a delivery roast. Luckily, my fears were completely unfounded.
Cru have pulled out all the stops to produce an incredible roast, with all the trimmings. It was delivered to schedule and still hot when arrived.
My partner and I are waxing lyrical about it to everyone that will listen. If you’re considering it, do it. You will not be disappointed. It was fantastic.

Cru were so accommodating for me to sample the 7 course tasting menu - which was fantastic. The service was excellent and the majority of the seven courses were delicious - my compliments to the chef. My favourite was the wild boar scotch egg. The restaurant had a buzzy friendly vibe yet small and intimate at the same time. The only thing that's letting you down is the toilet facilities - come on guys, we're in the middle of a pandemic and your toilets were shabby. Get them refurbished and then I'll give your restaurant an 'Excellent' score.

Best food & wine in Eastbourne, in a cozy and upmarket underground venue in Hyde Gardens. Lots of parking outside and a friendly welcome by Harvey/Jordan and their team. Knowledgeable with wine pairings, lots of Champagne and sparkling English wines on offer. I can't wait until after lockdown so I can go back. Just Brilliant!

Took the opportunity of lockdown to try the Sunday Lunch takeaway offering. Great service and the food was fantastic. Loved both the Nut Roast and the Meat roasts , with perfect Roast potatoes and best ever Red Cabbage! Autumn Crumble is a must as delicious. Probably could have done without the Crab Arancini balls to start, but far too tempting and well worth it. Cant wait till the next order !

I went to Cru with a friend for dinner one Friday night recently and have tk say that it was one of the best meals out I've had in a long time, particularly in the South East.
I had the best fillet steak I've ever had, a delicious wine to match and the team there were just awesome. Thanks so much to Harvey, Jordan and Erin who looked after us so well.

Came on here on a Sunday for a roast dinner with a few friends. The food was lovely as was the wine and the service was fast and friendly. Also a really lovely atmosphere! Will definitely be back :)

Amazing steak! Shared the tomahawk and it was cooked to perfection... Sides delicious as were the small plates of chorizo and scallops. Lovely attentive staff, really friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Booked a meal here on a short stay in Eastbourne. Difficult to find the restaurant - down a dark street with little signage - so you need google maps! Felt slightly more cramped than other restaurants with tables spaced but still felt a little near each other. Food was very good and the staff friendly. But meal slightly marred as my husband's wine glass shattered in his hand, just after being poured, covering the table. Staff moved us and cleared up the mess but no offer of replacing the wine. So paid for a bottle of wine and only had three quarters of it through no fault of our own. Shame that they couldn't make this small gesture as the rest of the customer service had been good.
