Excellent, enjoyed a walk on the pier and some top live music from the Watson brothers in the Drop in the ocean bar 😁

Due to Covid the pier had been closed on my last visit Sept ‘20. It’s had a bit of a refurb and some units are still open during the winter season.

The usual chips and donuts can be found here, with some small retail units as you walk out to the pier being empty and when hopefully let for the new season more should be going on. A good walk with the usual arcades at the end.

In the seaside setting of Eastbourne Pier. Lots of crystal and scented artifacts to buy - daughters loved.

The pier is a beautiful structure and impressive to look at. Unfortunately at the end of October, many of the pavilions were empty and to let. The Victoria tea room looked popular and the Drop in the Ocean at the end of the pier was offering 'live entertainment' with music blaring out.

There were a couple of gift souvenir shops, a glass studio, candy shop and 'new age' Crystals and Candles. One of the smaller pavilions did have slot machines, but apart from that, there was only the booth with Zoltar speaking your fortune for £1.

I enjoyed a walk down the pier - it certainly blew away the cobwebs and there are good views of Eastbourne and the prom from it.

When opened it cost 1d to walk down it. Now it is free!

Eastbourne Pier is one of the more elaborate historical piers on the English Channel coast and offers the usual amenities: a pub near the end of the pier, plus food stalls and souvenir booths - and, of course, the obligatory fish & chips diner ("The Chippy") at the entrance. It isn't quite as fancy or colorful as Brighton Pier, which may be a good thing. It's also not as crowded. Definitely the Number One place to vistit if you're ever in Eastbourne. It's also been well maintained. The pub at the end of the pier ("The Ocean Kitchen") offers the usual choice of lagers and a few keg beers at slightly - but not outrageously - elevated prices, plus a nice outside seating area. Smoking/vaping is only allowed in certain designated areas on the pier - not that anyone really cares. Suffice to say, entrance to the pier itself is free.

This is a superb pier, with some evidence of renovation. Sadly, the new part are white uPVC buildings. The style is in keeping with the pier, but not the materials. So much more could be don with this venue.
