Of the many Greek restaurants I have visited Gr/Eat has proved to be one of the best. The total team are delightfully happy and helpful, the ambience perfect, then the food? Hard to tell that I was in Eastbourne and not in a friendly taverna somewhere in Greece. Visit once and you will return.

We only wanted a light meal so had the Greek Salad. Plenty for me but my Husband could have eaten a slightly larger portion. However, the meal was good with authentic taste and the service being really good at a busy time.

Visited with family all adults.
Popped in on a busy Saturday lunch, all tables seem to be reserved and we were quite disappointed after reading the fantastic reviews. The owner then sorted a table but asked for it back after 2 hours which was very generous.
Most took the lunch deal, the food was really delicious, hot and huge portions , all had a starter and main, no room for any desserts, all had a drink. 5 adults and it was just over £68, amazing value but more importantly the food was so good. Can’t wait to return

Amazing Greek food, beer & wine!. We dined outside with a wonderful Meze to start, followed by souvlakis & mousaka. Brilliant staff as always. Have now eaten here more than 10 times, highly recommend.

This really is a very busy place, so if you are thinking of a visit you need to book, even on what you might except to be quiet days. The Greek food is good, we had the Meze which was tasty and good value. The house wine was also pleasing. The only drawback is that due to the popularity of the place, you do feel a bit rushed in order that they can use the table again, so don't expect to have a long relaxing meal.

We managed to get a table just as it opened yesterday the 26th.
Very lucky as every table was already reserved for most of the evening. The manager and team were superb.
Food was great, from the squid and also carrot croquette starters, through both the chicken and pork souvlakis. Wish we had room for desert. And the beer was very nice too.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED but you must try to book ahead.

I didn't find it. This is precisely why I take the time out to write on TA - I found this through TA and it delivered.
First time ever in Eastbourne – probably not the last – feeling a bit fatigued the morning after the night before, I knew Greek food could cure me. The reviews were good, they weren’t wrong.
When I came to London first, the place was awash with plate-smashy Greek tavernas and kebab shops serving things I’ve never seen in Greece. The Greeks blame Cyprus. These are almost all gone now. Creeping in are a new wave serving good things made possible by the ease with which Greek food can be imported until Brexit. I love the new wave Greeks we have now in London: Food Filosophy, Life Goddess, It’s all Greek to Me. I’ve developed a dopamine addiction to Dakos salad even though I’ve never been to Crete. The little spinach and onion seed pies (Greek samosas really) the two lovely ladies at the Brunel museum on a Midnight Apothecary night dish up are insanely good. Bring it all on. (Konaki – don’t worry – you were always in a class of your own. A neighbourhood restaurant in central London is rarer than a greek budget surplus).
So a new wave Greek caff in Eastbourne, even a monster hangover couldn’t keep me away. And did it deliver? Did it ever.
We got a bunch of dips and salads to start, each one memorable. This was months ago. Given that I can’t remember what happened yesterday, memorable is serious stuff. These delicious dips were none of the usual suspects. They were also in sizeable proportions – beware. There was a white bean hummus, an ultra-delicious fava bean dip and a good salty white cheese and pimento dip that all was better than it sounds. The beetroot salad was actually worth having – they’re often just good for you. And we had one of those lovely warming beany tomatoey oily stews that the greeks do so well, with giant beans – the Lou Ferrignos of the pulse world.
A mix up on the moussaka was a mixed blessing. It looked as big as Crete, but had meat in it. Rather than hang about for it’s veggie cousin, I persuaded the nice chef/prop to sell me a jar of his Mum’s tomato sauce instead.
So we’ll be back for that moussaka. We stuffed our faces for something like £12 each and didn’t even give the desserts a shakedown. Very good value. I also want to be in a buying mood- the shelves are laden with the kind of produce I really fancy – fir honey, air-dried herbs, almond and honey biscuits. Worth travelling to Eastbourne for. From the outer Hebrides.

Our Meetup group of 8 went here tonight. The meze three course meal was plentiful, great quality and value for money and service was very good. We were not rushed and indeed asked if we would like a break in between courses. We would definitely return. Literally Gr/eat venue!

Found this absolute gem of a restaurant on trip advisor which had vast majority of good reviews. My word we weren’t disappointed the food and service was exquisite so tasty fantastic portion sizes very good value and top drawer service will definitely be coming back best food we’ve had by some margin for quite some time.

We stopped in for dinner this past weekend during Airborne in Eastbourne. This is the busiest week of the year for local restaurants, and Gr/Eat handled it with ease. They don't take reservations online but I requested one via email at the address listed on their website and the owner responded within 24 hours with a confirmation of our date/time. When we got there, we couldn't have been more impressed! Every member of the wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and excellent. We started with the Baked Feta which is something you can't miss. It was unbelievable! Following that we ordered the Moussaka and a chicken in cream sauce dish and both were amazing. No wonder this is one of the highest rated restaurants in Eastbourne - they deserve it! Thanks for the great experience - we'll definitely be back.

After reading reviews on good place to eat mixed with the owner being an A hole, I thought I would give it ago.
The owner certainly does have an air of arrogance about him, which amused me, but he wasn’t rude as such. The staff didn’t fall over themselves to please you, which suited me as I don’t like being asked “Is everything OK?” every 10 minutes. The place is small enough that you could get their attention if wanted.
If you have high expectations about service and want to feel ‘special’ then stay clear. If you want decent food and reasonable prices then give it a go.
I visited just after 6pm on a Thursday and was quiet (to start with). Perhaps 8:30pm on a weekend may have been a different experience.

Whilst visiting Eastbourne my wife and i decided to visit this restaurant. The restaurant was very busy even mid week a good sign that the food is good and the food wasn't just good it was fantastic, traditional Greek food cooked the traditional Greek way. The owner was very friendly and wanted to make sure that we both were enjoying our meal. The staff were wonderful and busy all the time and our waitress Danielle was a darling very polite and really looked after us.Thanks for a wonderful evening and we will definitely return.

Out with the family in Eastbourne and realised it was lunchtime. A quick search of trip advisor showed this little gem was only a few metres away. We were bowled over - everything was superb. The kids ate dips then pork belly with gusto, which I was surprised about. The reason for 4 not 5 stars? My main came with the chips I had specifically asked to be left off and my husband's main was delayed by his order being confused with something else. However, would not hesitate to go back.

I miss the Greek Islands but there is a little paradise in Eastbourne. I honestly felt like I was in a Greek Taverna - the atmosphere is spot-on, the people warm and friendly and the food straight from the med.

Went here with high expectations but was a bit disappointed, not with the food but the atmosphere. The owner I suppose was all over but not talkative and with no smile on his face. The whole dinner was served within an hour and you got the feeling you should leave to let other guests in.

Gr/eat Chic Greek Deli and Kitchen
To come clean, I've never been the greatest fan of Greek food - preferring Turkish and Arabic. BUT this fairly newish Deli changed my opinion and backs the mission on their website of "Redefining Greek Food"
For a start its vibrant and not staid as many traditional Greek Tavernas are. The staff are attentive and smart, the menu is interesting and the food (and wine) extremely good.
A cold Friday night and we still needed to book for one of the all evening tables. As we ate straight after work we were happy to vacate at 8.15pm.
For the record we had, Olives, Moussaka, Chicken Souvlaki and Baklava washed down with the best bottle of Greek Red Wine I've had, a Mirambelo at £17.50. Total with tip £50 which represented gr/eat value.
We will be back.

My third visit here this was for a family birthday celebration lunch and didn't disappoint. Our group of 4 selected the Meze and the house white, a crisp Cretan number! Our waitresses looked after us bringing a range of dishes and checking we had enough to drink. We had a lovely table in the window with all the doors open and warm sun blazing in, Greek music playing in the background. there was an amazing ambience...I feel I could have been in Greece in a Taverna! Thank you for such a fabulous meal !

This place serves nice food but it's the service and the entertainment by the owner, sings a lot Elvis Tom Jones etc, good fun, enjoy a night out

Arrived on the off chance at 6.30 on a Saturday and were filly booked but found a table as long as we cleared by 8.30. Decided on the meze at 19.90 each and left at8.15 totally stuffed with the food which just kept coming. I remember that the pork and chicken skewers came after at least two previous meat dishes and more came after.. a beer two glasses of wine and row meze s for £50. Blinding.

Fab little gem, set up in a cute and quirky vintage way...we sadly only had time for coffee and a cocktail (both perfect) but obviously had a little perv at what others were eating, it looked stunning and all we heard were positive comments!! I couldn't let my visit go by without a review however, because of the service! Absolutely faultless...attentive and friendly and a bit of a giggle with a perfect professional balance, we were attending a wedding so when we are back for the christening (haha) I am going back for dinner!! Locals really must try it!

The food and service is excellent. I would say that this is the best restaurant in eastbourne. Extremely busy but most enjoyable evening. Wish they had a restaurant in the Midlands. Would definitely visit again.
