I have stayed here twice in November. It is a must if you are looking for great service and excellent location.
The staff are so friendly and helpful and the building its self is amazing apar from a scary small lift! But that just adds to the ambience of the premises. I loved staying there and will book again for next year.

I stayed at the hydro for 3 nights. The hotel is lovely.
I dealt personally with 2 of the reception staff Tasha who was lovely, friendly and very professional and Emma who in my opinion needs a great deal more of training both in her job and in customer service when i went to for some help she seemed moody and didnt known what she was doing.
This was the only downside to my stay the rest of the staff where very nice.

My friends & I booked an early Christmas lunch at the Hydro. There were 5 of us & we had our lunch in the conservatory. The lunch menu was very varied & catered for all tastes & pockets. I went for the trio. It comprised of mushroom & sherry soup with sandwiches & skinny fries. You could choose your filling. My friends had soup & a roll. Another had a jacket spud, another had beef lasagne. We were all pleased with our dishes. It's a lovely place to have lunch & I hope to go again.

Second time I’ve stayed here and it’s one of the most comfortable and well run hotels I’ve stayed in .....and I’m a traveller . So good to have breakfast in the room watching the sun rise over the sea.

We were looked after very well by Stefan and his team from coming in the hotel, being in the Library for drinks before lunch and then in the Orangery where we had lunch. We then returned to the Library to cut our cake and have coffee and tea with our guests.
The atmosphere was very relaxed and food and wine excellent.
We often come to the Hydro for a cup of coffee or tea in the conservatory overlooking a lovely lawn and the sea. One can also sit anywhere in the foyer and enjoy a drink and read a book or do a puzzle.
So we can highly recommend this beautiful venue for any occasion, formal or informal.

Have stayed here on about 10 different occasions and can never fault it! Spacious, clean rooms with fridge and tea/coffee facilities. Great breakfast and have tried the Full English, porridge and scrambled eggs on toast .... all delicious. Evening dinner just as good with lovely atmosphere in the main dining room. Nicely located above the beach with lovely walks into town and in the opposite direction up to Beachy Head. Great hotel, great staff and we will be back 😁

Popped in for tea and scone/teacake after walking our dog on the seafront. Excellent service - friendly staff member went to fetch water for the dog before we'd taken coats off. Really good cup of tea too. Good scone and excellent teacake. And such a peaceful, calm and warm place to relax after a bracing walk.

Visited for afternoon tea with friends and used the private dining rooms, which were plentiful. Beautiful surroundings, very helpful, attentive and friendly staff and great tea and cakes. Ample parking and easily accessible.

We visited for my partners birthday as a surprise along with our family members. The room was gorgeous, spacious, had great views and was super clean. On arrival we we were upgraded free of charge once they realised it was for an occasion. Hannah who booked our room was professional and courteous. I would recommend highly to friends and family and will certainly be visiting again. If you visit ask for Hannah, she will sort you out.

I spent a very happy 2 nights at the Hydro hotel recently. It was a nostalgic trip, as in the ‘50s my grand parents had lived there for several years. I was in a large, twin room with sea view, overlooking the garden. I didn’t have a main meal while I was there, but the breakfast was excellent, with a very wide choice and the hot dishes cooked to order - not buffet style. The staff were all very helpful.

This was my fourth visit to the Hydro and I always enjoy staying there.
Before I retired I had a very demanding job which required me to travel around the UK and Scandinavia, so I have had a lot of experience of staying in different hotels ranging from traditional to the ultra modern.
Now I have more leisure time I like to take several short breaks a year and find this hotel is one I am happy to return to.
The Hydro offers a combination of late Victorian grandeur and charm with modern bedrooms and facilities. The staff are excellent; friendly, attentive and efficient. The food in the Crystal Restaurant is first rate, offering a full range of breakfast options and there is a varied selection of main meals in the restaurant each day, including fish, meat and vegetarian dishes.
I always stay in the same room which is very clean, comfortable and quiet.
I love staying at the Hydro!

We stayed at the Hydro for our anniversary. We had a two day stay {Friday and Saturday). We were in room 105 which is just over the front entrance. It was quiet (except for the noisy people above). The room had a large bay window with good views of the water. It was billed as a side sea view room. The room was large, clean and well appointed. The bathroom was large and very clean. The Hydro is a large hotel with great lounge area and two good places to eat, the Crystal restaurant and the conservatory. We had also booked for a Winston Churchill talk and lunch on the Saturday. It was just the best!!! The lady who runs the events team was very good as she organises all the functions. If you are looking for a place to stay in Eastbourne and enjoy good food this could be the place for you. By the way, if you book an event talk to events team about staying over as they can offer special rates as they did for us.

We recently had a 5 day retreat for 21 ladies at the hotel using the Wedgewood room. The room was light, perfect for our stitchers and quilters plus it overlooks the sea from the first floor so great view. The hotel was very comfortable, the food was lovely and the staff very helpful. Nothings was too much trouble. We have already booked for next year and will be returning. We didn't try the afternoon tea but it looked delicious and is on our list for next year. The location is good with the pier and town being about 20-25 minutes walk depending on your ability. You're just up the hill from the Grand Hotel also. Definately work afternoon tea there or a short day.

A very nice establishment with excellent staff. We popped in for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. Food was excellent and well presented, a good selection too. After the meal you can retire to the lobby area for tea, which is a nice touch.

We availed ourselves of the Hydro’s facilities during a fortnight’s stay in Eastbourne in late October. A relation stayed at the Hydro for three nights and was impressed by the room, service and breakfasts. Otherwise we had two excellent meals in the Crystal Restaurant: very reasonably priced, first rate service, very good food. On other occasions we had tea in the lounge area; totally relaxing, unobtrusive service, generosity with the tea, sandwiches, biscuits. It is a superb hotel.

I only asked for a single room but got a lovely double room for single occupancy at no extra charge. I also had a fabulous view over the hotel gardens, the beach and towards a cliff. All the staff were very nice and extremely helpful, particularly the night porter when I got locked out of my room because I had put my room key next to my phone. The food was excellent in the Crystal Room. Wifi was unavailable in my part of the hotel, my only criticism.

On a wet November afternoon as the light faded we came across this old fashioned hotel welcoming us in out of the rain a good excuse to have a hot drink which turned into afternoon tea and cake.
The cakes both where fresh well presented with a friendly atmosphere highly recommended if your looking for something to do on a wet day at the coast

An exceptionally well run hotel. All staff, whatever team they are in work efficiently and enthusiastically to give complete guest satisfaction. Especial credit to the largely unseen Head Chef and his kitchen team for innovative, well presented meals, served by attentive, knowledgeable and well trained staff.
Unusually for a British hotel, we had a faultless break that encourages a return visit.

Excellent location with beautiful gardens and sea views. The public rooms are spacious but far too hot with the central heating on full blast. The food in the restaurant was lovely and served on really hot plates which was a welcome change from so many restaurants these days. Service was good too. Not much room in their car park but there’s plenty of unrestricted roadside parking.
Our room was small but we had a side view of the sea which we weren’t expecting. The bathroom was OK but needed a bit of repair to the door frame and the shower wasn’t very powerful. The bed was fairly hard, the pillows awful and the duvet far too thick. I asked for a thinner duvet but they said they didn’t have any and no other pillows either. They offered me a sheet and blanket instead which I accepted but it never arrived in my room. If I go again I’ll take my own bedding!

We live in Aberdeen and travelled here to attend a wedding reception. We stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is well-positioned with fine views over the sea and cliffs. We did not book a sea view room but to our surprise, we could see the sea from our bedroom window. Our room was small but very comfortable with good quality materials and the mattress of the bed was also very comfortable. There was a walk-in wardrobe which was welcome as we had our wedding reception clothing that needed hanging up. The public areas are all very nicely appointed with good quality wooden panelling and conducive to relaxation. All the hotel staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Even other hotel guests were easy to speak with and two ladies we met were full of joy at staying at the Hydro. The meals were always delicious and cooked breakfast is served in the traditional manner by the serving staff so everything is freshly cooked and included warm serving plates that we particularly like to have. The free wifi was very good in most areas of the hotel. It was a pleasure staying at this hotel and recommend it to anyone who likes the traditional style of hotel. I am sure the Hydro Hotel gets a lot of repeat customers who enjoy the ambience of such places at reasonable prices.

The sun was shining in Eastbourne. Hotel has a lovely atmosphere. The gardens are pretty overlooking the sea.
The afternoon entertainment was amazing. Singer to Stevie wonder. He had everyone memorised and they were dancing around the tables. The staff there were top nosh so helpful and quick.
Only downside was not much parking on site.

I had the pleasure of celebrating with forty guests at this lovely hotel. I planned the whole function in advance with the excellent events team and the management of the hotel. I cannot praise them enough for their co-operation, their professionalism and the beautiful setting in the Garden Suite. The cuisine was delicious and tastefully presented. The chef deserves special mention here, the staff attentive, charming and really well-trained. I hope to celebrate my 80th at The Hydro in five years' time.
My family's favourite hotel on the south-east coast.
