We had some friends visiting and since we live practically opposite The Hydro we thought we would treat them to a proper cream tea on the Saturday afternoon.
We had previously had a great birthday cream tea the previous year and knew that our friends would not be disappointed.
Yet again the service and quality of the food was superb. We managed to finish everything except for one cake which we thought was quite an achievement as people on other tables were packing up some of the cakes to take home!
Thanks to everyone for helping make our friends' weekend so enjoyable.
We will be back again - probably wearing looser clothing!

My wife and I had the pleasure to lunch at the Crystal restaurant today, usually we know what we like to have, however we had to really mull through the new menu that Rosie laid before us, always with that lovely smile of hers.

We had the the grilled chicken breast salad, I have to say that I am not overly keen of salad served in most restaurant’s, usually uninteresting shredded ‘rabbit’ food, but this salad was beautifully prepared and presented with a variety of salad leaf and I have to say absolutely delicious and very filling.

Fabulous time at The Hydro Hotel. All of the staff were extremely helpful and polite, and nothing was too much trouble. We had a stunning sea view room, which was very clean, with a very comfortable bed, & tea/coffee facilities. Wonderful cream tea and buffet, and a great breakfast. We liked the different areas of the hotel - library for coffee and the conservatory for a drink and evening meal. We will definitely be back.

i amm 78 yrs,my wife a bit younger,(i dont want a row) when we go for a break we want to be pampered a bit, this hotel has staff trained to a high standard, and every effort is made to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing, all age groups come here, and its a delight to engage in conversations that dont reflect "social media rants", and to observe marriage ceremonies or families together is a tonic to us,long live the hydro and all who work there, john and lesley p

Celebrating 50 years on leaving Chelsea College Eastbourne a group of us met up in the town. The Hydro provided the base for a few of us to stay and then all the extras for making the reunion work. The provision of a room to seat 25 of us, beautifully laid out and with a menu to match. The staff were always helpful and willing to go the extra distance with getting things right. A friend and I had a very comfortable twin room with view to the sea... and some very nosy seagulls.. realised we had to keep the windows latched!! Breakfasts were excellent with a full choice and good buffet table. We thank the bar staff on Sunday morning when we rather took over one area in the conservatory when college friends came for the final coffee time get together.. but it was very much appreciated that you let us re organise the tables for the time we were there. In all a superb place to stay for a reunion of this sort.

A huge thank you to The Hydro Hotel for taking such good care of us this afternoon, (Sunday) in the Wedgwood Room.

From our very first meeting with the Manager Jonathan, the journey to its delivery today was easy.

The room was set out as we had planned and nothing was too much trouble for the hotel to take care of providing a few extra things we needed.

The staff were helpful and welcoming attentive, pleasant and professional.

The Cream Tea was plentiful with a lovely full range of sandwiches, cakes and scones on a tiered cake stand. A nice proper English Tea!

The view out on the terrace (which we had full use of) gave us views of the garden and the sea and to top it all they even took care of the weather!

Great team effort.

This was the second time at the Hydro .We felt relaxed immediately and enjoyed going to see the room. It was perfect for us, not the biggest room but cosy ,clean and everything that you want at your command! From our room cleaner to the restaurant staff, everyone could not have treated us better if we had been royalty ( we felt like it!) . The food was second to none ,we could have had anything off the menu (and we did!). I wish that we could have stayed longer but we will certainly be back before the end of the year!

Best location. Very comfortable with a warm friendly ambiance. Super breakfasts and great staff. The Hydro has been constantly welcoming and often organises interesting lunch entertainment 'do's. I have been a regular visitor since childhood (60years!)Feels like a second home. What more do you want.

Just returned from an overnight stay whilst visiting to do the cliff walk from Eastbourne to Seaford. The hotel is in a great location right on the seafront and ideal walking distance to either the cliffs or into the town. The hotel, grounds and room were spotlessly clean and all the staff were extremely friendly. The room was plenty big enough for 2 and has complementary tea and coffee.
The selection at breakfast was very good both for the continental and cooked options. The cooked breakfast was very good and piping hot.
Would definitely recommend seaview room or side seaview room.
Will definitely stay again if in the area.

Myself, wife and daughter spent two nights along with breakfast and dinner. Everything was excellent from the cleanliness, quality of food and the service, including a slight error on my final bill being dealt with very quickly and professional by the General Manager. Very impressed and loved our stay and therefore will be returning. Thank you one and all. Peter Jordan and family.

Visited yesterday with my Mum and Sister for afternoon tea in the conservatory. Just wanted to say thank you for a superb Gluten Free version of the tea. My Mum & Sister had the regular version which also looked great but I was really impressed with mine. I often miss out with cakes etc, but this was superb, I especially loved the GF scone which was excellent. We did have to pre-order mine obviously but it was was worth it and they catered for me extremely well. Thank you!

Had a great musical and lunch experience here with our four friends Saturday 18th May 2019.
Three course lunch was First class and served by very attentive staff with the sound of a charming young lady singing the hits of the 50's and 60's.
We finished off with Coffee's in the lounge what an excellent way to spend a day.
Looking forward to our next visit !

We found the Hydro Hotel when we had to change our plans at the last minute and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. Our good sized bedroom had a sea view, was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Breakfast really was outstanding and evening meals are delicious. All the staff we came into contact with were helpful, understanding and totally professional. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and intend to return at some point in the near future.

Decided to book a weekend away as a treat. The hotel was nice enough but felt let down by the bathroom. Our room was beautifully decorated and looked like it had not long been done. However the bathroom really needed a refurb, it was stuck in the 70’s and the shower was so weak. Our room was also really warm, thinking it would be unbearable if it was a lovely warm day. Staff were really friendly though and always smiling which was nice.

We decided to have a short break at Eastbourne as we hadn’t visited that part of the world. We were not disappointed with the hotel or the location, the Hydro Hotel was great. We had a warm welcome from the receptionist, our room was large, with a lovely big bathroom. All the extras you would expect (hairdryer, flat screen TV, tea/coffee making facilities) with a large bath and separate cubical shower. Our room had been recently renovated, it was very clean and well appointed.
The hotel was very spacious and had a warm atmosphere.
We enjoyed afternoon tea in the large conservatory which overlooked the gardens at the rear of the hotel. The breakfast was particularly good, with a buffet for fruit, cereals etc with our main breakfast being cooked fresh to our liking.
The staff were very friendly and attentive.
Beachy Head was a short drive from the hotel which was amazing.

We have just enjoyed a short break at the Hydro hotel. This is a clean, comfortable well run hotel with friendly and helpful staff. I would particularly mention a young apprentice waiter,he is courteous and efficient, enthusiastic and friendly. The Hydro should be applauded for an apprenticeship scheme that enables young, talented people to realise their ambitions.

A lovely hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. The weekend we visited was rather chilly and sadly the room was cold during the afternoon with no way of adjusting the heating. This would not put us off from returning. Food excellent!

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for during the long weekend. We were really happy with the service afforded by their staff. Our check in and check out was hassle free, quick and efficient. Our room was spic and span and spacious enough.
In the afternoon we had tea and the view in their conservatory area was simply amazing!
We had a lovely dining experience at their Crystal restaurant. Everyone attending to our needs was courteous and nice. The meal was really tasty.
The hotel’s location to the beach was just a few minutes walk. Overall we left happy and smiling!

My husband and I were married in the licensed garden venue at the Hydro Hotel on Easter Saturday. We had the most perfect day after over two years of preparation. The hotel had worked with us throughout this time taking note of all our requests for personalisation of the day and liaising with our suppliers..
All the detailed preparation paid off and the weekend had no hitches at all. We had a drinks reception for 60 in a reserved room on Good Friday and were ourselves in the lobby and restaurant area all afternoon and evening as over 40 guests were arriving for the weekend. All our guests were settled in their rooms and then had food in the restaurant areas before the evening reception. The hotel provided a light buffet in the evening as requested, which was perfect and enjoyed by all along with the bar service.
On Saturday morning the hotel commenced preparation for our wedding. I had breakfast served in my room as I did not want to risk seeing my bridegroom before the service. Julien from the hotel management made sure I had all I needed as my hair (thanks Sharon) and make-up (Butterfly Beauty) were done and flowers were delivered (Ladybird Flowers). They also helped my son who was checking that all was in place as we had arranged. We had a few last minute changes due to 2 guests not being able to come on the Saturday and these were dealt with without any fuss. The staff assisted my son to make sure everything was exactly as we had requested for the wedding. All ran like a well oiled machine as I was escorted to see the Registrar and then taken down to the Garden Suite ready to walk down the aisle on my sons arm after the groom, best man and page boys had taken their places. The hotel staff played our chosen music at the appropriate times and the service was beautiful.
We had time for photographs and chats with our guests outside before the staff took us into the Garden Suite to prepare to welcome our guests in for the wedding breakfast in the beautifully decorated room (Mulberry Events).
The delicious meal we had selected from our menu tasting earlier in the year was served seamlessly by very efficient staff for whom nothing was too much trouble, even an on the spot menu change for a guest. François was brilliant having operated the music for us, checked with us before the wedding breakfast, organised our receiving line and announced the speeches. It seemed as if all our needs were anticipated and dealt with in advance of a request.
After the speeches we left for a while with our lovely photographer (Martin Briggs) to have some extra photos taken on the seafront before retiring to our beautiful suite, The Downland overlooking the lawns and sea, to refresh before our evening reception.
By then the room had been rearranged for the evening and Martins Mobile Disco was set up and the Photogenie Photo-booth to entertain our guests. Our first job was to cut the beautiful cake provided by Rhean Williams which tasted delicious. After the first dance we relaxed with our guests and had a wonderful evening through to midnight with Hannah Francis making sure, once again, through the evening that everything was as we wished, including the sumptuous evening buffet provided. We finally retired to our suite having had the most wonderful wedding day that we will always remember.
The following morning 71 of us had breakfast in the Crystal Restaurant. The hotel seated us all in the same area and had provided Easter Eggs for everyone at the Hotel, a lovely gesture. All but 14 of our guests then left, the remainder of us staying to have a family lunch in the Conservatory restaurant with an Easter Egg hunt for the grandchildren in the garden. After drinks in the Drawing Room that evening and a private breakfast for us all the following morning our wedding weekend was finally over.
We can honestly say that the whole weekend was perfect and cannot thank the hotel enough for all they did to make it so for us and our guests. We had family and friends from as far as Australia and Sweden and all agreed that the hotel was superb with many planning to return to stay again. When we had first viewed wedding venues in Eastbourne this stood out because of the grounds and the staff and we definitely made the right choice.
Thank you Hydro staff, the memories you have given us will last a lifetime.
