Great service and lovely refurbed rooms, let down only by a below average breakfast (otherwise would have been 5 out of 5)

I cannot fault the Langham Hotel, Eastbourne. The food is excellent and I am surprised that an Eastbourne hotel is able to keep such a fantastic chef (sorry Eastbourne). The friendliness and professionalism of all the staff equals the quality of the food. I am only along the coast in Brighton and regularly dine out so know what I am talking about. The hotel was recommended to me by a lady who attends the hotel’s lunch club.
I had booked a superior see facing room which was lovely. The hotel scores high on paying careful attention to detail.
I do think that the reception area could do with livening up a bit. When I arrived and saw the somewhat old fashion red carpet I did think ‘oh dear’ but I was wrong. I definitely will return.

Have enjoyed many lunches in this Hotel, Cream Teas and just coffee, but we stayed for dinner bed and breakfast over the weekend and what an absolute treat. The comfortable bedrooms are well furnished and equipped, as are the bathrooms. The beds are very comfortable and we slept really well. The menu choice for dinner, which we had served in the very pleasant conservatory was impressive and they were able to cater for my no salt diet (as they always do on the lunch club occasions), without any issue and no prior notice needed. A sign of an excellent restaurant. The food served, as always, was superb and of a good quantity. Breakfast the next morning, again served in the Conservatory was excellent and a very good selection to choose from. The porridge that we had was delicious and also the cooked breakfast, again catering for my dietary needs. You are always assured of a very warm welcome here from Neil & Wendy Kirby, the owners, Simon, the Hotel Manager and all of the very friendly and efficient staff. Cannot recommend it highly enough and would not want to stay anywhere else in Eastbourne.

A fabulous hotel! Really friendly and welcoming, lovely staff, comfortable, clean rooms, great location and great food. The dining areas - are spacious as well as the bar. Lovely decor and carpets. Really enjoyed eating in the conservatory looking straight out to sea. Leisurely, lovely breakfasts. Perfect.

Loved this place. We were checked in efficiently and made our way to our room at the top of the stairs. There is a lift for those who need it. The room was very clean, soundproof and well equipped with tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom had a powerful shower - always welcome. The beds were comfortable. The best thing about the hotel was the breakfast room that was at the front of the hotel; really enjoyable to watch the world go by in whilst eating! The fact that it was across the road from the beach was a bonus too. Would have given 5 stars but lack of parking meant 4. Great place for a short break. Would definitely recommend.

We throughly enjoyed our first visit to the Langham Hotel. Everything was spotlessly clean, nothing was ever too much trouble from any of the staff. The food was very good, but for me there was too many things on there that contained mushrooms, which I cannot eat, otherwise it was all good. We will certainly look at going back there again.

My husband and I have just returned from this lovely seafront Hotel and enjoyed our stay very much. We paid the extra for an executive sea view room and was given the Amberly room which had an enormous queen size bed and was very comfortable. Large walk in shower, tea, coffee and biscuits replenished every day as well as bottles of water. Reception staff were very good at responding to my pre-arrival emails. I reserved a car park space which costs £9 a day and located at the back of the hotel which we thought was very reasonable.
Breakfast was served looking out on the sea and was freshly prepared with excellent service. Again Dinner was very good and our waiters Zbignieu and Lukasz were friendly and very knowledgeable about the various wines on the menu.
We were served a glass of Champagne each and a lovely Birthday cake on our 1st night which I thought was a lovely touch in recognition of my birthday.
We met Neil the owner who was often seen around the hotel welcoming guests.
Overall, a relaxing break with excellent service throughout. Would happily return and might do just that for Christmas 2020.

Stayed for 4 nights on business this week. Room was nice, clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I didn't use the restaurant for food, preferring the bar whilst staying on my own, FYI it looked quite nice, good menu and £25 for 3 courses I think.
Bar had a reasonable selection of food that I quite enjoyed and was well priced as were the drinks. Breakfast was included and pretty decent, bought to you rather than a buffet style, only downside was it was absolutely boiling in the dining area, unbearably so.
Overall a nice stay and I'd be happy to spend my own money here.

We booked a midwinter break at the Langham which turned out to be quite exceptional both in standard and value. We enjoyed a ‘superior’ room on the second floor with a bay window giving us a great view of the front and the sea. The room had clearly been newly refurbished and this had been done to a very high standard with all the requirements we could have needed, including a responsive control for the heating. Included in our deal was an excellent evening dinner giving us good choices over the three courses. The menu also varied from day to day. The first and third courses in particular were imaginative and well presented. Breakfast was served at the table which meant that choices, which were generous, had to be made before starting to eat. Although this also meant that you couldn’t ‘pig out’ at the buffet many hotels provide (and finish off the last pains au chocolat), this wasn’t really a problem for us and we enjoyed a good, varied, well prepared breakfast both days. I should add that those serving us, both at dinner and breakfast, were respectful and efficient, but also friendly. In fact all the hotel staff had a friendly manner. We have stayed in many hotels in England (not least Eastbourne) and abroad, and I struggle to think of a better experience than this.

A great hotel just ten minute walk from town. Very reasonable rates. Rooms fresh and clean and great rooms with a sea view. Breakfast and dinner very varied and cooked to a high standard. Staff always happy to help. Been here several times and will stay again. Also has parking.

The food wasd truly amazing and in very generous portions. We stayed in a sea view room which we enjoyed. A refurbished room and bathroom, The shower was a bit tight but it was fine. The mirror overthe wahbasin was in the shadow, and there was no magnifying mirror, but these are trivial quibbles. No duvet but the light blanket was sufficient.
The food was simply excellent and very good value. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a primw position to be quiiet, with promenade walks, and a very good local cafe which is better thyan it looks on first glance.

We came to this hotel again for the New Year having stayed the previous year and enjoyed splendid hospitality. We were not disappointed.
The staff were friendly, helpful and service was first class. The package was for two nights including a New Year's Eve gala dinner. A trip to the panto was also included which was good fun.
The rooms are very comfortable and clean and a sea view is highly recommended.
The only negative comment is that breakfast on New Year's day finished at 10am, but I am nitpicking!

Not great experience (see initial 1 star review below), but they did fix things in the end and the double room was nice enough.
1 star review:
Horrendous experience. Arrived and they’ve got my room booking wrong (booked and paid for a double; given a tiny single). Room is next to event space playing incredibly loud music. Just awful. They apologise but nothing actually *done* to sort out problem. Sheets are plastic-like. Would never come back.
