We spent a month in India 2 years ago. Having just moved here we decided to try a takeaway from Malayalam and it did not disappoint. This was the best curry I've had since leaving Kerala. I had the Malayalam Fish Feast - absolutely brilliant and I haven't found anywhere serving Kayar Parata since leaving India. I will be trying all their dishes! My husband had the Malabar Coastal Chicken Curry and was singing its praises too. Definitely worth a visit here.

We loved the food! The beef starter special, the pepper chicken, okra and parathas were all standout dishes! Would love to come back and try more of the menu!
The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was amazing. We popped to Eastbourne on a whim and picked Malayam in the same way, and I'm so glad we did!

We've come for a brief visit from London today and ordered a take away based on the great reviews. The food didn't disappoint. We had a selection of starters: the lamb, fish and potato dishes were so well flavoured. The lemon rice was perfect. Staff were really nice when we collected. Really pleased to have visited and supported this great business.

Beautiful lunch deal - like a thali kind of thing - 4 veg curries, rice, chutnies and dosa for £6.95 - absolutely delicious. Chicken version available too. Friendly service and outside seating (some undercover). Wanna go back one evening to explore the menu more - its gorgeous and authentic keralan food

First outing for outdoor lunch this year. Despite cool weather really enjoyable. Staff were so friendly and menu was strikingly different from usual Indian. Great flavours well presented.
I’ll be back for sure.

Truly different experience of Indian food. The Keralan menu offered an excellent range of dishes - the highlight were the fish currys - lots of sea food, delicately flavoured. Service was attentive and helpful.

My husband walked by and said it looked really nice my comments were not another Indian and were trying to save money. I walked past and yes looked lovely so looked at the menu and they did a 3 curry special lunch time deal. We ordered this and thought it wouldn't be enough so wanted to order some sides but the lovely waiter said it the would be more than enough. Two pints of cobra at 4.95 which is a real great price and lunch at 7.95. Wow wow wow it was superb, superb flavours, superb service and superb price. We will definitely be going back again. Thank you so much a lovely surprise

Malayalam has become a firm favourite for us. Despite all the restrictions of the past year, we have squeezed in many visits when they have been able to open. Our latest one was last week for a delicious lunch in the sun. The food was fabulous as always, we opted for a lamb and chicken curry with delicious parathas and a side dish of okra which no visit is complete without. We always get a warm welcome and the service is excellent. We are happy to be back!

I have been wanting to visit Malayalam since it opened, and this was my first visit. It was lovely. We had 2 different types of chicken curry, one hotter than the other, but subtle, lemon rice and some lovely rice cakes called Kallapam. So different from your usual Indian, which are predominantly Bangladeshi. I will definitely be going back

Picked Malayalam because we love Indian food and there was a cold wind blowing, but not on their shady pavement terrace. Seating felt safely spaced and we were quickly served by staff wearing masks. We watched them clean other tables between guests. We had the Non-veggie lunch and were very much reminded of Kerala. Great Dosas. The wine was pleasant and well priced.
Definitely going back to sample more of their lovely food!Excellent value.

UNREAL
I had the fish in banana leaf and it was fantastic and also the stuffed dosa which was great too, we have a normal Indian we go to but tonight fancied trying something different and had no idea these dishes from the Kerala region existed. They were honestly so good and so different!

We are from South London, the Chilli Paneer and Masala Dosa tasted better than our local tooting south Indian restaurants. Food hygiene rating of 5 as well. Will definitely come here again when we visit Eastbourne beach again.

We chose Malayalam because it has different dishes to your usual Indian. We loved the flavours and the Beef Ularthiyathu was a favourite as was the Malayali Erachi Curry. Personally, I like a bit more heat so added some fresh chilli. We also ordered a chicken main, but felt it would have been better with thigh meat as the breast meat gets too dry, so wouldn't order again. Will try again.

We were delighted that Malayalam had reopened, albeit outside. Whatever the weather we were going to be there on their first day opening for lunch.
Our group had a lovely range of food. Some of us had the Thali lunch that was very reasonably priced. Even with large appetites, we found the portions to be very big. Lovely fresh food nicely spiced. We’ve booked to go back next week!

The takeaway service here was amazing. Food prepared on time and staff very friendly when picking up. The flavours from the food were amazing. I would highly recommend this place to friends. We cannot wait to go here for the first time, in person, when restrictions allow. The vegetarian feast was so filling (for two) and just delicious.
