Historic spot in the beautiful part of Pevensay. Very nice lady informed us about the English Heritage Card. We did the crack the code walk with the kids and they liked it! Small shop at the site with local wines, jams etc

Went here again after 33 years and was pleasantly surprised. There is now an interesting exhibition about this place.

A great day out. From the moment you arrive, We were sold tickets by a very interesting man giving us a brief introduction. The castle itself is full of history and is really interesting. The talkie landyards are worth getting so you get all the info as you walk around. Dog friendly.

Theres more to do and see than you'd think. A little pricey to get in, but worth a visit if the weather is nice.

Castle to visit if you pass through the area. It has a very long history which begins with the Romans (imposing ramparts still visible), passing through William the conqueror, ending with the Second World War (installations for territorial defense. The castle is not in very good condition, but given its age and what it has been through, this is understandable. A good visit.

Great afternoon out. This place has a fascinating history from Roman fort to William the conqueror’s first digs in England to WW2 defences. Well laid out with an informative (and happily concise) audio guide. Well signposted and offers great views of the surrounding countryside.

Even if you don’t pay to go inside and see the exhibits (I think it’s worth it) you can walk by and enjoy the exterior.

The woman in charge of the site has lots of info to share, not just on the castle but on other English Heritage sores in the area should you wish to sign up

Enjoyed this visit - the audio guides were great though we got confused with the numbering which didn’t seem to match a couple of times.
The information on the audio was really good and we particularly enjoyed the WW2 connections and view of pill box. Think we would have missed this without the audio.
The lady on reception was very knowledgeable and friendly.

What a fantastic audio tour! We are English Heritage members so we didn't have to pay an entry fee but with this trip to Pevensey and Battle Abbey not so far away we certainly have had our moneys worth already this year!

If you are taking a dog please note, there is only one poo bin as you enter the site from the pub car park entry. So we had to carry it round the entire site as there wasn't any other bins.

Small little shop on site with limited food or drink options so please be prepared and take your own.

The lady behind the desk was so helpful and polite, especially when audio point 11 didn't work she then gave her own version of it for the kids!

We finished off our trip with a drive in to Pevensey Bay for fish and chips from Rose's which were nice and we sat and ate them on the beach 👍
