I attended the annual British Music Hall Society event 'Day by the Sea', a full day of variety entertainment including music hall songs, comedy sketches, impressionists, magic and even an audience singalong. Top of the bill was the indubitable Roy Hudd ably assisted at times by the Clown Prince of Wales, Wyn Calvin and included that old favourite Mickie Driver in full WW1 livery leading us in some British Tommy songs.
Some of the performers were lesser known but no less able including Brandyn Shaw performing as Al Bowlly, truly mesmerising.
The only down side of the day was the comfort of the seats that after some 9 plus hours left me less than comfortable.
However, that aside this beautiful old building transported me back to the golden times of music hall and variety.
Wonderful building, wonderful show.....can't wait until next year!!!

Just back from holiday and I had to write a review. The show Musicality was fantastic it had everything you want in a show. Dancing, singing comedy and a bit of mystery too. The host Grant Martins was brilliant as well as the rest of the cast. I am so pleased that we found this gem. Highly recommend for everyone to see this show. It is entertainment at it's best.

What you would expect from a lovely old theatre.
It was a shame that the microphones weren't working well on the night of the show.

We went to see the opening night of the show. We had never been to the theatre before but booked the tickets at our hotel. On arrival everyone was so friendly and we were soon shown to our seats. The theatre old but full of character. The show was really good full of music comedy dancing and a two part comedy who dun it complete with ladies holding up applause and boo signs. The show is on till October and well worth seeing. We had sore throats with the laughing and singing

Being a new "local" decided to pay a visit. What a lovely theatre. I was transported back to the hayday of what it must have been like to attend music halls. The staff were lovely. Will definitely be paying a visit again

Staff at venue very helpful no programme for the event we attended which was very disappointing.
But the show itself was great.

I found the box office extremely helpful. Our seats were excellent and reasonably priced. The show was great - this was reflected in the audience reactions. We entertained a friend from London, who found the evening more successful in many ways, that trips to London Theatres.
With the Congress Theatre closed for eighteen months I really hope that the Hippodrome reaps some rewards from this closure.

We attended the Pantomime in April with granddaughters aged 7 and 8. Although the programme was two and half hours, the action was non stop and the children loved it. Joey and Silly Billy were great fun and were talked about for days afterwards. Everyone had very good voices and the songs were great. Amazing that so much could be achieved by such a small cast. Can't wait for the next one.

We recently visited tonsee Rapunzel Rocks, myself and my two daughters. The seats were comfy (although looking a little tatty in places), the staff were friendly and helpful. The tickets were reasonably priced, as were programmes and snacks (although sweets were far cheaper from the shop over the road.). The show we saw had me crying with laughter, and my daughter's on the edge of their seats in excitement. A great afternoon and I would highly recommend it.

I took my daughters and grandchildren to see this show as we had all enjoyed Treasure Island by the same company last year. It didn't disappoint! Great family entertainment. We all laughed so much right from my 4 year old grandson to myself ( good deal older)! The company struck the perfect balance for entertaining us all which isn't easy. A triumph!
