Visited Skylark with a group of old school friends, for Xmas catch-up. One member had Christmas menu, which was good value for money and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rest of the group chose off normal menu, all of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. The atmosphere was very laid back and staff couldn't do enough to help. A supposed quick lunch turned into four and a half hours. There was no pressure for us to leave premises (as can occur in other eateries) this was also the Saturday before Xmas. Great place, don't think anyone would come away dissatisfied .

We have found it quite testing to find a really good restaurant to enjoy a special dinner with local, good ingredients, cooked the way we enjoy them. Well. We have found the place now.
This evening, we enjoyed three courses, a bottle of red and it was excellent.I ate Purple sprouting broccoli with anchovies and chilli, followed by Venison with Juniper Berries and winding up with Sticky Toffee Pudding. My husband chose the Fennel and Blood Orange salad, Supreme of Chicken finishing with the Affogato.
Everything was perfect. Staff were helpful and friendly and we enjoyed a chat about the ingredients and where they were sourced and why they were selected. It was a super evening and a lovely dinner.I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Skylark. We only scratched the surface this evening and I look forward to the next visit.

As soon as you walk through the door you are greeted with such a friendly welcome! The food is delicious with so much flavour and local too! The service is great, food and presentation was perfect! Can’t wait to go back!

better late than never! myself and a group of girls booked in for a Christmas meal back in December and the staff were very accommodating to our last minute added guest!
The food was excellent and by far above the standard I was expecting when booking a Christmas set meal.Service was brilliant and the atmosphere very calm and chilled.
I would highly recommend for an evening meal, I have also been for coffee over the weekend and again great service, next: breakfast!

Really wanted to love this restaurant due to previous reviews,unfortunately it turned out not to be the case. The restaurant was freezing cold, it took 20 minutes for two cold drinks to arrive and 50 minutes for our food to arrive. The staff were pleasant but so slow, the food was good when it arrived. Shan’t be going back.

This was my first visit here and I hope it won’t be my last. This place has a friendly but classy atmosphere that I haven’t experienced in a long time. Each of us had three courses from the locally sourced freshly prepared seasonal menu and my other half was indulged with a chocolate and avocado mousse that wasn’t on the menu but satisfied her need for chocolate. I brought dry January to a close with the best espresso martini I have ever had and each of us felt truly spoilt with excellent service throughout. I would highly recommend this for any date night as it is simply wonderful.

Following a trip to the cinema we decided to try a different restaurant having only moved to Eastbourne 18 months ago.
The food was excellent - I had the Guinea fowl,superb and husband enjoyed the haddock florentine. The starters and desserts equally good. We left determined to spread the news of the quality of this lovely place.The restaurant had a lovely ambiance and the staff were very welcoming with attention to detail for all those small things that make going out to dinner enjoyable.
We will definitely be back for breakfast and a Sunday roast soon.

I arranged to meet some friends for dinner and The Skylark was recommended as a place to meet.The staff made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived and with the minimum of fuss seated us and offered drinks.From then on the service,food and attention to detail was impeccable.To make something look effortless takes a lot of hard work,the tables are set out in such a way that allows people to hear each other within a warm friendly environment.Very good and I will be there again soon!

We ate here on the Friday before Christmas. Booked at the last minute so were a little sceptical! The scepticism left the minute we were greeted. Lovely welcome by front of house who were knowledgeable about the wine and food. Menu was not over-crowded. Food was delicious. So much so - we all ate three courses. We look forward to returning for dinner, lunch and breakfast. Can’t recommend highly enough. It’s up there price wise but the quality speaks for itself.

3 of us went as a Christmas present , what a fantastic meal , 2 of us had the steak one the pork chops all of which was cooked to perfection very succulent and very tasty

This restaurant is the perfect mix of café/bistro and restaurant. The food is just delicious. Well done Chef Craig! The front of house staff were very attentive and friendly too. We look forward to returning next time we visit Eastbourne. Good luck in 2019.

Excellent, precise dinner cooking from a reassuringly short, locally-sourced menu. Good wine list, too. Lunch comes highly recommended from friends but unfortunately not tried myself yet - menu looks great. Even the toasted teacake this morning is noticeably good.
