We came here after taking on the 21km walk from Seaford to Eastbourne and it was the perfect refuel meal.
We shared the cod tacos for starter, steak and south-coast bouillabaisse for main and shared the brownie for pud. Every course was delicious, as were the cocktails and pudding wines.Service was quick and really friendly - I wish we lived in Eastbourne so we could come back!

SO GOOD! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
A nice intimate restaurant on Grove road, probably 30 covers. The menu is small with 6-7 starters and mains plus specials but gives an excellent range of options of vegetarian, fish and meat
The service was friendly and efficient without being too intrusive. Prompt without being too quick or slow.
The food was delicious with portion size being spot on. I had the crab starter and steak main (perfectly medium). No room for pudding :-( Cant wait to go back and try the breakfasts and lunch.

Booked for Lunch. Plenty of space around each table. Had the whole plaice with samphire and a steak sandwich. Pots of tea with real leaves and nifty spout strainers. All cooked very well, with the plaice really delicious. The steak sandwich comes with fries. There is street parking outside which you pay at the meter for a maximum of 2 hours. The staff are really bubbly and very happy to have you with them as customers with nothing being to much trouble. Lemon posset pudding had a quality zesty kick. Thank you.

An extremely nice welcome as we came through the door. We were seated at our booked table and menus handed to us. We both had starters and main course and both were excellent. All the food looked great. Wish I lived in Eastbourne as I would have returned.
Very friendly staff and table socially distanced. Unfortunately no masks worn by staff which I would have preferred.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here on Friday and the whole evening was fabulous. Skylark is just what you hope for in a local restaurant- warm welcome from always friendly staff, cosy and atmospheric, locally sourced food and wine, cooked superbly and with imaginative flair. The pigeon stater was outstanding, beautifully cooked sea bream and flavoursome, generous bouillabaisse, followed by a heavenly brownie and killer espresso martinis (in a good way)! We love this place and can’t wait to come back, thankyou Skylark.

I went for a dinner and service is very good. I got wild pigeon brrast which was too dry and the dish doesn't work for me. The turnip puree was actually cold with warm bean salad. The main I had seabream, fish of the day. It's coming as whole fish. The fish comes with tomato and aubergine sauce which is nice, but tastes just alright, not amazing. The Jersey potatoes are very good.
The best dish I had was dessert, warm brownie. It's fabulous.

Me and a friend had the vegetarian breaky. Really good quality, perfectly poached eggs, juicy seasoned mushroom, all the individual elements were really good. A light, pleasant environment and nice coffee and tea too. Would definitly recommend.

Nice, clean cafe. Sat outside on a sunny morning for breakfast. Ordered an americano and a mocha, both were strong and delicious. Full English is locally sourced and filling. Would definitely stop again.

Following a number of recommendations I booked an outdoor table for three at this charming privately owned restaurant. Whilst the wife runs front of house the husband cooks the most delicious fayre. We had three courses and all were excellent. Drinks too were of a high standard - A good house white and a non alcoholic distilled item served with tonic which also hit the mark. The service was well timed and sufficiently solicitous. All in all a first class dining experience. Not cheap, BUT, based on the quality of the food and overall experience, very good value. We will certainly be visiting again.

I was really looking forward to eating here and my expectations were met. Regarding covid measures, everything was really reassuring - tables are suuuuuper spaced out, hand sanitiser at the entrance, staff wearing masks etc. This was one of my first indoor meals out since covid and I was very relaxed about everything.
The lunch menu isn't huge but I found plenty of things of interest and settled on a panzanella salad which I loved. There are two drinks menus, so make sure you ask for the wine list if you want something alcoholic; I assumed they didn't have a lunchtime alcohol license so didn't realise this.
The food was beautiful and tasted incredible. So many flavours going on in a simple salad. It was so flavoursome. I had eton mess for dessert which was very nice but not spectacular, although I guess there is only so much you can do with an eton mess.
Service was great. Attentive, relaxed and not overbearing. Prices were very reasonable and I will definitely be returning. This is one of the better restaurants in Eastbourne, so please make sure you support them because they've created a safe space for you to enjoy great food.

Can’t complain about anything. I’m not one to write any sort of reviews. I was left with no choice this time. Best poached eggs I’ve ever had. Friendly and polite staff. Reasonably quick service. Great tea and nice fresh local juices. Pancakes were also perfect.would most definitely come back to Eastbourne to eat from here again.

In my view the best restaurants in Eastbourne.

Shame it only opens towards the end of the week.

Interesting menu well cooked what’s not to like.
Please try to go to ensure it remains during this difficult period

I’ve been here many times over the years and it’s never failed to impress—lovely service, great decor and of course tasty coffee to match. One of the best cafes in Eastbourne!

Really lovely cocktails and lovely food. Personally I was blown away by the bakewell tart cocktail which was literally the nicest drink I've ever had. Had fish and chip Friday's which again was fantastic. Really really impressed and will be taking my friends and family when they visit Eastbourne.

We came here for brunch and turned it into a three course meal once we saw the menu.
The staff are very friendly and inviting- including the kitchen staff greeting everyone on their way to the outdoor seating area.
The absolute highlight for us was the lemon posset - it was so good we came back for that the next day too!
Another visit to Eastbourne will not be complete without stopping by for a meal.
