Can’t praise Skylark enough; wonderful atmosphere, delightful, friendly, polite and chatty staff, truly delicious, exceptional food (and I’m fussy). Best steak I’ve had in a long long time. Super place befitting of the title lovely cafe by day and chic restaurant by night. Highly recommended

We want to support independent places, and we’d heard good things about this place. Our dinner was superb. They know how to cook high quality food here with many local offerings. Before our food we had local vodka and gin. For starters I had the crab tian, I don’t normally like crab, but this sounded different and the fresh tastes were delicious. My wife enjoyed the asparagus. For mains the southern coast sea bass was tasty, the samphire in butter was gorgeous, I’d only had it as a garnish before. My wife was brave and opted for the fish of the day - sea bream. The fish flesh was flavourful, but she had to fight with the whole fish to get it off and avoid the bones. The lemon posset dessert was tangy and sweet with the meringue, the accompanying shortbread was melted in my mouth. We paid just over £80, including a bottle of house white, which is a good price for the quality we had. Service was attentive and friendly. The room with tables spaced out as they have to these days was pleasant with all the plants and varied pieces of art for sale. I would have appreciated a cushion on the hard wooden chair, though. On a hotter day it would be lovely to eat out in the garden below. We recommend this place if you like quality food.

I try to be vegan. This place is well regarded. Why on a Sunday is the nut roast not vegan? If pub chains can offer a vegan nut roast why not here? On a plus note the lovely waitress was very accommodating. But what I ended up with was a concoction...a very agreeable one but a nut roast would have been even more agreeable. I am sure you can make vegan yorkshire puddings.. maybe with ground flax seed or aquafab to replace the egg?
They had one vegan desert.. where was the vegan icecream...where were the vegan brownies.. all standard fare in todays restaurant?
The environment was charming.. but no paper towels in the loo?
My friend defended the restaurant saying it was Eastbourne not Hastings. She had the nut roast.. wished it was more crunchy. I think she was bring too kind.. veganism is here to stay and growing

Superb Skylark! Easily best coffee in Eastbourne. Wonderful Sunday lunch enjoyed by 3 generations and all equally impressed. Breakfast is a real treat too. Service, staff, atmosphere all great.

Really like the decor and atmosphere in this cafe. Nice brunch menu, however I found the blackberry pancakes just a little too bitter for my taste! Also I was told that the lovely pecan pie I had seen advertised on their Instagram was only available for Valentine’s dinners. Would love to have tried it!

Friendly staff and nice food. Meats are locally sourced and the chefs are pretty good too. Come here for baked eggs, posh fry up or a roast on a Sunday. Good service, reasonable price and relaxed atmosphere.

Having found this on Trip Adviser we decided to have lunch there after walking from Sovereign Harbour to the pier. Definitely worth the trouble of tracking it down. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the food excellent. It’s a limited menu which we really like as there is always a good chance that everything is prepared fresh. Next time we are in Eastbourne we will definitely visit again.

Read reviews of this place before we went. All I can say is that we had high expectations and these were exceeded on every count. The staff were friendly, informative and relaxed but attentive. The food was AMAZING, I had cod loin and my husband had fillet steak. The meal was beautifully presented and the taste was fantastic. I particularly love their ethics, buy local, not pretentious and quality over image. Would definitely go back. Looking forward to our next visit!

Skylark has become my new favourite place. Me and my best friend visited before Christmas for a pre Christmas meal and catch up. They set a lovely table with crackers and oh my god the roast turkey dinner was AMAZINGGGG followed by a gorgeous chocolate orange pot and beautiful glass of Prosecco. The owner is so kind and friendly and it is such a cosy place hundred percent have recommended it to everyone. Keep doing what you’re doing it’s very hard to get it ‘just right’ but you do. Wishing you continued success for 2020 x

Love this local restaurant. The food is always excellent and the staff are friendly and welcoming. A very relaxed environment and we have never felt rushed.
The information provided on the local suppliers they use is a nice added touch.

Fresh and delicious local food in a relaxed but elegant atmosphere. I enjoyed a starter of mussels, followed by cod, and my husband had Brighton Blue croquettes, followed by pheasant.

Excellent, but understated, service.

Overall, a very enjoyable evening.

Easiest the best coffee in Eastbourne. Measured cups so you get the best every time. Pretty cheap too. If you haven't been here, go here. If you dont like coffee, go have something else there ;) you won't be disappointed
