The Beacon is a nice place in the centre of town that draws shoppers in (fitting name). It is currently undergoing a huge extension project with a wide range of new shops. The other half however is still old and the same can be said about the car park.

I am not a keen shopper but this place doesn't help. Yes you can walk between shops without getting wet but it is a typical uk identikit shopping centre. Usual shops like the cinema though.

I've never been to the new area until today, I enjoyed looking in the shops, but it was cold. Is it an indoor or outdoor shopping centre? as I couldn't decide

Very nice place to shop, go to cinema, lovely restaurants . It is a must to visit this great updated shopping centre .
If you just want to go window shopping as I usually do. I strongly advise any one to come to the Beacon .

The Beacon is very average. The shops are nothing special and are essentially the same as everywhere else.

The building work on the Shopping Centre seems to continue on forever and I can't remember when The town centre wasn't a construction site! There are a number of new restaurants but the food there isn't the best and there is lots of junk food advertisements and videos about them.

The new cinema is a bit over priced and people coming to The Beacon to watch a movie don't necessarily realise we have a cheaper, older cinema, the Curson, that is going to be put out of business.

In conclusion, The Beacon isn't the best shopping centre and it's pretty average but also decent and has what your looking for.

What a difference and what an improvement this huge extension has made to the main Shopping Mall in the town centre. Lots of new retailers and more to come in the next few months. When everything, including outside in the streets, is finished, Eastbourne will surely be the place to come shopping as well as to visit its new cinema complex contained within the Beacon.

When you first see the cinema surroundings it’s very modern and I would say a outstanding job in the foyer ... when you go into the one of the cinemas ( apparently there are around 7) the seating looked stepped which is great as no one can seat in front of you without you being able to not see.. however if you are disabled you can only sit in the front seats which for me would seriously hurt my neck cranking it backwards as the screen would be too in my face — second problem is when you are coming down the stairs , there are no handrails even intermittently to aid u down. ( or up come to think of it). So I think they could of planned it better.. so unless you are completely abled bodied with no aches pains or other complicated ailments go
and enjoy the cinema

As a visitor to Eastbourne I feel the charm lies in the older buildings and features in the town, and perhaps if there is money to be invested it should be in maintaining and rejuvenating these characterful aspects. The Beacon seems as if it will be fine as a shopping centre when all the work is complete and units let, but it felt out of place to me...

Can't say being back in Eastbourne was a joy, with all the road works etc around Eastbourne its a nightmare. We got the bus which parked us away from the shops etc and it didn't pick up where we were dropped off so had to go searching for the right bus stop etc. It's disjointed and no joy at all. If you want plenty of shops the beacon shopping centre will be ideal, personally we won't go back. We don't feel the rejuvenation of the town is a positive one.

This extension to the Arndale centre is intriguing. Half the shops are empty or boarded up. Why invest so much money to create a half empty shopping centre?

Is it a design fault that the new entrance to the Beacon Centre faces to the west and is not heated or closed off in the cold weather? Hopefully this is just 'work in progress' as the wind funnels down this entrance and makes the temperature quite unpleasant throughout the new and also the old part!! The owners of new businesses in the centre must be fuming (or freezing)!!
Most of the shops are the same as you would find in any new shopping centre and are unremarkable although there are several empty areas which hopefully will be filled in due course

I've recently moved to Eastbourne and was pleased to see that the shopping centre is currently being refurbished. Yes, it's a work in progress and could have a larger selection of stores but at least it's a start! I actually like the modern design and I don't think it's too cold (it's not meant to be a centrally heated store). Hopefully, it will bring some life into the town centre!

Walking through the new extension was like being outside without a coat on in January. Very very cold. No wonder Holland and Barrett have got there shutters down on there side entrance. Will be great in the summer, but certainly won't be in a rush to go here again in the winter. Think it will put Christmas shoppers off. Wrap up warm if you go here.
