We stay regularly and always love our room 130!
Hotel staff are always very friendly and we love to see that so many of them have been with you for many years. Location is great .....even though the wind and rain seemed in excess this year we were able to have our lovely walks by the sea! ready to book again for 2018.

I used to go to Managers Conferences at The Grand and really enjoyed the hotel and its position on the seafront. After I retired early we stayed for a few days on a number of occasions which we enjoyed. We also used to drive down for the day and use the hotel as a base to walk on the seafront.

We moved to Dorset five years ago and we needed to go away for 12 nights while our house was redecorated inside so we chose The Grand. What a good decision it was. The hotel is obviously looking older but the service is still impeccable and everything is still well maintained and clean.

We we lucky to have chosen early December as the hotel was not very busy and we were upgraded to a suite. Twelve very comfortable nights and very well looked after by all the staff.

Being old we cannot manage a full meal in the evenings but did greatly enjoy the excellent breakfasts (we like smoked haddock with poached eggs) and in the early evening we had a meal in the lounge bar which serves some great French fries among other things. The curry is worth trying and the sandwiches are excellent.

Of all the many hotels that we have stayed in over the decades The Grand at Eastbourne is still the gold standard against which all others are measured.

One can walk for miles along the front and we walked for over an hour every day and one day we walked to Sovereign Harbour and back which took about three hours.

Highly recommended!

Twixmas has become something of a tradition - having also been before for Christmas itself. Changing family structure makes this break perfect now. It’s comforting to see that things do not change and the same high standards still prevail.

A beautiful hotel offering food and service that is second to none. We had dinner in the Mirabelle which was absolutely first class. The staff are friendly, attentive and helpful without being overbearing.

We love coming to the grand for the excellent food and facilities a real luxury. The staff are always helpful and polite. The grand is one of the few eastbourne hotels with a car park and is a short stroll into town.

Always a good experience. The staff are friendly in a natural way and you feel they give good service without that overhanging feeling that any of it is based on the prospect of tipping i.e. you've paid for your stay and that is sufficient. I never have any hesitation in recommending the hotel and those of my friends who have subsequently stayed at the Grand have all given positive feedback. Looking forward to my next visit.

Caring, friendly staff and well behaved guests along with a comfortable, homely atmosphere. Our room needed some minor maintenance and this was attended to without any inconvenience to us. It seems to appeal mainly to couples and families whose children know how to eat and behave in company but if you were there alone you wouldn't feel alone - unless you wanted to. Very enjoyable and hope to return.

A magical place to enjoy the christmas break. One of the last traditional hotels that make you feel truly special. A perfect place for Children (we have 3) all well catered with plenty to do. Would recommend to anyone,

Wonderful hotel, wonderful staff, excellent location. Highly recommended and we will be visiting again. Located by the sea, near great restaurants and a 15 minute walk to the Pier. 10 out of 10 ad could have done with another nights stay!

We have stayed at this grand old hotel many times since attending a conference in the 1970s. Sadly I think this will have been our last visit! We stayed for three nights between Christmas and New Year. Checking in wasn't easy with a young man who wasn't sure what he was doing. The Suite, 127 on the first floor, was comfortable with a sitting room and separate bedroom but beginning to show it's age. The bathroom was small but adequate with a shower over the bath but amenities weren't replaced. I ventured out onto our balcony to take a photo on our first morning only to see peeling paintwork, plants growing out of the plaster and rusty ironwork. The hotel needs thousands of pounds spent on it! The wifi was terrible and after informing reception they offered us a move to another room but we couldn't be bothered with that and eventually we were offered a £10 a day reduction on our bill. The phone in the room would flash at least twice a day but there were no messages left. Again told reception but nothing was done about It!! The main staircase wasn't cleaned during the whole of our stay. We saw the same tinsel and gum every day!! The food was good but we were disappointed there was no cheese on offer instead of a dessert at dinner. The fruit salad was all diced and very uninteresting . The young staff were very keen and friendly but the older and more senior members of staff we found aloof and distant. We have stayed in top hotels around the world but really don't think the Grand is worthy of its five star status - sorry!!

Since our children were babies we have been coming to the Grand Eastbourne for the quality of service and sophistication that we have to date not found in some more famous establishments. Its nice to be served by knowledgeable, GOOD English speakers!

Splendid staff, genuinely friendly. A great enjoyable time in all respects.
Our party of 5 all enjoyed the holiday with ages from 28 to 68.
No criticisms at all. What more can you say.
Really great Christmas.

A fabulous Christmas was had at the Grand Hotel. The 4 day House Party programme and experience lived up to the 5 star billing. Great location on the sea front. Flat, level walking and only 10 minutes to the sea front Bandstand for the Christmas morning concert.

As a Christmas House Party it lived up to its title. There was throughout a feeling of friendliness and attention to the detail of the clients needs It was quite impressive. There was a pleasing variety of incidental entertainment and activity both in the hotel and in the town but no pressure to participate if not wished.

Great facilities (other than the room being cold and draughty), and wonderful service from the junior staff (though some of the seasonal staff appeared to lack training).
Food was excellent and in very good supply.
As a (not inexpensive) Christmas package however, there was much to be desired. Other than the last night, the Entertainment was poor and appeared to be targeted at the more aged guests (regulars). The result of this was that by 1100 each night there were no more than a handful of guests on the dance floor. (Why surround your dance floor with comfortable armchairs, when you should be creating a party atmosphere?)
Regular guests being able to reserve seats in the lounge or places at the bar, was wholly unacceptable.
